Atlanta-On Friday, Dec. 7, Tech Athletic Director Dan Radakovich announced that U.S. Naval Academy football coach Paul Johnson had accepted the position of the Yellow Jackets’ new head football coach.
Johnson, who becomes the 12th head coach at the Institute, coached six successful years at Navy (45-29) and coached five seasons at Georgia Southern (62-10), winning back-to-back 1-AA National Championships in 1999 and 2000.
Radakovich described Johnson as the “best fit, the best choice and the best man” for the position, after saying he had met with many qualified individuals during the last 10 days.
“President (Wayne) Clough and I are convinced that Johnson will be the steady leader, the principled teacher to our student-athletes and the point-producing conductor that will energize our fans and fill our game days with excitement,” Radakovich said. He compared Tech’s rigorous academic discipline to the Naval Academy’s, and touted Johnson’s achievement as one of four Division 1 coaches who won 50 games in four seasons. “He looks at his talent and maximizes it, using what it takes to win games.”
Johnson, who was named the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year in 2004, thanked President Wayne Clough, Radakovich and his wife and daughter along with “the entire Georgia Tech family” as he stood before the podium.
“It’s truly humbling to be here,” Johnson said. “When I met with the committee, it seemed like a match made in heaven. There’s not another program I would have left the Academy for. From an academic standpoint, the two institutions are very similar. We’re looking for the total package [in student athletes].”
Johnson faced the Atlanta press for roughly 20 minutes, answering questions on what offense will be used, how will he tackle recruiting and what members of Navy’s coaching staff will come with him, as well as will he do what it takes to “sell the program” and energize the fan base.
“I think that’s all part of being a football coach at any major program,” Johnson said. “The way to achieve [excitement for the program] is to win games. If you have a good program, people will come. If you win, people will leave excited.”
Johnson said he will not be involved with Tech’s appearance in the Humanitarian Bowl, nor will he be involved in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl where Navy will face Utah, citing that he was now Tech’s coach and eager to “hit the ground running” on Monday morning, where he listed his top priorities as “[putting] together a top-flight staff, a top recruiting class, and meet with every player one-on-one.
“I want to get in touch with the committed recruits, and sit with the recruiting coordinator and look at the board.” While he touted Tech as an institution with the ability to recruit on the national level, he said the state of Georgia would be the team’s primary recruiting concern.
Johnson was an assistant coach at Navy prior to landing the head coaching position at Georgia Southern, and he was an offensive coordinator at the University of Hawaii from 1987 to 1994. At Navy, his team defeated rival Army six years in a row—the record number of consecutive wins from either team in their meetings.

08/09 Georgia Tech Preview
Georgia Tech’s fan base is newly energized, which is not normal for a team that will be replacing the majority of its starters on both sides of the ball, plus an All-America punter and a solid kicker. But the Yellow Jackets’ faithful have reasons, or at least a reason.
Name’s Paul Johnson.
He’s Tech’s new coach, and he’s got some things going for him, chiefly that he’s not Chan Gailey. The Jackets’ former coach won at least seven games in each of his six seasons, and always went to a bowl game. But it was always a lousy bowl, and Tech had poor habits under Gailey — now the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive coordinator — of springing an upset every year only to lose a game or two they had no business losing, and always losing to Georgia.
Johnson’s presence is no guarantee to change those results. But Tech’s methods are going to change with an offense that may run the ball even more, and in far from conventional fashion in Johnson’s “flexbone spread.”
At Navy, Johnson’s teams routinely ran circles around opponents to lead the nation in rushing in each of the past three seasons. Plus, he won more at Navy (45–29, including 43–19 the past five seasons) than anyone has a right to in this day and age.
After a 7–6 season that was a huge disappointment for a team with a ton of talent back from the squad that lost to Wake Forest in the 2006 ACC Championship Game, any change figured to be welcome in Atlanta.
Quarterbacks
The early favorite is Josh Nesbitt, a sophomore-to-be who showed plenty of running ability while gaining 339 yards on 53 carries as a freshman. That’s one key to running Johnson’s offense. Navy threw only 10 times per game last season, so other keys include holding onto the ball — an issue for Nesbitt last season — and decision-making, which requires less reading of coverage and more reading of blocks. “Josh has kind of not been out there as much (in the spring, when a groin pull slowed him), but I’ve seen progress mentally,” Johnson says. “It’s nice to see him translate it. I think (Nesbitt) throws it better than people think.” Senior Calvin Booker played sparingly in ’07. He may be more polished as a passer, but he’s not the run threat and had an uneven spring running the offense. Nesbitt, Booker and second-year walk-on Bryce Dykes will be joined in the fall by freshmen Tevin Washington, Jaybo Shaw, and perhaps safety/quarterback Cooper Taylor, who played in high school offenses akin to Tech’s.

