After a brutal week 1 loss, the Raiders look to rebound against the seemingly lowly chiefs. Raiders coaching staff decided to keep all roster spots the same for this week and see how things play out.
The Raiders need to improve on the offensive side of the ball, specifically the running game. The Chiefs win the toss and elect to receive. On the kickoff, Hiram Eugene comes out of nowhere and makes a huge hit on the ball carrier to force a fumble and a turnover. The Raiders take over at the KC 13. They come out firing right away scoring on the first play on a hook up between Russell and Tight End, Tony Stewart. The Raider defense then comes up big with an interception at midfield by Kirk Morrison. Later that quarter the D steps up again with an interception by Michael Huff. McFadden punches one through from 3 yards to bring the score to 14-0. The Chiefs burn the rest of the first quarter on their next drive that resulted in a Larry Johnson 7 yard TD run. The injury bug bites again as McFadden goes down again, this time for 4 weeks with a sprained elbow. A good punt return put the Chiefs in range for a field goal, but good pressure made the kick miss wide right. Janakowski then hit a 53 yarder to put the Raiders ahead 17-7. The Chiefs answer with a touchdown pass with 2:33 left in the first half. Two sacks put an end to any chance of a scoring drive for the Silver and Black.
On the first play of the second half Russell throws an interception on their own 29. Knocking on the door, rookie QB Tyler Thigpen, challenges Asomugha and it gets returned 100 yards for a TD. 24-14 Raiders. The Chiefs came and answered with 2:20 left in the 3rd making it 24-21. The bad just keeps getting worse as Jamarcus Russell gets an abdominal strain and is out for the remainder of the game. Andrew Walter comes in and promptly throws his first interception of the year. A second INT by Walter sets up a 5 yard TD to let the Chiefs take the lead. After a third pic the defense holds strong and only allows a field goal. The hopes of a win are dashed when a fourth INT of the half by Walter is returned for a TD. Now 0-2 after the 38-24 loss, the Raiders look toward the Bills hoping to get their offense together.
Game Stats :
Passing - Russell : 11 of 16 1 TD 1 INT 81.7 Rating
Walter : 5 of 15 5 INT 5.0 Rating (LOL)
Rushing - McFadden :5 Att 18 yds 1 TD 3.6 ypc
Bush : 7 Att 43 yds 6.1 ypc
Receiving - Miller : 5 rec 16 yds
Curry : 3 rec 62 yds
McFadden : 2 rec 9 yds
Walker : 2 rec 28 yds
Injuries : McFadden - 4 weeks elbow sprain
Russell - missed second half abdominal strain
Curry - missed a few plays with hip bursitis
Need to finish. Jumped on 'em early and let up for a little and ended up costing me. Need to keep McFadden healthy or else the offense is gonna sputter. Bush is just too slow. 'til next week.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png (0-2) vs http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/buffalo.png (1-1)
The Raiders look to get their first win this year as they try to knock off the Buffalo Bills on the road. The game conditions are a sunny with little wind.
The Raiders win the toss and choose to receive. They quickly move the ball into Bills' territory before a bad decision by Russell costs them the possession and a good chunk of field position. The Bills convert that turnover into seven points as they complete a corner over Asomugha. 7-0 Bills
Two straight dropped passes cause another 3 and out for the Raiders. Russell is learning how important accuracy as he misses a wide open Lelie and ends up in a Bills hands. Luckily the defense steps up and forces a punt. With two minutes left in the half Russell throws his third pick of the afternoon missing yet another open receiver. Oakland returns the favor as Morrison snatches one out of the air and takes it to the BUF 39. The swarming Buffalo defense forces another turnover and converts with a touchdown with 53 seconds left. Another turnover is the result of trying to force a touchdown before the half. 14-0 Bills
The Raiders have played the worst collective half of football this year and are lucky to only be down 14 points. The only positive is that the run defense has completely shut down Marshawn Lynch. A fired up defense comes out and shuts down the Bills offense forcing a punt. Raider receiver cannot seem to hold onto any ball forcing Lechler out onto the field once again. Chris Johnson steps up and picks off Edwards to get the ball back. Another tipped ball by a receiver ends up going the other way. After the game coach Kiffen said there will be drastic changes and the WR position and that the performance was quote "UNACCEPTABLE". Jamarcus leads the Raiders on a 85 yard drive resulting in a 1 yard run by Luke Lawton. 14-7 Bills The Raiders get a stop and great field position along with it. Luke Lawton takes this game over as he scores again on a playaction pass from the 6. The Raiders opt to go for two and convert. 15-14 Raiders
The Raiders defense continues to play well as Kirk Morrison gets another interception bringing the ball to the 27 of Buffalo. A fantastic play by a Bills' linebacker gets the ball right back. A dagger is put into the Raiders back as Michael Huff misses when making a play on the ball and Lee Evans scores. They don't get the conversion. 20-15 Bills Jarmacus shows his star power as he leads his team all the way down the field and eventually to the game winning score on an 8 yard TD pass to Zach Miller with 12 seconds left. 23-20 Raiders
They got their first win of this young season as they look to have this momentum carry on to next week against the Chargers. The Wide Receiver position will be looked at very closely and will always be open to new talent through whatever means.

