Examining newly registered domain names usually leads nowhere however in some instances it has represented the first signs of unannounced projects. The existence and name of the upcoming SSX game was originally discovered through the registration of several domains by EA however so it remains something to monitor, it just is not always worth investing in what is found until there is more evidence found to support it. It is now worth noting that Microsoft recently registered the domains ssxk...

Sega has officially announced that Virtua Tennis 4 will support Kinect for Xbox 360 as well as Playstation Move and Wii MotionPlus. In doing so it becomes the first tennis offering to offer Kinect implementation. The closest thing currently would be table tennis in Kinect Sports which was good enough to show some of the potential that could be realized by extending the technology to a full-on tennis game. Of course the motion controls are optional and the game can be played using standard con...

The arrival of the Kinect Sports "Party Pack" downloadable content was a pleasant surprise especially considering it was being provided for free. Kinect Sports already carried a number of mini-games for each sport but the DLC provided a new one for each. Though the DLC only adds a little in the way of depth and variety through the new mini-games they actually turn out to be worthwhile additions. (more...)...

As the most nontraditional game in the rankings, Kinect Sports seemed an unlikely candidate all the way up through release. Motion gaming was not high on the list of desire when it came to sports offerings and the Kinect hardware was being questioned as to how viable its performance would be in the real world. Despite that Kinect Sports turned out to be a surprising source of pure fun providing good variety, options, and accuracy making for a very unique experience. (more...)...

Originally developed to be a free Xbox Live Arcade game, Joy Ride was tapped to be converted to a Kinect launch game while still in development. While the XBLA version was going to be free it was going to be supported through microtransactions. Now though it has hit the marketplace as a full priced Kinect title with the motion control support implemented. Unfortunately the final product feels it would have been more appropriate as an XBLA offering. (more...)...

Game Party: In Motion released two weeks after the wave of launch titles that arrived alongside Kinect for Xbox 360. The game attempts to present an amusement park and arcade atmosphere with mini-games that fit those respective environments.  A total of 16 mini-games have been included, some of which are mildly enjoyable but not terrible compelling, while others are downright awful. While my overall thoughts on the Kinect system have been surprisingly positive, when it comes to software there have been some very good games that take advantage of the technology and some disappointing ones. Kinect Sports quickly became my favorite game and over the last two weeks that feeling has not worn off. There are a couple very fun and addictive sports included along with a deep set of features including online play and Facebook tie-in "leagues". (more...)...

In my initial impressions of Kinect for Xbox 360 I noted that despite how capable the hardware was ultimately it would be the software that makes the experience worthwhile or not. Of all the Kinect games I've played so far I've only been let down by one and that is MotionSports from Ubisoft. (more...)...