Josh Nesbitt
Running backs
Sophomore Jonathan Dwyer broke out the sizzle at times last season (82 carries, 436 yards, nine TDs) while backing up Tashard Choice, and at 6'0", 228 pounds with good speed, he seems most likely to be the “A back” behind the quarterback. He can run around, through and past people. Coaches are working to keep him from taking plays off. Junior Jamaal Evans quit the team in the offseason. But redshirt freshman Roddy Jones looks fit for one of the “B back”, or slot back spots. Also, former wide receiver Greg Smith worked the B spot in the spring, and incoming freshmen Embry Peeples and Marcus Wright have the build of B backs, as well as speed to spare.
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/broc68/jonathandwyer2.jpg
Jonathan Dwyer
Receivers
Rarely have opponents looked at Johnson’s receivers and been stricken with fear given his predilection toward the run game. At first glance, there would be little reason to have a different impression now. Tech’s leading receiver from ’07, Smith, moved to B-back in the spring and broke his collarbone. He had 37 receptions last season, when Tech was a terrible passing team. Tight end Colin Peek took his 25 receptions and transferred to Alabama, and senior wideout James Johnson, who was riddled with injuries as a junior but caught 25 passes anyway, opted to leave the team. Still, the new coaching staff will have some talent to work with at the position. Sophomore Demaryius Thomas (35 catches, 558 yards, four touchdowns) may have the skills to be a cut above. Correy Earls flashed at times as a freshman. Maybe Smith will move back to wideout, particularly if Peeples and/or Wright show signs in the summer that they might be able to help at A back. Tight ends? Tech don’t need no stinking tight ends any more.
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/04zwgPjf1V9MJ/340x.jpg
Demaryius Thomas
Offensive linemen
Tech had continuity on the line the past few seasons. That’s mostly gone. Senior left tackle Andrew Gardner, first-team All-ACC last season, is back, but he’s the only returning full-time starter. Junior Dan Voss, who has some experience, should man one guard spot. The other guard spot, center and right tackle are up for grabs. Offseason surgery kept Cord Howard — who has played tackle and guard — out in the spring, and an elbow injury slowed right tackle A.J. Smith.Trey Dunmon, the projected starter at center, left the team after the spring, claiming the new offense didn’t fit his skill set. Senior David Brown, a former defender, may factor at tackle. Perhaps someone from the group of redshirt freshmen Clyde Yandell, Joseph Gilbert or Nick Claytor will emerge.
http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/geot/sports/m-footbl/auto_action/158201.jpeg
Andrew Gardner
Defensive linemen
This is an area of strength. Tackle Vance Walker was first-team All-ACC last season, and fellow tackle Darryl Richard is stout and wise. Senior end Michael Johnson, used chiefly as a pass-rusher in the past off the bench, is a physical freak (6'7"). He and sophomore end Derrick Morgan, a top recruit, look forward to playing wider in new defensive coordinator Dave Wommack’s scheme than under former coordinator Jon Tenuta. They have to replace departed seniors Darrell Robertson and Adamm Oliver, who’ll be in NFL camps. “We’re going to have more chances to work in space, especially in the rush game,” says Morgan, who played in every game as a true freshman. “Hopefully, that will help us make more plays.” There is depth inside and out.
http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/56/565720.jpg
Vance Walker
Linebackers
Only one starter returns, and junior Shane Bowen (who missed spring practice after shoulder surgery) split time with sophomore Anthony Barnes outside last season. Replacing Philip Wheeler and Gary Guyton, who will be on NFL rosters next season, won’t be a breeze. The uber-athletic Barnes may fill one spot, and sophomore Brad Jefferson and redshirt freshman Kyle Jackson had spring moments. It’s hard to say who might be edged out when Bowen returns. This group has serious work to do to live up the standards of Tech’s previous linebacking corps.
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/08ajfQZcnBgew/610x.jpg
Shane Bowen
Defensive backs
An area with more questions than answers, and not much experience. The only starter back is senior corner Jahi Word-Daniels, but sophomore safety Morgan Burnett is the most talented player in the back row. Word-Daniels has demonstrated a knack for being in the right place, but not making enough plays on the ball even when in position. Jerrard Tarrant and Mario Butler figure to battle for the other corner spot. Burnett was fifth on the team in tackles as a freshman despite starting only one game. He also played some corner. Redshirt freshman Willie White or sophomore Dominique Reese seem most likely to land at safety. There is not much experience in the secondary, but there’s plenty of enthusiasm about playing more man-to-man. “I like it a lot,” Burnett says. “We’ll man up, and if you’re not on somebody, you’ll have a chance to (rush the passer) or just kind of drop back, play centerfield and have chances to make plays on the ball.”
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2364/1928786590_4e79fdfdb2.jpg?v=0
Jahi Word-Daniels
Specialists
Sophomore Scott Blair is a good bet to kick or punt, as he may have been most consistent at both in the spring. Blair was very good kicking off last season, but replacing departed kicker Travis Bell, who made 23-of-28 field goals as a senior and ranks high in many school kicking categories, will not be easy. And punter Durant Brooks (45.1-yard average) was an All-American. Mohamed Yahiaoui, who redshirted last season in part because Blair took his kickoff job, and Chandler Anderson are in the mix at both spots, too. Kevin Crosby will also compete at punter.

A Quick Look at the Yellow Jackets
Everybody seems to think that Georgia Tech is going to run the ball 50 times per game, and throw about 10, kind of like Navy did when Paul Johnson coached the Midshipmen instead of the Yellow Jackets. Not so fast. Johnson’s goal is to win, not necessarily lead the nation in rushing as Navy did in each of the past three seasons. The Middies ran so much because the offense Johnson crafted enabled him to compete with more talented opponents largely through its unique “flexbone spread.” Sure, if sophomore quarterback Josh Nesbitt is the runner he appeared to be in limited opportunities last season, and sophomore running back Jonathan Dwyer is all that, it’s a good bet the Jackets will run plenty. One way or another, a team replacing so many starters and whose defense appears largely suspect may have to score plenty of points to win some games. Good thing the schedule includes Jacksonville State and Gardner-Webb, because games at Boston College, Virginia Tech, Clemson and Georgia plus the return of Florida State sure don’t make 2008 look like a walk-through. “If you can get me a championship by running 54 times a game, sign me up,” Johnson says. “Or if you can get me a championship by passing 54 times, sign me up for that.”