The Raider depth chart will be changing on the offensive side of the ball. At wider receiver Lelie replaces Curry as the second WR. Higgins moves to 3 and Schilens will be the 4. Hopefully this corps can get it done.
I am also considering making some trades to bring in either some good picks or a good receiver. I don't want to make it too unrealistic so give me your thoughts.

Chaz Schilens could get some crucial time next week.

After a porous game from the the receivers, the front office has decided that enough is enough making a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Raiders Get :
Desean Jackson

The Eagles Get :
Javon Walker
4th round pick
Overall the front office viewed this trade as a positive as it helped to relieve some salary cap while getting younger. Jackson can also be used as a weapon in the return game.

The Raiders look to try turn their win last week into a streak against the always dangerous San Diego Charges led by Ladainian Tomlinson
New Raider Desean Jackson will attempt to bring the receiving game to a new level against an elite secondary.
Key Match ups :
Raiders Run D vs http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/2553.jpg
The Raiders held the Bills Lynch in check all game last week. Let's see if they can do it against arguably the best running back in the league.

Jackson versus Cromartie looks to be one of the most intriguing match ups this week as both will be essential to how well both teams perform.
http://nusportspost.com/raiders_dline.JPG
The Raiders win the toss and elect to receive. They would drive down the field on the back of Russell all the way to the 3 yard line before having a 4th and goal situation. Coaches decide to go for it and it pays off as Russell hits Jackson in the front of the endzone. 7-0 OAK San Diego takes all the momentum away as Sprolles returns the kickoff to the Oakland 8 yard line. The Raiders thought they had a turnover until a facemask penalty negated it. leaving the Chargers with 1st and goal from the 4. Some great defense holds the Charges to 3 points. 7-3 OAK More great offense allows the offense to drive all the way down the field for a 1 yd TD run by Lawton. 14-3 OAK On the Raiders next possession Russell hooks up with Higgins for a 45 yd pitch and catch. 21-3 OAK A Kirk Morrison INT stops the only successful drive the Chargers have had so far. A great drive is halted when Russell is intercepted in the endzone. Oakland's next drive results in a Janakowski 47 yarder. 24-3 OAK The Chargers can only muster 3 more points the rest of the half leaving the score 24-6 OAK.
The Chargers get 3 points as they waste 4 minutes of the clock. 24-9 OAK Russell is picked off again in the red zone. His second of the day. Girbril Wilson repays the favor as he picks off a Phillip Rivers pass in the endzone. Russell seems to be falling apart as another interception gives the Chargers the ball in the redzone. Kirk Morrison gets another INT this time on the 5 yard line. The Chargers defense comes up big stopping the Raiders and forcing a punt from deep in their own territory. This time the Charges get it into the endzone and need a 2 pt conversion. They get it. 24-17 OAK Russell redeems himself hooking up with Jackson again on a 40 yd TD. 31-17 OAK Vincent Jackson beats Chris Johnson for a TD with 2:28 left in the game. 31-24 OAK They kick it deep relying on their defense to come up big. The Raiders get the ball and never let it go. Final Score - 31-24 Oakland

If the Raiders hope to win they will need to hold Drew Brees in check. Nnamdi Asomugha will be a key part of that as he looks to shut down Marques Colston.

