Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is officially out on July 14 but those with an EA Access subscription on Xbox One will get the opportunity to play it starting July 9. That's not anything new, as ever since the service rolled outĀ all EA games have been made available five days prior to their launch for a limited number of hours. What's interesting is that the number of hours being offered has expanded. EA Access subscribers will get 10 hours with McIlroy to use over that five day period - or any...

In late April the Collector's Edition of The Golf Club released to retail. That edition of the game followed the original all-digital release from way back in August 2014. Those who were just picking up the game, as a physical copy, were treated to content that those who purchased digitally had to wait for to arrive. After a lengthy delay in rolling out the downloadable content, which is being sold for $10, it released today on the PlayStation 4. Currently it isn't found in the actual Pla...
  • Rory McIlroy PGA Tour Has Startlingly Few Courses and Golfers
    Posted June 17th, 2015 at 7:45 am 30 Comments »
Recently, the promotion of Rory McIlroy PGA Tour started to put off vibe similar to how NHL 15 had been handled by EA Sports. Even after having extra time for development the level of content was notably being shielded, and the most prominent of which has been related to the licensing of courses and golfers. Now Operation Sports has learned the extent of both and it's clear why EA had been hiding it. There are only 8 licensed courses included in the game. Additionally there's one that is ...

Unfortunately it appears that the popular Country Clubs mode may be out, but some interesting things have been done with standard ranked and unranked online games and Tournaments. All players, and not just their shot arcs, for the first time will be visible on the course. Based on screenshots like the one above this looks somewhat awkward and poten...

  • The Golf Club Not Having Much Effect on Rory McIlroy PGA Tour Purchase Plans
    Posted May 14th, 2015 at 10:15 am 5 Comments »
Golf is one of the few sports now to feature actual competition with the arrival of the "sim" game The Golf Club last August and its recent push due to a retail release and accompanying feature update. It's appeal is fairly limited however, targeting the golfing purists, while the upcoming Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is clearly trying to draw in casuals as well. A poll was posted last week to gauge how the presence of The Golf Club could be affecting the approach for some towards Rory McIlroy P...

    Posted May 7th, 2015 at 10:00 am 2 Comments »
Rory McIlroy PGA Tour acts as the return of EA Sports' golf franchise after taking over a year off but it will enter the market with a well-regardedĀ golf game already available. The Golf Club will be its competition, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be much of a competition. The Golf Club has some advantages over McIlroy but also targets a smaller audience. It attempts to be a true simulation which means it's ultra-realistic and difficult. McIlroy on the other hand is offering d...
