While the NBA celebrated a sensational All-Star Weekend, the video games that represent the sport have failed to deliver consumers a similar experience. In a piece at Hit The Pass today the integration of All-Star events in NBA 2K16 and NBA Live 16 are evaluated. What hasn't been updated in years and what is missing? How can the Saturday night events and actual All-Star Game be changed to better reflect their real-life counterparts? What would you like to see done with the events that ta...

With NBA 2K16's implementation of a legends rating scale current players can be compared to those from the past, and that means with the ratings climb for Steph Curry he's currently considered to be playing at a level only ever having been exceeded by Michael Jordan. With the move up in ratings to 97 Overall with the NBA 2K16 roster update today, Curry is tied with peak LeBron James, Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the second highest rated players in the history of the league. O...

The uniforms and court for this year's NBA All-Star Game which takes place in Toronto on February 14 made it into NBA 2K16 earlier today. The full rosters for the game were updated following the reserve selections being announced last week. The jerseys include, for the first time ever, an advertisement on front with the sponsorship by Kia. Strangely though the 2016 All-Star Game in NBA 2K16 is being played in Madison Square Garden rather than Air Canada Centre. It wouldn't be a surpri...
  • Take Two/2K Sports being sued over player tattoos in NBA 2K16

Many have lamented the lack of player tattoos in certain sports video games, most prominently the Madden NFL series. EA Sports made a big deal out of Colin Kaepernick getting his tattoos in Madden NFL 15 but he was the only player in the game with them. The publisher no longer includes potentially copyright infringing art without those who own the rights having signed off on them. There are now a few more players including cover athlete Odell Beckham Jr. with them in Madden NFL 16. Even...

With the rise of eSports it was only a matter of time before sports game publishers made their moves into the space. EA Sports with Madden NFL 16 was the first to hold their own event, offering up a relatively small prize but in a tightly defined and controlled competition that has proven to be successful in what it sought out to do. The semi-finals and finals of the event, which uses the game's Draft Champions mode, will be taking place tomorrow. On the flip side of things it seems as th...

There are a couple very interesting developments out of today's roster update for NBA 2K16. The top rated player in the game has opened up a bigger lead over the next highest individual, while a player in the spotlight for the wrong reasons has been hit with some punitive action. LeBron James had held the throne as the highest rated player in the NBA 2K series since 2010. Earlier this season Stephen Curry tied him and then surpassed him. With the latest roster update Curry has taken a two...

  • Kevin Love’s ratings plummet in latest NBA 2K16 roster update

Only one player was adjusted dramatically in today's NBA 2K16 roster update. The struggling Kevin Love got dropped by 3 points and now stands at 82 Overall. Love took significant hits in attributes like Offensive Consistency (-15), Defensive Consistency (-10), multiple Defensive IQ categories and multiple Shooting categories. He has averaged only 12.5 points since the start of December, shooting 37%, and has remained a liability on defense. He played especially awful in the recent blo...