FCS Southeast at Georgia Tech
Triple Option,Unlimited Threats
Atlanta- Going into this game against cupcake FCS Southwest, there was some doubts around Atlanta that the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets weren't going to be able to adapt to the new flexbone attack new coach Paul Johnson was implementing. The questions, at least some of them were answered after this game. The Jackets scored 63 points in the first half alone until retiring their starters in the second half. After the game Coach Johnson spoke about the effectiveness of the flexbone and said "You know, i knew this would work, ya'll were the one's that were so pessimistic, i beleive we can carry this success forward against the Eagles next week," Asked about his potent running game Johnson said this,"You know we have so many threats after this game, I knew Jonny(Dwyer) and Josh(Nesbitt) were great from the start but today the Evans boys showed me they were good to, next week we'll just have a heck of a lotta running backs rotating in." The Triple Option was not the only the great thing today. The Tech D was stifling holding the Southwest offense to -4 rushing yards. They also may have unlocked to new playmakers to go along with their already potent defensive playmakers-CB Brandon Leisle had 2 picks and 8 tackles on the day and was motoring around the field. Leisle was the reason that last years frosh standout, Morgan Burnett, was redshirted this season and he has shown why. It's scary to believe he is only a true freshman and will probably be redshirted next season. The other absolutely scary defensive playmaker on the day was sophmore Mario Butler, who left smiling after racking up 7 tackles, a sack and a pick 6. After the game Coach Johnson told the press that while Butler was amzing for them, he will stay has the nickel back because Coach Johnson is pleased with his starting corners, Jahi Word-Daniels and Martin Frierson(who had an INT as well). This game but a heck of a lot of hope in the Georgia Tech fanbase and hopefully they can bring the momentum over to Boston and crush the Eagles.

Georgia Tech Recruiting Report
Tech signs Lawrence!!
Atlanta-Today in front of a packed house in his hometown of Northport, Alabama Matthew Lawrence had a tough decision. Georgia Tech or Florida, Lawrence asked himself 4 hours before the big decision. Florida had coasted to an easy 59-10 win over Hawai'i and Lawrence was watching the pregame of the Georgia Tech and FCS Southwest game. "The so called experts said they'd be surprised if Tech won by 10 today,ha, they were right kinda because we won by 87 didn't we?" A smiling Lawrence proclaimed. The 66th ranked DE, Lawrence is compared with Julius Peppers for his tenacity and also because of his ability to get sacks. "I dunno I guess I was born to hit people." Lawrence said. Well Tech fans and players are happy he will be on their side for the next 5 years,"I guess I have that look don't I". Well opposing teams will get to know that look a lot only, they will be seeing Lawrence staring down at them while they are lieing on the turf.

Hang 'em out to Dwyer
Chestnut Hill,MA- You know that old cliche "a smashmouth football game" right? Well if there was any opposite off it then that's what today's game was. Jonathan Dwyer rushe dfor 246 yards and 2 big TDs while Jamaal Evans added two more to the Jackets cause as they lay a licking to the Boston College Eagles. The game started off with a touchdown drive for the Jackets, not surprising to most considering their performance last week, culminating with a Tyler Evans run from 18 yards out. The Jackets were on their way to another easy win, right? Not happening. Mr. Big play, Rich Gunnell introduced himself to the college football world by taking the ensuing kickoff back for a TD-he would also add a 67 yarder later in the game. At that point Jackets coach Paul Johnson said that "we were playin' like a barrel of water filled with Hogs, we were all over the place". The Jackets would dominate the 3rd quarter and even through they lost an onside kick with 1:30 left in the game, Johnson said his team wasn't scared, "We were never scared, we know we are the best in the nation and I think Jonny and the rest of the offense showed that, as for the defense, oh boy do I feel bad for them." Whether Johnson works his boys hard in practice during the week is up to him but Jackets fans have to beleive that their offense can score with the best of them,"We got a great offense, i ain't too worried 'bout our D"said one Tech fan coming out of Alumni Stadium. Whether the Jackets win all their games or not, this team is guarranteed to be one of the funnest teams to watch in the nation.

Mississippi State at Georgia Tech
No Nesbitt, No Problem
Atlanta,GA- You would think that the key to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vaunted Triple option attack is their sophmore QB Josh Nesbitt right? Not the case, and the Jackets showed why today. Nesbitt was injured on the first play of the game after an electrifing sack by State DE Tim Bailey and he was judged as 'Out for the Game'. Enter Calvin Booker. The 6'4 Senior had seen only one play of experience this season and on that play he returned a fumble 55 yards for a touchdown so Paul Johnson knew this kid could play. First play after a missed State 4th down conversion. Booker runs the option right and tosses it to Tyler Evans who went 96 Yards for the longest rushing touchdown in NCAA history. The Jackets wouldn't look back and would add 45 more points to their cause.
Even if the Jackets didn't score another point in the game, they still would have won thanks to their stifling defense which held a fiery SEC team scoreless, their second such effort of the season. Freshman Brandon Leslie continued his All American caliber play with 8 more tackles but the best player on defense today was Redshirt freshman DE Jason Peters who had a sack and a late interception. This Georgia Tech team has weapons all around and there are even whispers around Atlanta that Tech could go unbeaten. That is a long way away and Coach Johnson even used the long winded cliche "we are taking it every game at a time". Well Coach with backups like Calvin Booker who needs starters? http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1064/1348809738_de1e98765f.jpg?v=0