Recap :
This game looked to be a defensive struggle early on as both punters got their fair share of work in during the first quarter. This scoreless streak wouldn't last long as after the first the two teams combined for a total of 65 points. Jamarcus Russell finally had the game he was looking for throwing 4 touchdown passes, two of them to Desean Jackson. Drew Brees and the Saints put together a lot of good drives but were halted on more than one occasion by costly turnovers, including a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Chris Johnson. This 45-20 victory puts the Raiders at 3-2 and tied for first in their division. Next week the Raiders have the Jets at home where Brett Favre has torn them up before.

Recap :
The upstart Raiders came into the game Sunday against the Jets looking to extend their winning streak to 4 games. Brett Favre took that though and shattered, dismantled, and dismembered it. Favre had 4 touchdowns on the day and was almost perfect completing 23 of 25 passes. The Raiders pass defense wasn't the only problem. The O-line gave Russell almost no time to throw. The Raiders also had 2 fumbles in the red zone on potential scoring drives. When asked about the turnovers Coach Cable said, "The way we played today needs to be a one time thing. We will never win with all the turnovers, especially in the red zone. But we will go back, watch film, and look to improve for next week.

Recap :
The 3-3 Raiders came in overconfident facing the 1-5 Ravens, and the Ravens pounded them for it. The game was over after the second quarter as the Ravens put up 20 points. The Raider O-line provided no holes for any running game and it cost them badly as the passing game was going no where. The one bright spot was Derrick Burgess who had 2 sacks and 4 tackles. The Raiders have been one of the streakiest teams in the league and hope these losing ways won't last long.

ALAMEDA - After two straight weeks of poor pass defense, interim coach Tom Cable has decided enough is enough. The Raiders who until 2 weeks ago were on a three game winning streak, have now lost 2 straight in embarrassing fashion.
"The way our defense has been playing these last couple of games in just not going to cut it, Cable said, we need to step up, or let me tell you, there will be some changes."
When asked on how they've played, Asomugha said, "It's obvious to see that we aren't performing to our capabilities. We have a bunch of talent on both sides of the ball and to go out there and lose games the way we have is disappointing."
Even with their poor play, the Raiders are still in the playoff race and have a good opportunity to overcome the Broncos to win their division.

After the recent news regarding Chris Johnson being demoted to nickel back in favor of Stanford Routt, Johnson was questioned by the media.
Reporter #1 :Why do you feel you were benched?
Johnson : I have no idea what they were thinking. It seemed to come out of no where and honestly, I think it's Bull****.
Reporter #2 : So you feel you've been playing at a high enough level to continue to start?
Johnson : Of course. I feel I'm one of the best corners in the conference and the fact that I've been benched is just ridiculous. Trust me though, I'll be back. *Storms out angrily*

Stanford Routt vs Michael Jenkins is an interesting match up. In Routt you have a player starting for the first time all year going up against a proven receiver. Routt will need to step up big if the Raiders have any intention of stopping Matt Ryan.
Quote from Stanford Routt:
Reporter : So how does it feel starting for the first time? Do you think this move should have been made earlier?
Routt : It feels great. I've been looking forward to this the entire week and it's good to know that all my hard work payed off. I can't speak for the coaches on whether this should or shouldn't have happened earlier. I'm just going to go out there and do my best to help the team win.

