The end of the month will bring the first ever community event hosted by SCEA as myself and a select few others head down to San Diego to check out MLB 09 The Show. While the event takes place at a point in development where the game is already complete, this does provide an opportunity not only to collect information and impressions for 09 but also to begin offering invaluable feedback and suggestions to be considered going forward. *Inaugural San Diego Studios “MLB09 The Show” Commu...

955: Alright all set to go. I've got the Pats @ Bills and Giants @ Vikings as the early games and will follow along with the others. 957: The intense wind I have to think favors the Bills. Both teams may be forced to almost run exclusively. Field goals will be an adventure. 1004: Bad weather games are always fun to watch. Going to be interesting to see how they deal with this wind. 1008: The first punt goes only 13 yards because of the wind. Crazy. (more...)...
  • Live Blog on Sunday 12/28

With a big slate of games scheduled for Sunday I thought it would be a good time to hold another live blog. It is shaping up to be a great day of football. Beginning at kickoff of the first set of games I will have up a live blog posting which will be updated frequently throughout the course of the day and possibly even during the Sunday night game. I've listed out a few of the more compelling matchups that have huge playoff implications. Patriots @ Bills (1ET): In unfamiliar territory i...

Playstation Home finally hit open beta yesterday. While it isn't offering much right now it seems likely that gaming companies will be adding their own spaces where they can advertise and sell Home related items of their own with potential for more. I wouldn't be surprised to see EA and 2K Sports with theirs sometime in the near future. Also you can set up clubs which can assist in launching games with members. I believe I can only host one club but that individuals are able to join a handfu...

As some of you may have already noticed I have installed a new comment system. This one seems to work well in both Firefox and IE and has replies show up in threaded form. It also allows registered users to give a "thumbs up"  or "thumbs down" to any particular comment. I'll be looking to find a way to allow for the editing of comments in the near future. I've started back using Twitter so anyone that would like to follow along here is my address. I've also added the last two updat...

With the recent lull news wise I've been planning ahead for some of the soon to be released games. I should have Facebreaker tomorrow or Friday which will lead into some activities tying into that game and NHL 09 follows shortly thereafter. Here are just some of the things to look forward to. I'll be doing something for NBA 2K9 but am waiting to hear about the unannounced online element before planning it. If you are interested in taking part in any of these feel free to comment and just kee...
  • NFL Opener Live Blog on Thursday

    Posted September 2nd, 2008 at 11:46 am 58 Comments
Something I've done a few times now that has seemed to be real successful is holding live blogs. The one for the NFL Draft and at the football community event actually represented the most traffic had received to those respective dates. So with the NFL season beginning on Thursday night featuring two teams that couldn't thrill me much less I thought it would be interesting to post comments throughout in the live blog. Even though I can't stand them it is a rivalry and the opener so it is ...
  • Pastapadre NFL Pick’em

With the NFL season fast approaching it was time for me to set up the annual pickem. This is something I always enjoy especially since I've won two out of the last four years. The competition should be stronger though with an even larger group involved. This will be a straight pick'em and not factor in the spread. The low week for each person will not be dropped so it is important that you get your picks in every week. Missing one would potentially eliminate you from contention. Click ...

Last night I opened up a thread in the forum to take on questions from the community. Whether game related or not I'll take the time and try to answer (at least to the extent that I can). So far it has been interesting, with topics ranging from the Madden related to preferred type of shampoo and favorite character on Lost. Once given the go-ahead to discuss NBA Live 09 I'll have a lengthy report on the game however there will still be quite a lot that I won't have included within it. So for...
  • Out today for NBA Live 09 Community Event

UPDATE: Unfortunately we have been asked to hold back on posting details from the event until sometime next week. I'll have a ton of info and impressions to share at that point. I expect to be away from the computer for most of the day due to the NBA Live 09 Community Event. The schedule is packed full of play time along with producer presentations and interaction. The NBA Draft follows and I'm unsure if I will have an online connection during that time. Continue to drop any thoughts or sug...
