The third in-season roster update for NBA 2K16 went out today and the meteoric early season rises for Andre Drummond and C.J. McCollum continue. Drummond, averaging 19.4 points and 19.6 rebounds, is now up to 86 Overall. McCollum is averaging 20.9 points and is now 78 Overall after starting the season at 72. While Stephen Curry rose in the last update to tie LeBron James as highest rated in the game, the other two cover athletes haven't fared as well. James Harden dropped in the last upda...

Today Microsoft revealed the initial list of games receiving backwards compatibility on Xbox One when the functionality launches for the system on Thursday. As expected the sports gaming genre has little representation with only one game in the mix. NBA Jam: On Fire Edition will be available with the first batch of games. Originally released November 2011, OFE was a $15 downloadable-only title. It was fairly well received, with 85/81 on Metacritic, but also followed only a year after the...

Yesterday the first in-season roster update went out for NBA 2K16 applying some changes based on performance from the first handful of games. Another update has released today adjusting some other players around the league. LeBron James has company at the top of the ratings now. Stephen Curry, averaging 37 points per game, has moved up to 94 Overall to tie him for the honor. What changed were some shot ratings: Standing Shot Medium was boosted four points while Standing Shot Close, Moving...

2K Sports today released the first roster update for NBA 2K16 that takes into account performance from regular season games. The Warriors didn't receive any upgrades despite a record-setting start, nor did the Rockets receive any downgrades after getting blown out in their first three games before bouncing back last night. Considering the season is so young it's not surprising that only a handful of players were moved up or down. Kobe Bryant is the player with the highest profile to be a...

With Black Friday still over three weeks away, an opportunity to pick up NBA 2K16 at a discount before then has popped up today. Amazon has the game for $47 on PS4 and Xbox One. 2K16 has been out now for over a month now and opinions on the game really haven't changed. It's arguably the most impressively assembled sports game ever released. The Michael Jordan Special Edition was also offered for $20 off earlier today as a lightning deal but that has now expired. For those...

  • The future of NBA Live appears bleak

The news on NBA Live 16's abysmal sales has brought into greater focus the precarious position the series finds itself in now. With a brand that seems irreparably damaged, at some point EA Sports will be forced into the decision of shutting it down for good, or spinning it into something dramatically different than it is now. With that in mind, Rich Grisham and I discuss the current situation for NBA Live, how it ended up in this place, considerations that the company has been and will be...
