    by pastapadre
    Posted July 16th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
Fight Night has proven one of the few sports franchises that has mainstream appeal. Fight Night Round 3 represented the second strongest franchise in US sales for EA Sports behind only Madden. After taking a few years off Fight Night Round 4 came out last month though it was difficult to judge the buzz around the game. Discussion online primarily centered around the controversial decision to remove the optional button control scheme and UFC 2009 Undisputed had released to high praise. We ...

    Posted July 13th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
UFC 100 may be over, but UFC president, Dana White is keeping the action going by waging a war on EA Sports. The outspoken White told MMAJunkie.com that EA threw the first punch by saying MMA wasn’t a real sport. "EA Sports told us, 'You're not a real sport,'" White said. "'We wouldn't touch this thing. We want nothing to do with this.'" With EA Sports passing on the rights to the UFC's video game license, rival software company THQ elected to partner with mixed martial arts' biggest...

Randy Couture is expected to be the cover athlete for EA Sports MMA according to SportsBusiness Daily (via First Cuts). The game is still a year away from releasing but this news makes it clear that he will be most recognizable name that EA obtains. Former five-time UFC champion Randy Couture is believed to be the only fighter currently under contract to Zuffa who will appear in the EA version. "The Natural" managed to ink an exclusive deal during his 11-month courtroom fight with the UFC. ...

While aware that the upcoming patch for UFC 2009 Undisputed would address the issue with quitting in online matches it was unknown what else would be included. THQ has now released the full details of what will be in the patch in the game's forum. As to when it will go live it appears it has not yet been sent for certification meaning it is still at least another couple weeks away from arriving. We recognize premature match quitting as the biggest online issue and have taken steps to fix...

    Posted July 2nd, 2009 at 2:06 am
One of the intriguing stories leading up to and through the release of UFC 2009 Undisputed was how the fighters were being forced into lifetime contracts. Now comes news that the UFC may be taking things even further by intimidating fighters who are not currently signed by them by making it known that they will never be accepted into the UFC should they sign on for EA Sports' MMA. BloodyElbow has the info as pulled from forum sources. I hear that all mma managers were informed that if any o...

Something I've done in that past that has been popular is taking a look at the differences in games on the 360 when played from disc vs the hard drive. Installing to the HDD has shown performance improvements in the games as well as cutting down on the stress to and noise from the console. Here is a look at the difference being seen in Fight Night Round 4. (more...)...

    by pastapadre
    Posted June 25th, 2009 at 6:45 am
Through a few of the EA Sports titles the Photo Game Face feature has been evolving and improving. For Fight Night Round 4 this is a selling point in being able to add to the stable of fighters through creations of your own or by downloading others. I decided to look through the boxer gallery and found some that looked quite good and others that showed little resemblance to who it was supposed to represent. What are your thoughts on the feature? Have you created a fighter through Photo Fa...
