Retailers are now listing NBA Jam for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and in the process have revealed the release date and price for the game. It was just a week ago that we learned NBA Jam HD would be a full retail release and not a downloadable offering. Many expected the game to end up being sold for the standard $60 given that the Wii version went for $50 and did not include online play or the HD graphics. NBA Jam will go for $50 for the 360 and PS3 matching the Wii version. Even at $50 though it...
  • NBA Jam HD Getting Retail Release

When NBA Elite 11 was delayed it was made clear that NBA Jam was getting a separate release. The next big question was whether it would remain as a downloadable game or if it would get a full retail release. When it was revealed that content was being added to the game, and that it was basically being looked at as a way to recoup some of the losses that Elite incurred, the assumption became that it would no longer be a downloadable offering. That now is all but confirmed as NBA Jam has been...

NBA Jam includes unlockable Democrat and Republican teams. ESPN has revealed the rosters for both of them. The Democrats have President Barack Obama, VP Joe Biden, Bill Clinton, Hilary Clinton, and Al Gore. The Republicans are made up of Sarah Palin, John McCain, George W. Bush, and Dick Cheney. For the time being the codes to unlock them remains unknown. This news relates to the Wii version of the game which released today. It has not yet been confirmed that they will be included in the 36...
  • Downloadable NBA Jam HD Also Exists

When NBA Elite 11 was delayed it was announced that NBA Jam would get its own separate release on the 360 and PS3. Because of that it seemed extremely unlikely that, should anyone get a hold of a copy of Elite, they would be able to retrieve Jam. Codes were placed on inserts in copies of Elite in order to download the game but the content would have to be available in the first place. Surely Microsoft and Sony would have removed it at EA Sports' behest immediately right? (more...)...
  • EA Sports Adding Content to NBA Jam HD

    Posted October 4th, 2010 at 10:34 am 39 Comments »
According to NBA Jam creative director Trey Smith efforts are being made to add new content into the HD version of the game now that it is free of its ties to NBA Elite 11. The info comes from a Toronto radio show interview as relayed via Neogaf. There was really no "complete" version of NBA Jam as the Wii version (releasing tomorrow) does not include online play and the downloadable HD versions were to miss out on the "Remix" mode. With the company now looking to recoup some of its losses ...

EA Sports has announced they have delayed NBA Elite 11 and will no longer release it as scheduled on October 5th. No word on if they plan to release NBA Elite 11 at all, or will come back with what they perceive as a strong offering a year from now for Elite 12. Tying in with that NBA Jam, which had been planned to be packaged into NBA Elite with a code, will now be out separately for the 360 and PS3 before the end of the year. EA Sports clearly saw the writing on the wall that the release ...
  • NBA Jam Western Conference Rosters

Last week EA Sports released the rosters for the Eastern Conference teams in NBA Jam and they have now followed-up with the Western Conference. Each team carries 3-4 current players and some include playable legends and mascots. There is the possibility of roster updates post-release (for the 360/PS3 but not the Wii) to consider as a few of the rosters are inaccurate due to recent off-season moves. If you missed it make sure to check out my NBA Jam HD (360/PS3) hands-on impressions and video...

A month ago EA Sports announced that NBA Jam would be coming to the 360 and PS3. The catch though is that it would be only available to download through a code that is being included in new copies of NBA Elite 11. The arcade market has been dry ever since EA and Midway ended Street and Ballers respectively, and here EA is bringing back a classic in what is better described as a "refresh" than a "reboot". The first opportunity for the media and public to play NBA Jam HD came with it out on t...
