Early On-Demand Release Experiment Continues with Tower Heist
Earlier this summer began an experiment to see how well movies would sell on-demand before they arrived on DVD/Blu-ray - even potentially while still in theaters a two months after release - for $30 through DirectTV. Returns were not particularly encouraging with studios determining that the wait from theatrical release as well as the price were prohibitive to its success. Now a tweak is being made to see how it could work under different circumstances.
In this case November's Tower Heis...

Arrested Development Returning for Another TV Season Before Movie
Cult-favorite television series Arrested Development has gone through a number of rumors and apparent stages of development for a potential movie ever since it was cancelled in 2006. A proper script had to be completed and the logistics of getting the whole original cast back together was daunting. Still the movie looked to be inevitable and as of late was said to be on the right track.
Surprising news today though comes as series creator Mitch Hurwitz revealed at the New Yorker Festival ...

Beyond that I would highly recommend picking up Friday Night Lights - which finished it's brilliant five season run earlier this year. There are also a number of classics introduced on Blu-ray. (more...)...

Review: Real Steel
Real Steel will likely be described by many as "Rocky with robots" and that isn't too far off from the central themes that drive the emotions and plot developments. What the film does really well though is balance a family dynamic with the robot boxing action - blending the typical inspirational sports story with a futuristic scenario and relatable characters. It's brilliantly handled and leads to some of the most crowd-pleasing moments I've ever experienced in theater - creating the disctin...
