2010 FIFA World Cup Release Date
While speculation continues as to the new EA Sports game that will be announced in January one of the most glaring possibilities is that it will simply be making the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup official. A dedicated World Cup game has been released in each of the respective years since 1998.
It now appears that the release date is out there which lends credence to that belief. Amazon and Gamefly have both listed 2010 FIFA World Cup for Tuesday April 27th. Obviously at this point it is a te...
Talk of Take Two Acquisition Resurfaces
After the fourth quarter fiscal report for Take Two arrived, which foreshadowed the likely end of the NHL 2K franchise, some more news came to light. Investor Carl Icahn revealed he has purchased additional stock in Take Two and now owns 11% of the company. His past history of intervention suggests he could pressure Take Two executives to seek a sale of the company. Kotaku has a full write-up on the situation that is worth reading here.
If it were to play out that way the obvious question...
2K Response Regarding NHL Series
Late last night I posted an article regarding the lack of NHL 2K11 being mentioned in the list of titles for Take Two over the next fiscal year. NHL 2K had been included in the report in previous years making its omission glaring. The situation is mirroring that of College Hoops before it was officially canceled.
Chris Littmann at First Cuts was able to get comment from 2K Sports regarding the future of NHL 2K. As he points out the following statement speaks volumes as to the situation.

NHL 2K Omission May Be Sign of Cancellation
Ever since Take Two decided to shut down College Hoops due to the lack of sales potential vs development costs the next game that appeared to be in danger was the NHL 2K series. Sales have been dropping to miniscule levels as EA Sports NHL has grown and dominated the market. While it has been clear that resources have been limited with NHL 2K there have been no official statements made as to the future of the franchise.
However now there is an indication that NHL 2K11 may not be in develo...
#10 of 2009: Fight Night Round 4
The ranking of games in the best of 2009 list is based primarily on the personal amount of enjoyment had with a particular title. Some other factors include whether advertised features were fully delivered on, post-release support, community interaction and communication, overall gameplay experience, feature set, and online play performance. Again this is a personal take on the games. The analysis is weighted largely towards those which I had the most fun with while considering them as a who...
EA Sports Facing Tough Decision on Tiger
Over a week ago I wrote my first take on the Tiger Woods situation. At the time it was basically just about infidelity and suspicious circumstances surrounding a car accident. Sponsors were sticking by him and public opinion, while down, was still in support of him as a sports figure. That all has spiraled down since with news that has worsened on a daily basis significantly changing perception. It now may just be a matter of time before EA Sports has to drop Tiger as the face of their golf ...
Madden 10 Top Sports Game in November
NPD released the official sales numbers for November yesterday. With the number of big titles that came out during the month the top 20 included just one sports game. What sports game that was does come as mild surprise.

FNR4 DLC Update and New Patch in January
Recently EA Sports pulled the latest downloadable content for Fight Night Round 4 known as the "Champions Pack 2" from the Xbox 360 Marketplace. This was after consumers who downloaded it reported it was causing consoles to freeze. The initial word was that it would be fixed, resubmitted, and hopefully available once again before Christmas.
Earlier tonight though in a statement on the game's official forum an updated plan was laid out. A patch to fix an exploit will be coming in mid-late ...