Recap :
After two tough losses the Raiders had a lot of anger stored up. Unfortunately, the Falcons happened to be in Oakland this week, where all of that fury was unleashed in a brutal 42-17 win. The Raiders jumped out to and early 14-0 lead only to see it diminish and eventually leave as the Falcons put up a quick 17 points. Coach had to have said something at halftime because the Raiders scored early and often the rest of the way. Led by Darren McFadden's 3 touchdowns the Raiders simply ran down the clock the 4th quarter. Next up is Carolina.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png vs. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/carolina.png
The Oakland Raiders are coming off a big 42-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons. That win has put them 1 game behind the Denver Broncos. A good winning streak could catapult them into the playoffs, but it all starts with the win over the Carolina Panthers.
Key Match Up :
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/4489.jpg vs. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/2622.jpg
The panthers have a very potent offense and all of that begins with Steve Smith. He is the center of their offense and if Nnamdi Asomugha can shut him down, the Raiders stand a good chance of winning this week.
Asomugha on Smith :
"Obviously he's one of the best in the business, but I feel that with the schemes we have in and the different things we are going to throw at the Panthers that we have a good chance of containing him."

Raider Offense Keeps on Chugging
http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/gallery/data/514/Russell_Offense.jpg
Recap :
The Raiders came into this week needing a win to keep alive in the always competitive AFC West and they got just that. After a first quarter in which the two teams drives seemed identical, the Raiders found a way to stop Carolina's potent offense while the Raiders offense continued to put up points on the board. Steve Smith had a decent game but was unable to put the Panthers on his back as ultimately it was the Raiders running down the clock in the 4th quarter. The Raiders look to make it 3 in a row against the Miami Dolphins.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png vs. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/miami.png
The upstart Oakland Raiders have surprised many critics and skeptics so far this year and plan to continue that pattern tomorrow against the 4-5 Miami Dolphins. The Raiders have won 2 straight games and are now tied for first in their division. A win here could give them enough momentum to ride all the way into the playoffs.
Key Match Up:
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/11238.jpg vs. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/1826.jpg
The Raiders have relied heavily on rookie sensation Darren McFadden this year and hope to ride him again this week. He will be going against a scrappy defense led my loud-mouthed linebacker, Joey Porter. McFadden and the rest of the Raiders will look to silence Porter and the rest of the Dolphins.
Porter on the Raiders :
Honestly, I think they soft. They don't want to hit you. Tomorrow, we are gonna show em how to play real football. Not that two hand touch they been playin on the west coast.

Sloppy game leads to Raider Win
http://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Oakland+Raiders+v+Tennessee+Titans+DIm4uMw-7a7l.jpg
Recap :
It was a wet and slippery field and it showed today on the field. Don't let any stats fool you. This game was flat out ugly. Both teams committed 4 turnovers in the first quarter alone. Fortunately, the Raiders had good field position all day long and were able to ride Darren McFadden all day. Although he didn't have the stats to prove it, he was fantastic, getting the Raiders to the goaline three times just to have someone else score it. There isn't much else to be said about this game except that it needs to be forgotten.

The now 6-4 Raiders are riding a 3 game winning streak and have come from nowhere to take the division lead away from the Broncos. Now the Broncos have a chance to take that lead back as they hope to repeat the performance they had in Week 1.
Key Match Up :

Week 1 was a week to forget for the Raiders but most remember how Cutler and company torched the Raiders for 44 points. The Raiders need to contain Cutler and their passing attack in order to secure a win.

Colossal Comeback leads to Raider Victory
http://www.raiderfans.net/forum/gallery/data/500/Michael_Huff_2006.jpg
Recap :
What looked to be a laugher early turned into a great game for the Oakland Raiders. After both teams went 3 and out, the Broncos had two straight touchdowns off of Jamarcus Russell interceptions. The bad play continued as the Raiders went down 35-14 at halftime. The second half belonged to Darren McFadden who put up an astounding 301 all-purpose yards along with 4 TD's. The Raiders played a hard fought game and it really showed the heart that this team has. They are now 1 game up on the Chargers with 5 to play as they face the Chiefs next week.

