The demo for NBA 2K21 has gone live on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It should later today for PC as well. The download is a massive 31GB which is slightly smaller than it was with NBA 2K20 but 2-3 times larger than years prior. Included is the ability to play exhibition games with the Bucks, Clippers, All-Time Lakers and All-Time Celtics. The MyPlayer Builder is also featured in the demo. Unfortunately there is a limit of five games that can be played. After that the 2KU options and MyPlay...

2K Sports revealed the three different cover athletes for NBA 2K21 this week (Damian Lillard, Zion Williamson, Kobe Bryant) but the more interesting news relates to details on the series' transition to the next-gen systems. NBA 2K21 on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will see a price increase to $70. That's the first indication that games across the board may be more expensive next-gen. It would seem unlikely that NBA 2K would be on its own in doing so. Additionally those who buy t...

NBA 2K20 will be offered through Xbox Game Pass starting tomorrow. 2K20 joins Pro Evolution Soccer 2020, others in the genre including Rocket League, and over 100 more games currently offered through the subscription service which goes for $10 a month. This is the earliest that an NBA 2K game has been added to a subscription service. In 2017 it was NBA 2K16 being offered free through PlayStation Plus but that wasn't until June. That 2K20 is being provided in advance of the playoffs when i...

Now a full month into the season 2K Sports has rolled out its second roster update with ratings changes for NBA 2K20. Luka Doncic, Trae Young and Andre Drummond were the big winners two weeks ago in the first round of changes. Doncic continues a meteoric rise up another 3 points now to 93 Overall. That's now 6 points that he has gone up since the season began. That's understandable considering he is averaging near a triple-double at just about 3o points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists a game f...

The first roster update featuring player ratings changes has arrived for NBA 2K20 and also includes updated heights and weights. Now two weeks into the season there is enough data to merit ratings increases and decreases and the updates should become fairly consistent throughout the year representing current player performance and trends. Jumping up the most in this new roster are Luka Doncic (+3 to 90), Trae Young (+4 to 89), and Andre Drummond (+3 to 89). Doncic is averaging nearly a tr...

Since the deal began for Nike to provide the NBA jerseys back with the 2017-18 season there have been four primary sets for each team to choose from on a game-by-game basis: Association (white), Icon (team color), Statement (tying to the franchise's history), and City (representing a connection with the community). Not all teams will change change the last two every year but some choose to do so. A number of them have been unveiling new Statement uniforms for the coming season and 2K Spor...

Going into NBA 2K20 expectations were high that the improvements being made to gameplay, the revamping of MyGM mode and a new story mode with high the usual high production values would lead to one of the more compelling iterations in the series. There certainly was already more content in place than any other sports gaming franchise to roll over along with gameplay and presentation already considered to be the best in the genre and no other sports game having one completely impressive franc...
  • Controversy of their own making with NBA 2K20 could cost Take Two in the long run

With legislators and the FTC keeping close watching on video game monetization practices one might think publishers would dampen their brashness around promoting loot boxes and other gambling-like mechanics. Take Two, the parent company of 2K Sports, however has gone the other way. They have brought the conservation back to the forefront by releasing an incredibly audacious trailer for MyTeam mode in NBA 2K20. Major websites and Youtubers have naturally jumped all over this and made it a ...
