The sixth substantial post-release patch for MLB The Show 18 arrived early this morning. This is now the fifth update to directly alter the hitting system based on problematic consumer feedback, while the also-prominent pitching and fielding issues have been worked on at least three times each through those prior patches. The changes are substantial and could make a dramatic difference to success at the plate. Curiously the development team seems to be blaming the game for what they descr...

MLB The Show 18 today received another patch. It's the fourth out of five patches so far this year in a struggle to improve issues with the fielding and hitting that have plagued the game since release. Pitching, which has been worked on through pitch speeds in past updates, has not been affected by this latest one. ♦Fewer hard choppers, dribblers, and popups in online and local two-player games ♦Logic adjustments to increase the urgency of fielding in the infield. Specifically for D...

Super Mega Baseball 2 is definitely a "must have" (undeniably true on Xbox One where it's currently free) and just two weeks into its release Metalhead Software has delivered the first patch for the game. The original Super Mega Baseball was patched a few times and even got some new stadiums added but none of the individual updates were as substantial as this first one for the sequel. Some of the changes made came out of feedback during the beta period while other areas were identified and p...
  • MLB The Show 18 roster update includes the second set of ratings changes

For just the second time this season a roster update has delivered attribute changes to MLB The Show 18. Unless otherwise noted, the ratings mentioned tie only into Diamond Dynasty where the numbers are lower across the board than in the game's base roster. Coming off a 16 strikeout performance that was followed by a no-hitter, to little surprise James Paxton (+2 to 84) has moved up but just misses out on going Diamond. He benefits from boosts in H/9 and K/9 categories. Paxton did not not...

Today's roster update for MLB The Show 18 is notable for developments related to the two most highly-touted rookies this season. Making his debut in MLB The Show is Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. while Shohei Ohtani will now be playable in a different way. After last week's update was the first to introduce ratings changes none have been made this week. Acuna has been given a base roster rating of 78 Overall with 'A' Potential for Franchise Mode. In Diamond Dynasty he's rated ...
  • New patch for MLB The Show 18 further addresses the most pressing gameplay issues

Three areas of gameplay that have been heavily scrutinized since release are at the center of another patch for MLB The Show 18. Issues have been identified with the PCI jumping up or down during a swing, fielders struggling to make a play on balls that they should be able reach, and fastball speeds that have made the pitch practically unusable in online games. The latest update to MLB The Show 18 hits on all three of those problematic areas. However, pitch speed has only been adjusted fo...

  • Details on the first ratings changes for MLB The Show 18

Today's roster update for MLB The Show 18 is the first to include ratings changes. While it's still relatively early in the season enough data is now present to justify making those changes but the upgrades and downgrades have been kept somewhat minimal considering it has only been a month. The specific ratings mentioned here belong to Diamond Dynasty mode where the numbers are lower across the board than those found in the rest of the game. Of greatest interest are the players in Diamond...
