  • EA Sports UFC on Mobile Awkwardly Still Fronted by Jon Jones

The first UFC game for mobile was released by EA just over a week ago and the company already finds themselves in a pickle. Jon Jones was arrested this week after alleged involvement in a hit-and-run. He's since been stripped of the light heavyweight title and replaced in next month's UFC 187 by Daniel Cormier who will fight Anthony Johnson for the vacated belt. EA took a risk by plastering Jon Jones all over the new mobile game given that he tested positive for cocaine in January. That w...

Given that the return of RBI Baseball was a much better fit on mobile than consoles last year it was a surprise early this month when MLB Opening Day rolled around yet the new edition was not out for iOS and Android. Instead the overpriced and underwhelming (hey, a 45 Metacritic is better than last year's 23!) Xbox One and PS4 versions were released in time for the season. Today RBI Baseball 2015 finally arrived for iOS devices and presumably Android is close behind. The game goes for $5 ...

EA Sports UFC has finally made it out for iOS and Android devices. The game was initially offered in a few select regions two months ago and has now reached North America and others. That's been the M.O. for the company on mobile, offering games first almost as a betas in a few places before rolling it out worldwide. User reviews have been mixed but trended positive based on impressive graphics and fun gameplay. The main complaints seem to relate to the controls, the inability to kick (!...

The original Tap Sports Baseball, released last August, was undoubtedly one of the best sports games for mobile devices last year. It was a strong effort at launch with a (somewhat uncommon now) friendly monetization structure that was improved upon through several significant updates as the months wore on. The sequel released last week and it retains everything that made the first so great while introducing some minor improvements on top. Tap Sports Baseball 2015 is a turn-based game (o...

The second edition of the mobile game Tap Sports Baseball just released and an Easter egg in the game has revealed a football version is on the way. On the outfield wall in Tap Sports Baseball 2015 is an advertisement for Tap Sports Football. Before turning to TSB the developers behind the game made Your Turn Football in 2013. It was a great game, particularly for a first attempt, with the design principles that made it so good being carried over to the baseball efforts. Areas in which ...

by Brendan Wilhide MLB Manager 2015 is the latest version of the popular iOOTP series of text-based manangement sims. The new name reflects the fact that the series has an official full MLB license for the first time in the game's history. The new license is a welcome addition to what has become a solid portable version of its more illustrious desktop counterpart, Out of the Park Baseball, and fans will welcome the new license atop an already familiar and strong feature set. Longtime fan...

Undoubtedly one of the best sports games for mobile devices last year was Tap Sports Baseball. Not only was it true to the sport on the field but it was designed in such a manner worthy of recognition when compared to the models utilized by many other mobile games. Check out my write-up on it here. Now a brand new edition of the game has released. The downside is that it requires starting over. That's something console gamers are accustomed to but mobile gamers may be less comfortable w...