The Raiders, now a top their division, look to widen the gap against their the division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs. Recap :
The Raiders continue to find ways to win. The game started off bad as Jamarcus Russell threw an interception on the opening drive. This would lead to a Chiefs touchdown. After that score, the Raiders defense took over the game, holding the Chiefs to just 2 field goals the rest of the way. The Raiders offense wasn't as efficient as it usually is but still managed to put up 34 points. Darren McFadden missed two quarters of play with a knee injury but bounced back and scored his 11th touchdown of the year. The Raiders face their third division opponent in a row next week against the San Diego Chargers.

The Raiders look to sweep all three divisional opponents with a win over the always dangerous San Diego Chargers. The Chargers led by star running back Ladanian Tomlinson are one of the top offenses in the league and can put up points in a hurry. The Raiders defense is nothing to write home about but has come on strong as of late and looks to repeat their performance against Kansas City.
Key Match Up :

The Oakland defense did it again. After holding Kansas City to just 13 points, they came back and held down San Diego to just 10. The Raider offense followed its usual pattern which is to put up gaudy numbers. The Oakland offense has now scored 30+ points in the last 5 games. Kirk Morrison is continuing his MVP year with 2 more interceptions. Oh wait I didn't tell you? Yes Kirk Morrison, the middle linebacker, is in 2nd place in the MVP race. The New England Patriots are next up for the Raiders who haven't lost since a brutal loss to Baltimore 6 weeks ago.

Offensive Assault lands Raiders at 10-4
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k153/plum_prudhomme/7.jpg
Recap :
What seemed like a great game going in....wasn't. Plain and simple, the Raiders dominated the entire game on both sides of the ball. Charlie Batch, who is having his career year, was picked off 4 times, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Russell on the other hand, finally had the spectacular game he was looking for, throwing for over 300 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Oakland offense put up season highs in almost every offensive category as they trounced the Patriots 62-37. With that win the Raiders have now clinched a playoff spot and are looking to obtain a first round bye.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png vs. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/houston2.png
The playoff bound Raiders host the lowly Texans in a week 16 match up. The Raiders offense has been explosive most of the years, but at times can be shut down completely. The 6-8 Texans are out of the playoff hunt and have nothing to play for except pride. Remember though; the record of the teams the Raiders have lost to is a lowly 40-45, so anything can happen.
Key Match Up :
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/3538.jpg vs. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/9587.jpg
Mario Williams is a incredible pass rusher and if he is able to get to Jamarcus Russell, the Raiders may be in trouble.

Raiders Brought Down to Earth
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3292/2917694226_0bcfd31897.jpg?v=0
Recap :
The Raiders did exactly what Coach Cable said not too and laid an egg. The offense was absolutely atrocious and didn't even score until after half. The defense wasn't much better allowing the Texans 35 points. Russell played awful after the masterful performance last week. McFadden was held in check all game gaining just 44 rushing yards. This loss now puts the Raiders tied for second in the AFC with the Jacksonville Jaguars. With a loss to Tampa Bay the Raiders may lose a first round bye in the playoffs. For Houston this win propelled them into 5 way tie for 6 place in the AFC.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png vs. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/tampabay2.png
Now at week 17 the Oakland Raiders have a lot more to play for than usual. Usually dwelling in the cellar, they have become the surprise team of the year boasting a 10-5 record and currently in position to have a first round bye going into playoffs. The Buccaneers, likewise, are in prime position to solidify a good seed going into the playoffs. This game will likely be a good game, but if Jacksonville loses look for the Raiders to sit key players in order to stay healthy.
Key Match Up :
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/11460.jpg vs. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/1260.jpg
Since moving up in the depth chart early in the season, Chaz Schilens has really performed up to the coaches standards. He is a big, fast receiver with decent hands. He will have his hands full with Rhonde Barber lined up against him though. Rhonde has been a solid corner in the league for years and doesn't show any signs of stopping.
Derrick Burgess on the playoffs :
"It's obviously great for this team and most importantly this whole organization. We haven't been good the last few years and for us to be where we are right now is really a testament to the guys in this locker room."

http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0gkm4sa8d25MD/610x.jpg
Recap :
The Raiders needing a win to stay in the hunt for a first round bye gave the Bucs all they could handle. The Raiders took a big 24 to 10 lead at half and never looked back. Kirk Morrison had another fabulous day and is showing people why he is in the hunt for the MVP. Jamarcus rebounding from his poor showing last week to put up spectacular numbers. Nothing left to say except...Playoffs Here We Come!!

