NBA Lockout Could Be Coming to an End
Breaking news came down in the early hours of Saturday as the owners and players have reportedly reached a tentative agreement on a deal to end the NBA lockout. Nothing is official yet but once the complete deal is written up it will still take a few days for it to be presented to a vote on both sides. NBA Extends Licensing Agreements with EA Sports and 2K Sports
Today the NBA announced new multi-year licensing agreements with both Take Two and Electronic Arts to produce official video games for the league. It has been my gut feeling all along that there would be no simulation NBA title from EA Sports released this year. The damage done by the near release of NBA Elite 11 was too much to recover from quickly, especially given the studio move from EA Canada to Tiburon which would surely hold up the process. It was only a matter of time before it was made official and today EA Sports announced that NBA Elite 11 has been completely canceled. Originally framed as a "delay" it was obvious the game would never see the light of day despite the company reportedly not having made any final decisions on its fate.
