Though the news of NBA Live 13's impending release as a discount digital title doesn't come as a surprise given the events of recent months it does reaffirm general pessimistic assessments towards the product and explain the disappearance of promotion by EA Sports. The tactic being employed is not one of confidence nor is it an attempt to gain marketshare on a competitor. It's admission of defeat and could signal the end of basketball from EA. (more…)...
  • NBA Live 13 Apparently May Still Be On Track To Release And Do So At Just $20

According to IRB Gamer, who is reporting out of the Gamestop Expo, NBA Live 13 will be a digital release this October. That it would be a downloadable title doesn't come as a surprise - the recent leaked footage supported that and all other signs before it have pointed that direction. It will probably be a big mistake to re-launch the series in such a manner, but coming in at a $20 price point could lead some to give it more consideration. That is what a a rep apparently told the site to exp...

The leaked gameplay footage of NBA Live 13 has given even more credence to the idea that it could end up being a digital download rather than retail release. Everything continues to point towards that as the strategy EA Sports is going with - or was planning to anyway - even if it would be yet another major mistake on their part.  (more…)...

There are just six weeks until NBA Live 13 should be releasing yet EA Sports remains quiet about their intentions for the game. The biggest question of course is whether it'll release at all or not - indications from EA certainly haven't been encouraging even in that basic regard and retailers remain in the dark. Is could also be planned as a digital release though the company has refused comment on all matters. Now though an extended gameplay video has leaked - the first opportunity to a...
  • NBA Live 13 Going Solely Digital Would Be Yet Another Big Misstep

The complete uncertainty surrounding NBA Live 13 continues with the latest that the product could end up being a digital release. If that is the tactic being put into play by EA Sports it's one they'll likely regret. EA Sports was unable to generate excitement for NBA Live 13 at E3 - in fact they left the event with perception of the game taking a large hit from its already fairly low level of regard from the media. Since then the company has gone largely quiet regarding Live - with the exception of tweeting out first round draft pick overall ratings - which projects the impression that they don't have what is needed to generate positive momentum or may not be confident in the product at this point in ti...

The overall ratings from NBA Live 13 that EA Sports provided for the rookies drafted in the first round won't tell you much about the player's skill levels or effectiveness in the upcoming game. They're essentially empty numbers with no context and varying by only a few points here and there between most of the picks made their reveals fairly uninteresting. What is evident however from those overall ratings is that the new development team is reverting to a more traditional ratings scale ...
