First Details on Legends in NHL 12

NHL 12 Demo Details Announced
EA Sports has revealed details on the upcoming demo for NHL 12. The demo will arrive for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on Tuesday August 23rd and feature three different modes to try out. The date puts the demo out three weeks in advance of the game which makes sense as the company would not have put it out on the same day (30th) that Madden NFL 12 releases. EA Sports has released two new videos focusing on big features being introduced in NHL 12. Following up on the Be a Pro "Revamped" trailerĀ from last weekĀ attention is turned to 'Anticipation AI' and 'Dynamic Goalies'. Amazon Now Offering Promotional Credits on NBA 2K12, NHL 12, and FIFA 12
Amazon continues to provide promotional credits for high profile releases and several more upcoming titles have received them. NHL 12, FIFA 12, and NBA 2K12 are all in line for preorder credits from the online retailer. They join Madden NFL 12 which has had the promo credits listed for some time now. NHL 12 Be a Pro Mode Trailer
EA Sports has released a new video for NHL 12 featuring the Be a Pro "Revamped" career mode. The trailer flashes through a number of aspects to the mode such as the ability to start a career and spend four season in the CHL, get drafted into the NHL, complete new on-ice tasks, save highlights of key moments, simulating to the next shift, and more. NHL 12 Shows Off Trifecta of Improvements
Though Thursday's 'Summer Showcase' from EA was a letdown given the lack of any announcements, the event did provide the opportunity to showcase NHL 12 and what is said to be its "hat trick of innovations". NHL 12 Cover Athlete is Now a Free Agent
By most accounts Steven Stamkos was an excellent choice as the cover athlete for EA Sports' NHL 12. The one thing many initially overlooked however was his looming status as a free agent. The Tampa Bay Lightning had until today to exclusively negotiate a contract with Stamkos and prevent him from hitting the market. An agreement was not completed and Stamkos is now a restricted free agent. A scenario where Stamkos ends up on another team still seems unlikely but it's possible nonetheless....

NHL 12 Cover Athlete is Steven Stamkos
EA Sports has just revealed that Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steven Stamkos has received the honor of being cover athlete for NHL 12. Stamkos was the number one pick in the 2008 draft, an All-Star, and led the league in goals in 2010 while coming in second this last season. The cover athlete is typically locked down a month or two before the season comes to an end and that means performance in the playoffs comes too late to influence the decision. NHL 12 Winter Classic Video
One of the big additions to NHL 12 now that the rival 2K series - which had carried the exclusive license - has been completely killed off is the 'Winter Classic'. Unfortunately limited to last year's venue Heinz Field and not the upcoming one to be held at Citizens Bank Park the outdoor setting will still be plenty of fun to play in if this new trailer is any indication. No Return of NHL 2K This Year
Today during their quarterly financial webcast Take Two announced that the NHL 2K series will not be returning this year. NHL 2K11 only appeared on the Wii and iPhone, and though not explicit in the statement it would appear that there are no plans for any non-mobile version of 2K12 - that is unless the company does not consider the Wii a "console".
