  • Competition with Pro-Am Mode in NBA 2K16 being held in early 2016
    Posted December 22nd, 2015 at 9:00 am 5 Comments »
2K Sports today announced an online competition to launch in early 2016 utilizing the 2K Pro-Am Mode that debuted with NBA 2K16. Details are scarce but there will be a "huge cash prize and trip to the 2016 NBA Finals" on the line. The company is referring to this as "eSports" but given that there is no level playing field - people can pay to level their characters up and max them out - it isn't going to be considered as such. The idea here seems to be primarily about giving people who wa...

    Posted December 19th, 2015 at 9:45 am 9 Comments »
The uniforms that will be worn on Christmas Day have now been introduced into NBA 2K16. It's the second to last year for adidas as the contract with the NBA winds down, with Nike taking over in 2017, and the consensus seems to be they finally got them right this time around. The Christmas jerseys are now found in 2K16 for the New Orleans Pelicans, Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Los Angele...

As far as post-release patches go, NBA 2K16 has now received three of them, with the latest having gone out today on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The first patch was primarily intended to get Pro-Am working, while the second one had wide reach influencing pretty much every mode in the game with changes based on community feedback. The new patch delivers a number of fixes to the game, including getting the couch co-op that was broken with the previous update back to being functional, and affects...
  • Paul George continues to rise in ratings with latest NBA 2K16 roster update
Posted December 12th, 2015 at 11:45 am No Comments »
Steph Curry is understandably getting a lot of attention to his NBA 2K16 ratings, as he now stands among the all-time greats based on his current positioning, but there are many other players exceeding expectations this season as well as those who have fallen short of them. In a piece on Sporting News this week I went through the players who have moved up the most and those that have fallen most in NBA 2K16 since the start of the season. Another roster update for NBA 2K16 went out today a...
  • Steph Curry reaching an even more elite status in NBA 2K16
    Posted December 9th, 2015 at 4:15 pm 4 Comments »
The start to the season for the Warriors and reigning MVP Stephen Curry has been unprecedented and unbelievable, and now NBA 2K16 is beginning to represent that. Ratings keep on rising and for Curry that means reaching a level that in the history of the league only includes a few players. Now rated 96 Overall, Curry is tied with peak Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Shaquille O'Neal, and 1988-89 Michael Jordan. The only players above him now are peak Magic Johnson, LeBron James and Kareem Abdul-...
  • Alternate court for the Milwaukee Bucks added to NBA 2K16
    Posted December 9th, 2015 at 9:00 am 4 Comments »
Last week 2K Sports introduced the first alternate court in NBA 2K16, appearing when the Hardwood Classics uniforms are selected for the Golden State Warriors. It was notable that unlike the uniform additions that are made during the year any new floors will show up even within modes that were already in progress. Now the other team that has an alternate court this year has received it in the game. The Milwaukee Bucks utilize the court when wearing the black alternate uniforms....
  • First alternate court makes it into NBA 2K16

2K Sports has done an admirable job of updating NBA 2K16, with not just the expected consistent roster updates and patches but also content additions that include new uniforms. A few are still missing, with many more including the Christmas jerseys anticipated sometime soon, but the majority of those that have debuted this season are in the game. Today the post-release support extended even beyond that with the addition of an alternate court. The Golden State Warriors alternate court wi...
  • Stephen Curry overtakes LeBron James to become the highest rated player in NBA 2K16
    Posted November 26th, 2015 at 9:00 am 1 Comment »
For the first time in the last five years of the NBA 2K series LeBron James doesn't at least share the designation of top rated player. In today's NBA 2K16 roster update reigning MVP Stephen Curry passed him by, moving up to 95 Overall, while James remains at 94. Curry began the season at 93 and has moved up after averaging 32 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds on 51% shooting in the remarkable 16-0 start for the Golden State Warriors. Notable Players Up: Steph Curry (+1 to 95), Kawhi Leo...