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png vs. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/jacksonville.png
The Raiders look to capitalize on their first playoff birth since the disastrous Super Bowl performance of 2002. Their #1 ranked offense goes up against one of the worst ranked defenses in the league. This game could go a multitude of ways. It could be a high scoring shootout in which the team to have it last wins or it could be a touch defensive battle.
Key Match Up :
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/8492.jpg vs. http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/9646.jpg
The Raiders need to force the Jaguars to become one dimensional. That begins with shutting down Maurice Jones-Drew. MJD is an all-purpose back that can hurt you in many ways. He will be going against a defense led by MVP candidate Kirk Morrison.
Morrison on Jaguars :
"Their a solid team. They wouldn't be here if they weren't. We just gotta go out there and play our game."

Last Second TD sends Jags Home
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/07DubX913ya1n/340x.jpg
Recap :
The game came out as predicted. The team who had the ball last won the game. The Raiders jumped on the Jags early putting up 28 in the first half. An excellent 3rd quarter for the Jags tied the game up at 28. With the 4th quarter about to start both defenses stepped up their game. With just under a minute left, the Jaguars had the Raiders pinned deep in their own territory. On 3rd and 8 from their on 13, Jamarcus Russell rolled right and hit Ashlie Lelie across the middle and the rest is history and he took it 87 yards to the house for the victory.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png vs. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/indianapolis.png
After finishing off the Jaguars in one of their toughest tests so far the Oakland Raiders travel to Indianapolis to take on Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. This could be a rough game for the Raiders as the Colts are licking their chops to go against the Raiders soft pass defense. Defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan, will have to come up with a great gameplan if they hope to stop Peyton and the Colts.
Player to Look For :
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/9616.jpg
Joeseph Addai
Addai is a great runner and can add a change of pace to the pass happy offense of the Colts. The Raiders need to take Addai out of the equation this week.

The Raiders suffered a tough loss on the road eliminating them from the playoffs. Both teams played great games and in the end the Colts offense had just a little more firepower than the Raiders. The Oakland Raiders get :

The Oakland Raiders get :
Leodis McKelvin CB
The Buffalo Bills get :

Justin Fargas makes his 2009 debut against his old team, the Oakland Raiders. Fargas gave Oakland some good years but it was time to step aside. Both teams have brought in some great young talent. The Raiders added two young safeties and a great receiver through the draft. The Bengals may have gotten one of the best value picks in the entire draft picking Robert Ayers, a defensive end from Tennessee. Let the games begin!

Raiders Prevail With Last-Second FG
http://www.sfgate.com/blogs/images/sfgate/raiders/2005/09/25/jano.jpg
Recap :
The Raiders must have really known what they were doing during this year's draft. They needed to stop the pass and that's exactly what they did. The young new secondary held veteran, Carson Palmer, to a pedestrian 158 yards. The theme of the game was bad quarterback play and great defense. Both teams thought this game was heading to overtime tied at 14 until a huge 34 yard gain by Darren McFadden set up the Raiders for the game winning field goal. The Raider secondary looked shaky at times but were always able to come up with the play when they needed it, including a big interception by Nnamdi Asomugha that set up the touchdown pass to Zach Miller. The Raiders start off division play against the Chiefs; The same team that beat them in week 2 last year.

Oakland Raiders vs. Kansas City Chiefs
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png VS. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/kansas_city.png
The Raiders host the Kansas City Chiefs in a division rivalry game in which Chiefs stole a win from the Raiders early in the season last year. Both teams are now filled with youth as the Raiders have 4 rookie starters. The Chiefs addressed a major concern with the drafting of Todd Boeckman out of Ohio State. The spread offense of the Chiefs will be one of the biggest tests all year for this young secondary.
Player to Watch Out For :
Jamarcus Russsell

Jamarcus began to play really well towards the end of last year. Let's see if that play can continue or if he will revert to his old ways.

