  • Differences in Xbox One and PS4 Versions of Madden NFL 25 and NBA 2K14
    Posted November 26th, 2013 at 1:30 pm 22 Comments
One of the most common questions out there relating to the Xbox One and PS4 is whether there are any differences in multi-platform games. As far as sports games go on a technical level there shouldn't be - they are running at the same resolution and framerate - but that doesn't mean they are exactly the same. Continue on for my observations after having played both Madden NFL 25 and NBA 2K14 on the two consoles.  (more…)...
  • More Concerns Over NBA 2K14 Surface As Game Has Started Crashing For Many
    Posted November 24th, 2013 at 11:45 am 61 Comments
In the last few days there have been a large number of reports of NBA 2K14 on both Xbox One and PS4 crashing in the middle of playing games or while making progress in the various modes. No error message or anything of the sort is displayed when this happens. 2K14 just closes out back to the main menu or all the way to the dashboard and everything is lost. This would appear most likely related to issues with the 2K servers, which have been troublesome from day one becoming one of the few ...

NBA 2K14 represents a phenomenal first effort on the next-gen systems. It immediately shows off the capabilities of the new hardware and provides fresh experiences coupled with the reliably excellent gameplay consumers have come to expect from the series. No game is perfect though and NBA 2K14 has its share of faults. Continue on for what NBA 2K14 did well and where it faltered in this Hits and Misses review.  (more…)...

While more detailed write-ups will be done in the near future here are brief initial assessments of the three launch day sports games on the PS4 that will also be out for Xbox One this week. Rare is the occasion where several sports games are released on the same day so time with them has been split evenly thus far. It'll take longer to craft a more complete review for each which they deserve to have. (more…)...

    Posted November 13th, 2013 at 5:15 pm 18 Comments
While multi-platform sports games will likely be fairly comparable across the board between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this upcoming generation, there are a few ways in which the two systems differentiate from one another that developers will look to take advantage of. One example of those for the PS4 is the Dualshock 4 controller that provides for the use of a unique central touchpad. A new video that came out today includes discussion with developers on how they are utilizing the to...
  • The Latest NBA 2K14 and FIFA 14 Next-Gen Gameplay Videos
    Posted November 11th, 2013 at 11:45 am 37 Comments
Despite the end of the week bringing the launch of the PlayStation 4 the sports games have still shown very little in the way of raw gameplay footage. While Madden NFL 25 and NBA Live 14 are being almost completely hidden, off-screen videos from conventions for FIFA 14 and a short clip for NBA 2K14 were all that was available to see of those two in action until now. Thanks to demo units being up in retail stores more off-screen videos have materialized for both while FIFA also has some direc...