Tony Kornheiser:Hello boys and girls and welcome to another edition of Oddsmakers. Now for the first one, let's toss it up to Anthony Joseph LeBron James Reali.
Tony Reali:Wow... Tone. Alright first one. Chances Georgia Tech goes unbeaten this season?
Tony Kornheiser:Alright, to do this they would need to beat Georgia in Georgia. Not gonna happen. I like Paul Johnson but there is on way his team can win Between the Hedges. Do I think they will win the ACC? Sure. 0%, there is no way they beat Georgia.
Michael Wilbon:Come on Tone, zero! I'm going 1 percent and here's why. Like Tony said they WILL win the ACC but Georgia is looking like the best team in the nation and I don't think that Tech has a chance in Athens. I said one percent because come on, there is always a chance the Georgia bus could get stuck in traffic.
Tony Reali:Alright next one... Chances the Triple Option produces 3 1,000 yard rushers.
Michael Wilbon:Well, I watched the game on Saturday and I saw the 3rd stringer take it 96 yards against a supposedly tough SEC D. I think this can happen. They barely throw the ball so I'm going 70%
Tony Kornheiser:I'm going with Mike again. If Tyler Evans, the 3rd stringer, already has close to 300 yards I think they will do it. No doubt Dwyer and Jamaal Evans will hit it but the biggest threat to this is how much playing time Tyler Evans gets, i'm going 50% precent.
Tony Reali:Alright, last one. Chances USC gets to the National Title game.
Michael Wilbon:They lost to Ohio State right? There is no way any team in the Big 12 or SEC goes unbeaten and Georgia Tech will lose to Georiga so I think that as long as USC doesn't lose again that they will play either Penn State,Wisconcin or Ohio State.86%
Tony Kornheiser:86% what is this? i'm going to go with 30%. USC has a history of losing to teams they have no business losing to and I think they lose to someone like Washington State or something.
Tony Reali:Washington State? Come on Tone. For that stupid statement I declare Wilbon the winner.
Tony Kornheiser:Aww come on.... Oddsmakers is now 100% over. Stay tuned for Headlines.

Duke at Georgia Tech
Booking the Win
Atlanta,GA- Duke is back. Or are they still arriving? Duke showed that it isn't just a basketball school anymore and even through Georgia Tech beat them, the Dukies showed they are very close to becoming true ACC contenders. This game probably would have been a blowout if not for another Josh Nesbitt injury. As against Mississippi State, backup QB Calvin Booker showed up and threw for 285 yards and 2 TDs in Techs win. The most important thing that Tech gained from this game wasn't the win but the knowledge that if there rushing game isn't working they could pass the football. The Triple Option only rushed for 98 yards, in part because of Booker's inability on the ground and also because of the success through the air, either way Tech Coach Paul Johnson says that "we can get it done how ever you like, if you have a good offense out D will shut you down, if your D is smashmouth then we will run all over you, it's simple". Even through Coach Johnson was so 'cocky' after the game he had reason to be. Tech was now top of the ACC. "Sure it feels good, but we ain't stopping 'till we get to the National Championship"said Johnson. While that is a LONG way away, Johnson can take pride in knowing that his team has looked unstoppable through it's first 5 games.

FCS West at Georgia Tech
Another Game,Another Masterpiece
Atlanta- I guess Paul Johnson isn't regretting scheduling two FCS teams. in their second game of the season against an FCS opponent, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets picked up where they left off and now have scored a combined 164 points against their weaker FCS opponents. The defense chipped in with two TDs and 7 INTS but the most important sign was on offense. Josh Nesbitt threw for 150 yards and had 3 TDS which gave Johnson even more faith in him,"I know ya'll were tearing him up after Calvin's performance in those two games, but Josh is always gonna be our starter, it just helps that we have a great backup in Calvin". Johnson's realience in his defense also payed off as they pitched their 3rd shutout of the season. The D also showed Johnson's wisdom because new Nickelback, Martin Frierson had 3 picks and the guy that replaced him as starter,Dominique Reese, had his second touchdown in as many games. Going into this weeks showdown against Clemson, Johnson should have plenty of faith in both his units.

Virginia at #6 Georgia Tech
Brandon Leslie Strikes Again!
Atlanta,GA- Have YOU heard of Brandon Leslie. Let's backtrack to a week ago, the gangly 195 pound kid from Tennessee was so very quietly the best freshman in the nation. At the very least he was a top 5 best frosh candidate. After his performance against Virginia he has booked his place as numero uno. Leslie had 9 tackles during the game, but that wasn't the story, he knocked out 4, yes 4, players from the game and because of his ferioucios hits he knocked Cedric Peerman out for the rest of his senior year. But we'll talk more about Leslie later. Coming into this game Coach Johnson had named Calvin Booker the starter after former incumbent Jish Nesbitt's lack of a performance in last week's win over Clemson. Booker proved Johnson was correct in his decisions by throwing for 300 yards and 2 touchdowns, both to Jamaal Evans. He also proved that Tech could win without running their opponents to death and the proof is 80 yards total rushing, Tech's lowest total by far of the season.
The Tech defense, led by my man B-Les attacked Peter Lalich from the opening kick and it resulted in 3 picks, including a nation leading 7th for exceptional junior nickelback Martin Frierson. In a game that is supposed to be about either outstanding offense or outstanding defense, Tech showed they had both today.

Defense wins Championships, at least against Florida State
Georgia Tech's defense performed masterfully against a good FSU attack
Atlanta,GA-Have YOU heard of Bryce Dykes? If not I wouldn't be surprised. The former walk on has only had mop up duties so far this season, both against Tech's two FCS opponents. Now he is a rockstar in Atlanta. Dykes came in at the start of the third quarter to replace former starter Josh Nesbitt, who was how should I say this, playing like poop. Nesbitt had replaced Calvin Booker who had been injured on the third play from scrimmage. A couple weeks ago if I told you Bryce Dykes would start next week against North Carolina you would have called me crazy but alas, that is exactly what is going to happen,"Bryce easily won the game for us today so I think it is only fair if we allow him to start... I wish we could have had 1 guy starting for the entire season but I guess you have to do what you have to do to get a win." Speaking of getting a win, the defense should be credited for this victory. They held the dynamic 20th ranked FSU offense to 7 points in the first half and they picked of Drew Weathorford y6 times, including 3 by star corner Jahi Word-Daniels. They also got to Weatherford before he got time to throw and had a total of 10 sacks on the FSU QB, including 8 combined from Vance Walker(3),Steven Sylvester(3) and star DE Jason Peters(2). This D proved the well worn cliche 'defense wins championships' is bang on and while they may not advance to the BCS title game they will certainly work their asses off to try, all while having their white knight, Bryce Dykes, leading them.