Chiefs Defense Takes Over Game
http://images.businessweek.com/ss/06/08/fantasyfootball/image/larryjohnson.jpg
Recap
It seems as though Jamarcus Russell has taken a step backwards to start the year. After a mediocre game against the Bengals, he follows it up with an awful one against hated rivals, the Chiefs. Russell threw 3 picks on the night, 2 on consecutive throws. He seems to be inaccurate at the most crucial times.
The game was not as close as the score would suggest. If not for some lucky breaks the Raiders could just as easily lost 33-14. The Raiders secondary showed up some of the time but when they didn't it cost them big. Both rookie safeties missed a lot of key tackles that allowed Chief drives to keep on going. Coach Cable took the loss upon himself saying, "We need to get him [McFadden] the ball more. We can't have one of our key playmakers just standing there pass blocking all game. This one's on me."

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png VS. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/nygiants.png
After a tough loss on the road in Kansas City, the Raiders look for redemption against the always tough New York Giants. The Giants are led by Eli Manning and their always powerful running attack. If the Giants are able to run the ball efficiently on this young Raider defense, the game could be over before it begins. The Raider secondary had some tough breaks against the Chiefs spread offense. They must step up to stop the Giants passing attack in order to win.
Player to Watch Out For :
Brandon Jacobs

Jacobs is a very powerful back that also has the speed to break away from defenders in open field. He is the main catalyst of their offense.

Low Scoring Affair Ends in Raider Win
http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll199/BlaqOptic/Morrison.jpg
Recap
After a tough loss to division rival, Chiefs, the Raiders bounced back strong. Mostly on the defensive side of the ball. The Raiders held the Giants to only 180 yards including only 16 for Brandon Jacobs. This was a huge upgrade from the 33 point debacle in Kansas City. Jamarcus Russell had another mediocre game. He didn't have any turnovers, but he also struggled to move the ball downfield with ease.
Coach Cable did exactly what he said he would by getting Darren McFadden the ball. McFadden had 2 rushing touchdowns and ultimately was the difference in the game. Kirk Morrison had 2 interceptions as he makes his bid for MVP once again. Next week the Raiders play the Ravens, another team that handed them a loss last year.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/oakland.png VS. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/Jeremy7679/Logos/NFL/baltimore.png
The Raiders look to be taking off right were they left off last year after defeating Eli Manning and the New York Giants. The defense is proving once again that they are a force to reckoned with. This week they face the Baltimore Ravens. A team with an outstanding defense which will give Oakland's lowly offense a tough time.
Jamarcus Russell will have to be at the top of his game if they want a chance to win this one. He could get a lot of help from sophomore sensation Darren McFadden. McFadden was the 2nd best running back in the league last year and could help to loosen up the pass rush if they can run effectively.
Player to Watch Out For :
Ray Lewis
http://assets.espn.go.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/964.jpg
Lewis is a fiery middle backer that leads the scary defense of the Ravens. Look for him to make some big plays.

Baltimore Defense Shuts Down Raiders
http://i.cnn.net/si/multimedia/photo_gallery/0706/gallery.least.fun.to.watch/images/ray.lewis(4).jpg
Recap
Well just as expected the Ravens defense played outstanding and shut down the Oakland Raiders in route to a 32-20 victory. This loss drops the Raiders to .500 where; the exact same position they were in last year before rattling off a huge winning streak.
Jamarcus Russell needs to improve his play or we may start to see Andrew Walter sprinkled into the offense. Russell threw 2 interceptions this week, one of them in the red zone that could have been a touchdown if it was on target. Darren McFadden was fairly effective when he got the ball. The only problem is getting him the ball. It seems that for some reason he just doesn't get involved in the offense and that poses a big problem for the Raiders. They had their best games last year when McFadden got more than 20 touches. Right now he is averaging just 11 touches a game. That needs to change at Pittsburgh next week.

