2009 NFL Mock Draft
With the NFL Draft only a few days away the anticipation is at a fever pitch. Over the last month I've been attempting to get a feel for which direction teams are headed and actually completing the Madden Mock Draft helped me along in that. Don't forget to track the events today and submit some suggestions for questions by following me on Twitter.
Here is my full attempt at a two round mock draft. Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

UFC 2009 Demo Impressions and Videos
As just recently reported the demo for UFC 2009 Undisputed will be available next Thursday for the 360 and PS3. There was no indication of anything more to it, however Gamestop is now giving out codes to unlock and download the 360 version of the demo early to those who have preordered the game. This is how I was able to get the demo yesterday and now I am very thankful that I did.
Given that UFC is a new franchise I've remained hesitant to commit too much hope to it. In may be due in p...
Is Peyton Manning the Madden 10 Cover Athlete?
The place-holder cover for Madden 10 was recently posted by Gamestop. Usually this leads to some speculation as to whether the silhouette image is the actual cover or if it's something generic that will be replaced after the official announcement. In the past there have been times it has turned out to be the cover image but more often it wasn't. The ones for NCAA Football 10 are actually the covers from 09 just switched around.
So I took a look at the one for Madden 10. For whatever reaso...
The Wrap-Up: MLB 2K9
Heading into the release of MLB 2K9 there was a certain sense of optimism. Outside of one clearly identified problem everything pointed towards an improved offering, one that while maybe not great would be enough to satisfy baseball gaming fans on the 360. Unfortunately it didn't take long to realize that not only did that not turn out to be the case, but it is far worse than anyone would've anticipated.

The Wrap-Up: MLB 09 The Show
At times I've had some difficulty writing about The Show over the last couple months which is actually due to what a quality product 08 was. Usually you can assess the previous iteration and have an idea of what you're looking for out of the next. With 08 the only real glaring weakness was with online play. It is tougher to identify and discuss the improvements to a game when it was already so good to begin with.
So that's where I start when evaluating MLB 09 The Show. I already knew it w...
Where Will T.O. Go?
With the news that the Dallas Cowboys have cut Terrell Owens now all the speculation has turned to where he might end up. Given that he has burned so many bridges there aren't a whole lot of viable opportunities. He will be looking to go to a team set up for a playoff run that has a good QB however ones that might need a receiver. Several teams have actually already come out and stated they want nothing to do with him.
So who will end up singing him? Or will he even be able to find a team...
Installing MLB 2K9 to the Hard Drive
When the NXE update for the 360 came out back in November I analyzed the benefits that were seen when installing games and playing them from the hard drive. You can check out those results here. That was apparently a popular feature as I have received numerous requests to do the same with MLB 2K9.
While I can't speak yet to any marginal performance improvements that may or may not come with the install I did compare loading times for the game when played with the disc vs the hard drive.

EA Should Consider An Arcade Baseball Game

With 2K Sports holding the third-party MLB license they have tried to squeeze the most out of it by branching out through several off-titles. The BIGS, MLB Front Office Manager, MLB Superstars, MLB Stickball, MLB Fantasy All-Stars, and MLB Power Pros (as distributor). What has frustrated me as of late is that they haven't followed up with a sequel to The BIGS which is a game I enjoyed immensely, sold relatively well, and had a lot of potential for ways to be even better.
Recently EA Sport...
Reviewers Get One Right and One Wrong

The first two sports titles of the year have been released in MLB Front Office Manager and 3 on 3 NHL Arcade. Both have been hit hard by reviewers despite their lower prices. In the case of MLB FOM I had some positive hopes for it and initially liked it but a couple major issues have negated all that and with a patch unlikely there isn't much hope of getting much enjoyment out of the game. On the other hand 3 on 3 NHL Arcade delivers exactly what it promised as a light-hearted fun offering b...
The Rise of Online Gaming

It wasn't too long ago that online play was an afterthought when it came to sports games. Whether it be bare bones offerings, laggy performance, or disconnection issues there was not much time or effort being spent to make on making for great experience.
At the time the reasoning being given was that not enough people played online. Internal data showed that many who did go online would play only once or a couple times and then never again. That provided their justification for not spendi...
