    As expected EA Sports has opened and extended the beta for NHL 18. Originally scheduled to come to a close yesterday the beta will now run through August 8. Codes are no longer needed as it can simply be downloaded from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace. Three different modes are featured in the online beta.     The NHL 18 online beta is now underway on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those who signed up to participate will receive a code to their registered email address along with two bonus codes that can be given away. Three different modes are featured in the online beta.     With the online beta for NHL 18 set to begin next Tuesday more details on the various gameplay improvements that were made official late last month and then put on display in a trailer last week have been released. In digging deeper into the new Defensive Skill Stick and Creative Attack Dekes, EA Sports is laying out both the more capable and flashy offensive arsenal with a potential counter weapon on the other side.  (more…)...

    Three weeks ago EA Sports began promotion for NHL 18 by announcing the cover, confirming new features, and revealing details on the online beta that will take place later this month. Today the spotlight has been put specifically on the gameplay improvements that earlier were only referred to, with a display of the new Defensive Skill Stick, Creative Attack Dekes, Creative AI, and 3-on-3 EA Sports Hockey League.  (more…)...

    There are two online betas taking place later this month. PES 2018 kicks off first featuring its new online co-op mode and then NHL 18's will begin on July 25. To take part in NHL's beta make sure to sign up here before then. EA Sports has now laid out a complete description of all that will be available with the beta. It will include EA Sports Hockey League with both standard and the new 3-on-3 OT style, regular online versus games, and the new arcade mode NHL Threes.  (more…)...
  • NHL 18 gets Connor McDavid for the cover and online beta in July

    EA Sports has now revealed the cover athlete for NHL 18 and accompanying features for the game. Surveys sent out to gauge reaction to potential features months ago revealed much of what to expect out of NHL 18 and now many of those have been officially confirmed. Connor McDavid has been chosen for the cover and the special edition goes with the theme of "Young Stars" while an online beta has been announced.  (more…)...

    Noticeably absent from this year's EA Play/E3 will be NHL 18. While NHL has generally always had some presence in the mid-June events this time around EA Sports is holding back anything substantial until the NHL Awards on June 21. To keep from being completely forgotten with everything else happening the company released a teaser trailer that gives practically nothing away but does potentially hint at a more arcade slant coming to the franchise.     Over the years features for upcoming EA Sports games have sometimes leaked through consumer surveys distributed with the intention of gauging reception to certain ideas and then assessing respective priorities. The feedback would help shape the final feature set as not all laid out would end up making the cut.