well heres and idea when I was reading dynasties at SG, instead of doing a game preview for your own team do like a monday night football game or the GOTW (which should be MNF) so the monday night football game u write the preview for and u predict who wins kindof like on college gameday.
another idea...how about like an ESPN NFL countdown where u just go around talking about stuff around the league it can be opinions, stats, players, coaches almost anything...those are my ideas

Russell Plays Miserable, Raiders Lose
http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2006/writers/phil_taylor/09/27/quarterbacks/t1_bigben.jpg
Recap
Are the Raiders a One-Hit Wonder? That's what the skeptics are starting to think after another week of bad play by the Raiders. They have now lost 2 in a row and have not been close while doing so. They couldn't stop a college team on defense and the offense looks like a blind man trying to find a needle in a haystack. Jamarcus Russell played another bad game throwing 2 interceptions. "Obviously we are going to look at getting him [Walter] some more reps in practice but this is Russell's job until we see otherwise." Those are the words of Coach Cable afterwards.
Darren McFadden just isn't having the season he wanted to this year so far. This may be because of the tough defenses he has been facing so far. Either way he needs to step up and help this team.

The Raiders LOVE Dave Rayner
http://imgs.sfgate.com/c/pictures/2007/12/03/sp_raiders108.jpg
Recap
You may be wondering who in hell Dave Rayner is. Well he is the man that single handily gave the game to the Raiders today. In this 20-17 game any points you can get are important. Well thanks to Dave Rayner the Broncos missed out on 6 points. Rayner, the kicker, missed too Easy, field goals that could have put the Broncos in the lead and eventually won the game. Said Rayner, "I'd like to apologize to my team and the organization. I should never miss those. There are no excuses and the blame for the loss can be put on my shoulders."
Cable keeps his job for one more week after the close win. Russell still isn't playing up to snuff. 2 interceptions is not going to cut it on this team, especially at 3-3. The pattern continues of, if you you get McFadden the ball 20 + times, you win.

Recap
You may have just seen the last of the Tom Cable era. The Raiders have now dropped to 3-4 and have lost 3 out of their last 4 games. Not exactly up to expectations of a team that went deep into the playoffs last year. Things looked bright as on the third play Thomas Howard ripped the ball out of a Charger fullback's hands and McKelvin picked it up and returned it the rest of the way. That would be the last of the good fortune for the Raiders, however as the wouldn't score until deep in the 4th quarter.
Jamarcus Russell played bad. Just flat out bad. Nothing left to say about it. Many critics are wondering what is taking so long for Cable to put in Walter. It is a high possibility that they will see that happen next week against the Chiefs. But somehow they get the feeling that it won't be Cable to put him in. Bill Williamson, ESPN AFC West blogger, says "The way this coached is just terrible. The play calling is bad, they don't play with emotion and they just seem content with going back to their losing ways. I look for Cable to be fired coming up this week..."

Cable OUT! Welcome Steve Spagnolo
http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2008/writers/don_banks/02/04/look.ahead/t1_spagnuolo.jpg
Almeda, CA - After many weeks of uncertainty a decision has finally been made over the job security of Coach Tom Cable. He has been removed from his position and to take his place is former Giants defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnolo. He will take over a team that has been playing horrendous defense as of late and will hope to turn their season around and sneak in the back door to the playoffs.
During his press conference Spagnuolo has hinted at replacing former, number one draft pick, Jamarcus Russell and the quarterback in favor of Andrew Walter. Walter does not possess the physical tools like that of Russell but there is no doubt he could play no worse then Russell as of late. Russell leads the league in interceptions and is not played up to his ability since the playoffs of last year.
Many fans are wondering how this will affect the team to have this happen mid-year. Some are suggesting that this will only make things worse and may cause the recent foundation the franchise has built to crumble. With that said only time will tell for the Raiders and their ageless owner, Al Davis.
