  • #10 of 2008: Tiger Woods 09

Tiger Woods 09 delivered a solid all-around experience while enhancing the online enabled aspects of the game. As with many of the other EA Sports titles it attempted to increase its accessibility, here with the addition of Hank Haney assisting with your progression. Ultimately it lands at #10 in my Top Games of 2008 and not any higher because it is golf and there is a limit to how much I can get out of it. Improvements were made to GamerNet which is an innovative feature introduced in 08...
  • Nascar Coming To The Wii
    by pastapadre
    Posted November 25th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
The Wiire has news today that EA Sports is developing Nascar for the Wii. Apparently it will not attempt to replicate the Nascar games on the 360 or PS3 and instead will go the route of driving karts, possibly with caricatures of the licensed drivers. No telling yet if heads of drivers will be massively oversized to balance out the cartoonish nature of the karts. While the karts may resemble an idea from Mario Kart, most likely the tracks will remain the same oval shape, true to the NASCAR ...
  • Quick Tiger Woods 09 Online Play Thoughts

While I don't yet have the 360 version of Tiger 09 I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the Wii version included the new spin to online with simultaneous play. It just seemed like a feature that would've gotten overlooked as some others have in previous games for the console. I got a chance to play through some and have included a video to show what it looks like. You'll notice I haven't been able to to grasp putting well yet but I wanted to get a demonstration up anyway. This is ...

Even through it has only been a short time I've spent with Tiger 09 for the Wii I've been quite impressed with it. From the full feature set including the simultaneous online play to the control response which feels as close to 1:1 as anything the Wii has offered they seem to have delivered a very solid and fun experience. This could actually be the first time I've preferred a Wii version over the 360/PS3 version. There is the balance between the motion controls and mini-games for the Wii ag...
  • Madden 09 All-Play Impressions

Although NCAA Football 09 began the All Play line of games for the Wii, the first true game to actually represent the ideals is Madden 09. In stark contrast to NCAA, Madden is a fully featured game and is being received well by consumers along with reviewers. Continue on to read my full thoughts on the game including several videos showing off gameplay from the various modes. (more...)...
  • EA Sports Developing Tennis Game
    by pastapadre
    Posted August 20th, 2008 at 3:12 am
One sport that has been missing from EA Sports lineup of games has been tennis. Today EA announced that they are currently working on one. The game will release first on the Wii in 2009 before coming to other consoles. It is being developed out of EA Canada and will be their first game to use the upcoming Wii MotionPlus. EA SPORTS will bring tennis to life and allow players to experience the pressure and excitement of competing in the greatest theaters in the game, and it will be the only v...
  • NCAA Football 09 Wii Impressions

As the first of the All-Play titles it was pretty obvious that EA Sports didn't have much confidence in NCAA Football 09 for the Wii. I even noted that a while back when EA was showing off the whole All-Play lineup...except for NCAA. Even feature wise it didn't match up lacking the online component that the others had. I took a different approach with this game (and will do the same with all Wii titles) going into it looking for something different. Would it provide a quick paced and fun ex...
  • Looking at EA’s upcoming Wii releases

Joystiq recently gave hands-on impressions of the EA Sports "All Play" titles coming out in the near future on the Wii. Included are the 09 versions of NCAA Football, Madden, Tiger Woods, NBA Live, and FIFA. Here are some excerpts as well as my thoughts on the potential each one has. While the "All Play" concept should result in better quality products that have wider appeal it looks like how successful that will be in year one will vary. (more...)...
  • NHL 2K9 coming to the Wii
    by pastapadre
    Posted June 12th, 2008 at 7:19 pm
2K Sports today announced that NHL 2K9 will be released on the Wii in the fall with a likely date of September 9th. 2K9 was already known to be on the way for the 360, PS3, and PS2 featuring Rick Nash as the cover athlete and will be built from the ground up after the studio move to Visual Concepts. “It’s our goal this year to bring the fun back to hockey video games,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “NHL 2K9 for Wii includes the full feature set as available o...
  • First details on Madden 09 for the Wii

As with what we've seen from NCAA Football 09, this year's release on the Wii for Madden 09 will help to kickoff the All-Play brand of games on that console. The idea behind it is to make the games more inviting to inexperienced players who have felt the games have been intimidating and confusing. The entire line of All-Play will be designed from the ground-up for the Wii as opposed to receiving a port of the PS2 version with motion controls tacked on and mini-games added. Yesterday Peter M...