#3 Georgia Tech at North Carolina
Heeling the perfect season
Chapel Hill,NC-
Game Summary
1st Quarter
They won the toss and elected to receive. TJ Yates threw the ball methodically down the field but at my 33 yard line, Jahi Word-Daniels racked in his 8th pick of the year. Bryce Dykes drove us down the field and opened the scoring with a 12 yard touchdown pass to Correy Earls. On the next drive, Brandon Leslie hurt himself and is out for 4 Weeks with a strained pectoral. This effected our morale and Yates finished of the drive with a 8 yard pass to Brandon Tte. I got the ball back and on the first play I ran a Triple option reverse which Jamaal Evans took 58 yards to the house. Due to the snowy conditions I missed the extra point and UNC took over. On the last play of the quarter Yates was picked by Leslie’s backup Deron Jasper.
Score
Georgia Tech 13
North Carolina 7
2nd Quarter
On the second play of the quarter, Evans was tossed the ball by Dykes and took it in for an 8 yard score. North Carolina drove it down the field and my secondary dropped about 4 picks. I stopped them but Terrance Brown made an impossible 53 yarder in the snow. I punted and on the first play of the drive Yates threw a strike to RB Jamal Womble who took it 59 yards to the house. I punted AGAIN and Yates drove downfield because my secondary seemed unable to catch anything he threw right at them, maybe that’s why they aren’t recievers. UNC tried to get one last play of but they called a timeout and Brown kicked a 23 yarder to tie us up.
Score
Georgia Tech 20
North Carolina 20
3rd Quarter
I received but I had another 3 and out so I punted. They get the ball and my secondary again, keeps on dropping sure picks, they convert on 4th down and 1 and Yates throws a 2 yard pass to Zac Pianolto to get the Heels the lead. Dykes is horrible so I put Josh Nesbitt in, I don’t care he can’t throw for sh*t, he’s in to run the option effectively. Sure enough Josh pitches it to Jamaal Evans again who takes it in from 38 yards out. The quarter end with UNC having the ball at my 46.
Score
Georgia Tech 27
North Carolina 27
4th Quarter
Michael Johnson stops Ryan Houston on 3rd and 1 but Brown gets another miracle FG, this time from 50 yards out. I went for it on 4th and 12 but Nesbitt threw way over Brad Sellers’ head. First play of their drive my secondary finally does something and Jerrard Tarrant takes his pick into their half, now all I have to do is make sure Nesbitt doesn’t screw up. He does but Iain Vance gets a 35 yarder to tie the game up. Next UNC possesion on the 3rd play Yates throws his 2nd TD of the game to Brandon Tate from 50 yard out. Guess what happens on my last drive… Nesbitt throws a pick, game over. UNC wins. Tech loses it’s first game of the season. But wait… I had all my timeouts left and I hold them to a three and out. I have the ball at my 20 with 18 ticks left on the clock. First play, you guessed it pick 6 by Deunta Williams, now the game is over.

Georgia Tech Recruiting Report
Allen a Jacket!!
Atlanta,GA-And Paul Johnson takes another recruit from under the nose of an SEC school, this time their state rival. Even through Tech lost it's first game of the season a couple of weeks ago, Isacc Allen has decided he wants to be in Georgia Tech colors. The 6'3 corner from Fayetteville, Tennessee chose Tech over schools like Georgia,Ole Miss and even his home state school of Tennessee. "Tech is where it's at," he said at the introductinary press conference, "I'm looking forward to winning a few ACC titles and maybe a national championship." Allen is expected to redshirt next season and start in 2011 after being the nickelback and dimebacks in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

The Hurricane subsided
Atlanta,GA-
Game Summary
1st Quarter
They won the toss and elected to recieve the ball. Time to quench the Hurricane winds! One their first drive they had a three and out, time for Bryce Dykes to go to work. Calvin Booker started the game for some odd reason and he threw a pick to Colin McCarthy. Third play of their drive Robert Mavre throws a bullet which Sam Shields picks out of the air for a 19 yard TD. Dykes runs the option methodically down the field and the drive is capped by Jonathan Dwyer taking it in from 22 yards out. Miami has a three and out and my next drive I'm stopped but in range for Iain Vance to kick a 43 yard FG. The quarter end and they are in our side of half.

After a few Graig Cooper runs Marve tosses one to Dedrick Epps who evades his tacklers and runs in for a 35 yard TD. After a couple three and outs by both teams, Tech finally scores as Jamaal Evans breaks a 55 yard TD run. Next Miami possesion, Marve's first pass is picked by Jahi Word-Daniels and taken to the house. First play of the Canes next drive Marve throws a short dumpoff pass to Kayne Farquharsen who evades 3 Jackets and scores a 3 yard TD. After a plethro of dropped passes on my next possesion Dykes finds Evans who takes it 37 yards to the house. The quarter ends like that.

I get the ball to start the half but Dykes' first throw is taken for a pick six by Bruce Johnson. Next Tech drive after that Dykes throws another pick and now the Canes have the ball and good field position. They go three and out and then so do I. Their possesion, my defensive linemen, Jason Peters, picks Marve off and on the ensueing possesion Jamaal Evans scores another 50+ TD, this time from 59 yards out. The quarter ends and they have the ball at my 20 or so.

