After a wait of over two and a half months the patch for MLB 2K11 is finally set to be delivered on Wednesday May 18th for the Xbox 360 and PC. Presumably the patch has been delayed on the PS3 side by the nearly month long outage to PSN and there is no clear idea as to when that may clear certification by Sony who are surely backlogged with requests. MLB 2K11 has been plagued by numerous bugs, Association mode problems such as no fatigue and an overwhelming number of injuries, the main ne...
  • Dynamic Ratings Feature in MLB 2K11 Not Really Working Either

MLB 2K11 has faced heavy criticism for being riddled with serious bugs and AI issues and after seven weeks a patch hasn't even been delivered in an attempt to address them. Given that we are now just about a full month into the regular season it made sense to check out the "Dynamic Player Ratings" feature that was heralded as the only significant addition to the game this year. Not surprisingly the feature fails to operate as advertised.  (more...)...

Despite PSN being completely out of commission the patch delivery system on the PS3 remains functional and MLB 11: The Show received its latest on Friday evening. Changes include making the analog hitting easier, pitching more difficult to pinpoint, adding movement to the knuckleball, and attempts to fix many of the issues with Franchise mode. Response towards the patch has been generally positive but there are some not finding there to be much difference in certain areas or even now havi...

Last year there were major warning signs that consumers were starting to become tired of the MLB offerings being delivered by SCEA and 2K Sports. The results of the polls were too well defined to be overlooked and that sentiment appears to have carried over into this year which has seen sales decline for both MLB 11: The Show and MLB 2K11. Here is a look at the state of the two games this year (with over 8K voters having chimed in) which could provide an outlook of how they will either bounc...

It has easily become the best offering from EA/Playfish to date.  (more...)...
  • NBA 2K11 Beats All Sports Releases in March
    by
    Posted April 14th, 2011 at 7:30 pm 44 Comments »
In its sixth month of release NBA 2K11 continued its sales dominance by topping all of the high profile new sports titles that arrived in March. That is a departure from the past few years where the MLB The Show franchise carried the month with relative ease. Last year NBA 2K10 did not even make the top 20 for the month to put it in context. In total there were eight different sports themed titles to release last month and that competition appears to have eaten away at the potential of each ...

The ultra-popular MLB.com At Bat mobile app has received a number of upgrades for this year and even takes advantage of video game resources. MLB.com At Bat 11 now features graphics for each individual ballpark rather than one generic ballpark and the players wear official home and road uniforms. Those assets come directly from MLB 11: The Show. There is also a planned update to insert individual player's batting stances to come later this year. The MLB.com At Bat app was the top grossing...
  • Has Someone Already Won the MLB 2K11 Perfect Game Contest?
    by

By all accounts the $1 Million Perfect Game Contest for MLB 2K11 has proven to be more challenging than that of MLB 2K10 which ended on the very first day. Whether it be due to the difficulty being adjusted, the addition of errors and less reliable fielding, or any number of bugs or freezing issues there has been more frustration communicated about the contest this year. It now appears though that at least one person has achieved a perfect game within the special dedicated mode as a video h...

With the baseball season getting underway a few days earlier than in the past it allowed the first regular season roster update for MLB 11: The Show to be even more significant. Instead of just setting the 25 man rosters the extra time provided for some of the rookies that since Thursday had made their major league debuts, such as the San Francisco Giants' Brandon Belt, to be added to the game. The first update of the regular season is now available and a prompt will be given upon startin...
  • 2011 Baseball Game Satisfaction Polls
    by
    Posted April 2nd, 2011 at 12:30 pm 25 Comments »
Baseball has become the only major sport that has direct competition and for MLB 11: The Show and MLB 2K11 even that takes place on just one console. As the two still fight for market share consumers have started to show signs of fatigue towards them for very different reasons. In response MLB 11 added analog controls and 2K11 brought back the perfect game contest. Early reports this year indicate sales are down for both games. For a few years now though this hasn't been a competition at ...
