NBA Lockout Could Be Coming to an End
Breaking news came down in the early hours of Saturday as the owners and players have reportedly reached a tentative agreement on a deal to end the NBA lockout. Nothing is official yet but once the complete deal is written up it will still take a few days for it to be presented to a vote on both sides. If the majority approve that would then bring about a period for free agency and other matters before the planned 66 game season would begin on Christmas.
Obviously 2K Sports would be catch...

EA Sports NBA Faces Commentary Decision
Through all the events of last week one piece of news that will impact an upcoming title flew somewhat under the radar. Mark Jackson accepted the job coaching the Golden State Warriors. Having joined on as commentators for the canceled NBA Elite 11 the ABC trio of Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy, and Jackson had been slated to continue even as the series is being retooled for release in October 2012. EA Sports Tiburon Loses an Executive Producer; Joins Wave of Recent Departures
The hits keep on coming for the EA Sports Tiburon studio. After breaking the news last month that several high ranking developers and executives were departing for the new social gaming studio being headed up by former Tiburon GM Philip Holt even more is happening behind the scenes as a long-tenured Executive Producer is leaving the company.
Multiple sources have confirmed to me that Jeremy Strauser, who started with EA Sports way back in 1995, has taken a position with Zynga - the larges...
EA Sports Delays Return of NBA Sim to 2012
It has been my gut feeling all along that there would be no simulation NBA title from EA Sports released this year. The damage done by the near release of NBA Elite 11 was too much to recover from quickly, especially given the studio move from EA Canada to Tiburon which would surely hold up the process. When it was discovered that the team hadn't even been put together at the point the move was announced it became clear it wasn't going to get done in a single development cycle.
EA Sports ...

The first inside look yet at what led to the cancellation of NBA Elite 11 has been provided today by Kotaku who interviewed Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello. IGN Calls NBA Elite Cancellation Courageous
Typically I don't bother with articles written about developments in the sports gaming world from the mainstream media sites, however this instance just couldn't be ignored in its audacity. It appears IGN is trying to assist EA Sports in the image rebuilding process of their NBA franchise. It reads like a PR piece prompted by EA and ends up doing readers a disservice. (more...)...
NBA Elite 11 Officially Canceled
It was only a matter of time before it was made official and today EA Sports announced that NBA Elite 11 has been completely canceled. Originally framed as a "delay" it was obvious the game would never see the light of day despite the company reportedly not having made any final decisions on its fate. When the news hit that the franchise was being shifted to the Tiburon studio it only cemented further that it was finished.
The question now arises as to what will be the future of NBA from EA...
NBA Elite Being Moved to Tiburon
EA Sports' NBA franchise is being moved to the Tiburon studio as reported by 1Up. The news has not been confirmed but comes on a day where layoffs are beginning to take place. Those are being described by EA as the typical seasonal layoffs they complete after release cycles finish and are company wide not limited to EA Sports.
Just some quick analysis on what this might mean. First, it is even more likely now that NBA Elite 11 will never see the light of day. A move to a new studio will req...