My boys in the secondary step up and Jake Wieclaw misses a FG. The ensueing possesion I can only get a 51 yard Iain Vance field goal to make the game a 13 point difference. On there next possesion Marve drives them down the field and finishes it off by taking it in for a 3 yard rushing TD. Next Tech drive Jonathan Dwyer breaks a few tackles and takes it in from 49 yards out,and they make the 2 point conversion to boot. Jerrard Tarrant's pick seals the Tech win. Tech decided to keep playing and Iain Vance hit a 42 yarder to add a little more salt in the wound.

Georgia Tech Recruiting Report
Jackets add three more!!
Atlanta,GA-"Today begins a new era for Georgia Tech football" Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson proclaimed at a surprise press conference that announced the signings of three more recruits. T Brian Weddle, DT Michael Moyer and HB Andre White have all announced their commitment to Georgia Tech yesterday.
Weddle is a 6'5 tackle from Lakeland,Florida who Rivals.com rated the number 17 tackle prospect in the nation. His strengths include awareness and strength and he told our reporters that he is very happy to be a Jacket, "I just hope I can help this program and win a National Championship."Weddle said.
http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/highschool/highschool_blog/26353080.jpg
White is a 6'1 runningback from Apopka,Florida who has been compared to current Tech runner Jamaal Evans. He is described as a speed back and may be asked to help out right away next season.
http://www.wabash.edu/images2/photo_album/1307/main_mintor%20stopped1.jpg
Michael Moyer is the 30th ranked DT in the nation and is from Haleyville,Alabama. He is described as a run stopper and will be a key cog in Tech's 'Big Uglies' in a few years.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/img/09-06/0901line1.jpg
Overall, Tech gained three players that will be key players in their senior years but as of now Johnson hasn't aquired a player who is a sure NFLer/ starter.

Athens,GA-
Game Summary
1st Quarter
It was a clear night Between the Hedges, just right to kick some Dawg tail! I won the toss so it's time for my boy Bryce Dykes to win a game for us. Second play of the drive they blitzed the hell out of us and Dykes' throw ended up in CJ Byrd's hands from Georgia's first pick of the night. First play of UGAs possesion, Matt Stafford hooks up with Massaqoui and he takes Georgia to our 3 yard line. Our D comes through but Blair Walsh gives UGA the lead with a 23 yard FG. Next drive I do nothing and I fail to convert on the 4th and 3 conversion so Georgia has the ball again. Next Georgia drive in what will prove to be the sickest play of the college football season, this writer wishes he knew how to transfer videos from his XBOX to Sportsgamer. Matt Stafford was picked by Osahon Tongo who due to his lack of speed pitched the ball to Dominique Reese who took it 70 yards for the major.AMAZING!!! Georgia punted on their ensueing possesion and I'm getting ready to punt to start the second quarter off.
Score

2nd Quarter
Georgia's first possesion of the quarter ends with another pick, this time by Steven Sylvester, who takes it all the way to UGAs 20. Third play of Tech's drive and Quincy Kelly takes it in from 1 yard out. My monsters on D stop Knowshon Moreno on a 4th down try so Tech takes over with relatively good field possesion. Tech keeps on trucking, literally,as Kelly scores another 1 yard TD. Stafford leads another dud drive and is picked again, this time by Reese. Wouldn't you guess through, first play of Tech's drive Dykes fumbles at his own 2 yard line,YIKES! After stuffing Moreno once Tech's D folds and Moreno goes in for a 3 yard rushing major. Tech would kneel and go into the half as such.

3rd Quarter
Georgia will get the ball to start the half. Moreno cracks a big run that puts them in FG range and Walsh culminates their drive with a 45 yarder. Next Tech drive,Dykes is visually shaken and fumbles again.Hmm maybe Coach Johnson should put in Nesbitt... Georgia settled to a three and out but on the punt they fake it and get the first down. Thye fake a punt again, but this time I'm ready and I stop them. Nesbitt, who replaces Dykes, runs for a big gain before pitching it to Jonathan Dwyer who takes it 43 yards to paydirt. Just one more quarter I have to hold them off.

4th Quarter
Georgia would be fine for a bit, that is until Stafford threw the ball. The Georgia QB threw his 4th INT of the game and second to Osahon Tongo and may have put the game away for the Jackets. But what really puts this game away is Jonathan Dwyer's 67 yard TD run which probably seals this game. At Tech's goal line Stafford would continue his miserable day as Martin Frierson picked him off and took it 92 yards to the Promised Land. The game would stay like that and after the game, Coach Johnson proclaimed Josh Nesbitt as the starting QB in the ACC Championship Game.

2nd Quarter
I started with the ball in this quarter and even through it was only the second quarter, if I didn't score here I'd probably lose this football game. After nearly losing a fumble, Nesbitt came through and pitched a 25 yard TD to usual reciever Andrew Smith. Not to be outdone, Clemson came right back with a strong drive and Cullen Harper tossed his 3rd TD of the game, this one a 10 yarder to CJ Spiller. Next Tech possesion, they kept on rolling as Jamaal Evans took a Nesbitt toss 8 yards to paydirt. Cullen Harper would not be outdone however and led a quick drive that produced a 53 yard Rob Jackson FG that ended the half.

I got the ball to start the half but as usual Nesbitt messed up, this time fumbling the ball near midfield. I finally stopped them and they settled for a 42 yarder via Rob Jackson. Next drive, guess what happens...Nesbitt fumbles again and Crezdon Butler takes it in for a scoop and score. Jamaal Evans would keep it close however and would take it in from 66 yards out. The Jackets would get it back and just when it looked like it was going well Nesbitt threw a pick to Byron Maxwell who took it all 66 yards for a score. Next Tech drive Jamaal Evans continues his magistary with his 3rd TD,this one from 52 yards away.

