  • NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Finally Gets Its First Roster Update
    Posted January 31st, 2012 at 1:45 pm 10 Comments »
It took until practically a third of the NBA season was complete, and pressure from outside sources, but EA Sports has finally met their obligation to provide at least one roster update for NBA Jam: On Fire Edition after advertising it as a feature. An update arrived today and can be grabbed by going to the 'Online Arena' section of the game. Don't expect much out of this roster update though. Players have been moved around - the Chris Paul and Blake Griffin tandem is now available - but ...
  • EA Sports Decides They’ll Provide Advertised Roster Updates for NBA Jam: On Fire Edition
    Posted January 17th, 2012 at 12:45 pm 14 Comments »
As noted yet again in the article from earlier today EA Sports had notably been avoiding the topic of roster updates for NBA Jam: On Fire Edition since first announcing it as a feature way back in July. At all costs they ignored consumer and media inquiries into the matter. It seemed as though they hoped the topic would fade out of relevance and thus refused to respond to requests for comment not just from here but other prominent media outlets including Kotaku. Putting the pressure on t...
  • Both EA and 2K Fail to Meet Post-NBA Lockout Expectations
    Posted January 17th, 2012 at 8:30 am 24 Comments »
The anticipation and excitement of a returning NBA stretched from fans to game publishers as EA Sports and 2K Sports hoped to capitalize on a quasi re-release period and make up for some of the losses that had been incurred due to the league lockout. The extent to which they have been successful though has been limited. NBA 2K12 was able to get a decent sales bump out of it but in terms of support have come up short while EA flat out misled consumers by advertising a feature that has not bee...
  • NFL Blitz Arriving With a Whimper – Lack of NBA Jam Support Partially Responsible
    Posted January 3rd, 2012 at 1:15 pm 35 Comments »
Based on the results of the poll posted last week regarding purchase plans for NFL Blitz - which releases tomorrow on XBLA and PSN for $15 - enthusiasm has dropped considerably since the original announcement of the game. Only 13% plan to buy Blitz and 59% are dead set against it. The remaining chunk is in wait and see mode and may base a decision on the trial version. Considering the only unedited gameplay video generated pure indifference it might be tough to hook those people who are on ...
  • EA Sports Yet To Follow Through With Roster Updates for NBA Jam
    Posted December 28th, 2011 at 2:30 pm 32 Comments »
EA Sports made the addition of roster updates for NBA Jam: On Fire Edition a big selling-point considering the original reboot from the company the year prior was not supported post-release. They used the disappointment and frustration with that title to market OFE with everything from roster updates to "Team Fire" and "Tag Mode" touted as hype-worthy additions given the disappointment over their omission from the original.  (more…)...
  • NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Will Be a Test of Customer Loyalty
    Posted October 3rd, 2011 at 12:00 pm 32 Comments »
NBA Jam: On Fire Edition releases tomorrow on PSN and Wednesday on XBLA. It does so however with little fanfare - in stark contrast to the excitement levels generated when a reboot of the series was announced last year. It has been a rollercoaster ride ever since that point which considerably eroded the fan base. The download-only sequel will be vastly overshadowed by the release of NBA 2K12 this week. The challenge it really faces though are consumers who feel jilted by a disappointing $50 ...
  • 2011 Air Jordans Appear in NBA Jam
    Posted September 23rd, 2011 at 3:30 pm 17 Comments »
NBA Jam: On Fire Edition will include customized Air Jordan 2011 sneakers. Members of 'Team Jordan' such as Dwayne Wade, Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, and Joe Johnson will be wearing the shoes in the game. The news was first announced on the official Jordan facebook page. Jordan Brand has been featured prominently in EA Sports products in the past such as NBA Live and NBA Street as well as others including the NBA 2K series. In some cases the games have actually provided the first look at upco...
  • NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Online Details
    Posted September 22nd, 2011 at 9:30 am 14 Comments »
Though NBA 2K12 is the premiere league-licensed title to release in less than two weeks another is on the way in the form of NBA Jam: On Fire Edition. Less affected by the NBA lockout it faces its own hurdles as it attempts to overcome a disappointing full-priced offering last year that has resulted largely in apathy towards On Fire Edition. By going digital download only on XBLA and PSN for $15 it becomes more reasonable to consider but it still has yet to generate much excitement or antici...