The game would end after Calvin Booker was picked off, thus sealing Clemson's ACC Championship.

Game Summary
1st Quarter
Well,Tech didn't have far to travel as the Chick Fil A bowl is located in Atlanta, which also happens to be the home of Georgia Tech.Basically,I was playing in front of a home crowd. I get the ball first and I want to put this away early. I did just that as Jonathan Dwyer took a Nesbitt pitch 49 yards for the major. Vols QB Jonathan Crompton was in the middle of disecting my secondary when suddenly he was picked off,by DE Jason Peters no less, who I guess decided to drop back in coverage. After intercepting me on a fake punt pass,Tennessee would get the ball back but, on the first play of the drive,Crompton would throw the ball into the outstretched arms of Steven Sylvester who took it 55 yards for a pick 6.The quarter would end with Tech have possesion around midfield.

After a Vols pick, and then a subsiquent three and out, Tech had great field position which led to a 16 yard strike from Nesbitt to Correy Earls. Crompton finally got his act together but they could only settle for a 30 yard FG by Daniel Lincoln as time expired.

[i] In another sleeper of a quarter,Iain Vance would add another FG,this time from 18 yards out. The Vols would get on the touchdown board on the next possesion when Josh Briscoe took a Crompton pass, broke a few tackles and went 42 yards to the house.(They would add a 2 PT Conversion) After recovering the onside kick, the Vols would get the ball back but Crompton threw a pick to Osahon Tongo who fumbled after being hit by the QB. One play later,Crompton threw a 5 yard TD to Lucas Taylor to make this game interesting.(2 PT no good). Tech would add a coupe kneel downs to make this game official.

Miami,FL-
In maybe the biggest underdog story of the year,20.5 point favorites Oklahoma were beat by the Wisconsin Badgers 48-35 in Miami last night. The spread was the second largest in the history of championship game betting and thanks to the surprising outcome Las Vegas estimates they lost about 50 million over this game. Thanks to a great performance by Badgers QB Allen Evridge, who threw for 308 yards and 3 touchdowns, and an amazing night from defensive cornerstone DeAndre Levy, the Badgers got it done. Not to say Oklahoma played bad-the game was back and forth until late in the forth quarter-but the Badgers were just better on this night. Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford (4 TDs)had almost zero help and Doak Walker award winner DeMarco Murray was almost none existent.
This victory also proved to the nation that the Big 10 is not the cupcake conference every says it is and it also ensured that no team would finish the season unbeaten this year.

Tech gains two!
Atlanta,GA-Andrew Sweat always regretted going to Ohio State. For the only year he was there in Columbus,Sweat consitently dreamed of going home to Atlanta and playing for Georgia Tech. Now the redshirt freshman(80 rating) can, "I'm so excited,I don't care that I have to sit out a year,I'm very excited to start my career as a a Jacket."While the former 5 star Rivals.com prospect was the center of attention in Atlanta,Paul Johnson's team also gained another player,Free Safety and Atlanta native Stefoin Francois who transfered from LSU(79 rating). While Johnson can't use these talented players for another year he told the AJC that he was "excited to have wo such talented players on the team" Even through they may not make an impact this year, these two players have the looks of future All-Americans,and luckily, they will be doing it in Tech colors.

Well, the number 32 recruiting class doesn't look so spectacular from this side of the room. The best player in the recuriting class,Tim Kramer, looks to be an average-at best-fill in for better players at that position and the other four star recruit,Brian Weddle, will be thrown into the fire right away. Welcome to Atlanta is right. The best player that the Jackets recruted may be HB Andre White who reminds scouts of Reggie Bush due to his quickness and accelaration. Look out for him in a couple years because he will most liely reshirt this season.
Most,if not all(excluding the offensive linemen),will redshirt this season so it is hard to tell whether or not this is a good recruiting class and we may just have to wait and see.

09/10 Georgia Tech Preview
Quarterbacks
This year's starter will be Jaybo Shaw,a redshirt freshman from Atlanta with 87 speed. Shaw won the biggest battle of camp, which was him versus Josh Nesbitt but don't think we will not see Nesbitt.Coach Paul Johnson has said that he plans to run a two QB scheme that will rotate both of his scrambling quarterbacks in.Johnson also said that he will use pocket passer Bryce Dykes primarily on passing downs since he has the best arm on the team.Tech is redshirting their lone quarterback recruit,Ryan Burton.
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0aac4pa6ZA9qL/340x.jpg
Josh Nesbitt
Running backs
Arguably the biggest surprise of camp was Marcus Wright a 5'8 177 pounder who single handed won away the starting running back spot from Jonathan Dwyer. While Wright will be the feature back,Dwyer will play "B back" which is the same role Jamaal Evans played last year.Tyler Evans who rushed for over 300 yards in his apperances last year as the third stringer will occupy the same role but will get increased touches. Embry Peeples and Roddy Jones fought for the fullback spot in camp and Jones came out the winner,he could have a big year as well.
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa250/broc68/jonathandwyer2.jpg
Jonathan Dwyer
Receivers
Last years Special Teams MVPs Tyler Davis and James Johnson are gone but Tech still kept their core of recievers. Even through Shaw won't throw alot,he has some good targets in kick returner/reciever Greg Smith and returning starter Correy Earls. This unit is probably worthless because even when Shaw does throw he will probably use his running backs more then his recievers.
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/04zwgPjf1V9MJ/340x.jpg
Demaryius Thomas
Offensive linemen
Easily the weakest unit on the team,Tech starts two freshman,Brian Weddle and TJ Barnes, one of whom (Weddle) didn't even start in high school. Tech does have returning starters Dan Voss,Trey Dunmon and Omeregie Uzzi but all of them except Voss are a little above OK.Voss is easily the leader of this unit but don't expect as good of running numbers as last year's thanks to this terrible unit.
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/08HH5YIdxA95U/340x.jpg
Dan Voss(77)
Defensive linemen
Last year this was an area of sterength, this year it's not.The only returning starter is stud DE Jason Peters(9 sacks) who is only a sophmore and is described as quiet in the locker room, which isn't leader material. The role of leader may fall on either Robert Hall who replaces Michael Johnson at RE or Logan Walls who replaces the Terrible Three(Vance Walker,Darryl Richard,Elris Anyaibe) all of whom graduated. At the other DT spot, true freshman Michael Moyer beat Ben Anderson for the spot but expect him to be bad this year as he trys to get used to the college game.
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0aaz0h88db6PX/610x.jpg
Jason Peters
Linebackers
After redshirting a wealth of freshman last year,Tech has adequete replacements for starters Travis Chambers (graduation) and Steven Sylvester (Redshirted). Starting at Chambers' spot is redshirt frosh Malcolm Munroe who is a future NFLer. The best thing that happened to Tech through is that Osahon Tongo decided to stay at school. The Nigerian native(6 picks) was terrific last year and beat out returning star Matt Braman in camp to keep his spot.Anthony Barnes and BJ Machen will rotate around at ROLB.

Steven Sylvester
Defensive backs
An extremely decimated area of the team, the secondary returns one starter (Dominique Reese).Starting at Jahi Word-Daniels' spot is last years dimeback Mario Butler who you may remember for his incredible performance in last year's first game. Both safety positions have new starters,Cooper Taylor at Free and Morgan Burnett at Strong. Last years starters,Brandon Leslie and Jerrard Tarrant were both beaten out of their respective positions in camp.
http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0gbV5ZJg6b5k5/610x.jpg
Dominique Reese
Specialists
Both Iain Vance and Mohamed Yahiaoui are shoo ins at their respective postions for All America bids.

#18 Georgia Tech at #21 Notre Dame
This is a big game for both programs. For Georgia Tech,it is big because it will show the nation whether or not having a young lineup will stop them. For the Irish,a convincing win in this football game will prove to people that Notre Dame is once again a National Championship contender.

#18 Georgia Tech at #21 Notre Dame
No defense, no win
South Bend,IN-
Game Summary
1st Quarter
It was 74 degrees in South Bend and it was prime weather to start the season off on a high note. They won the toss and chose to recieve so I start on defense. After a nice swat by Dominique Reese, Notre Dame scored the first points of the game, a field goal by Brandon Walker. It was time for Jaybo Shaw to show what he is made of. Well, we know Jonathan Dwyer isn't made of a lot as he fumbled on Tech's first play which Notre Dame recovered. The turnover would end up costing Tech as Jimmy Clausen would loft a seven yard pass straight into the hands of George West for six. On the ensueing kickoff Dwyer would redeem himself as he took the kickoff 88 yards for the major. Tech's D would redeem themselves as Mario Butler picked Clausen off and took it 42 yards to the crib. Only 27 seconds later Clausen threw another pick, this one to Cooper Taylor who took it 27 yards for the major. The quarter would end with Notre Dame at Tech's 22 yard line.
Score
Georgia Tech 21
Notre Dame 10
2nd Quarter
The Irish would get as close as my six yard line but because of good D had to settle for a 25 yard Walker FG. After a three and out by Tech, Dame got the ball back but again settled for a 28 yard FG from Walker. Again I had a three and out and again the Irish settled for a Walker FG,this one from 41 yards away.
Score
Georgia Tech 21
Notre Dame 19
3rd Quarter
I got the ball to start the half since they started with it. My offense finally turned it on and after a couple big runs from Jonathan Dwyer and Marcus Wright Roddy Jones cashed in from two yards away. The Irish's running attack had been terrorizing me all day and it didn't change as Armando Allen took it 54 yards to the house. The next Tech drive was pretty good until Shaw fumbled. The fumble was picked up by 315 pound Morrice Richardson who took it to the house.(2 PT Convertion good,Clausen to Robby Parris). On the next Tech drive Dwyer provided more magic as he took a pitch 54 yards to the spot. This game was becoming very topsy-turvy!
Score
Georgia Tech 35
Notre Dame 34
4th Quarter
On the first play of the quarter Clausen dumped one off the Parris who broke some tackles and took it 32 yards for the major.(2PT NO GOOD) Shaw was picked but Notre Dame was stopped again and had to settle for a 45 yard Walker FG. I don't trust my D so I went for it on 4th down and I was rewarded by Marcus Wright who took the pitch 54 yards for a TD.(2PT NO GOOD) Notre Dame sealed it on the next drive after James Aldrige took a pitch 65 yards to the house. Shaw was picked on the next drive and my D made a stop so Walker kicked a 36 yard FG. Shaw was picked off again, this time by Raeshon McNeil who took it 43 yards to the house. I added a last second Jonathan Dwyer TD but the damage was done.
Final Score
#21 Notre Dame 60
#18 Georgia Tech 49
Final Analysis
[i]It looked like we had the game won but our D blew it. The first quarter was promising with two defensive TDs but it was bad after that. Jaybo Shaw had three picks, we'll start Josh Nesbitt next week. I think that to improve our D we need to stop the run. Our running game was great and Jonny picked up right where he left off.

#25 Georgia Tech at #2 Florida
This is a game that Coach Johnson put on the schdule to increase their rep so they could get into the SEC.
It now looks to be a curse.
Florida is number two for a reason and is still good even through they lost Tim Tebow to the NFL Draft. The main reason for that is their monstrous defense and shifty running back,Chris Rainey.
Tech's defense collapsed last week, particularly against the run game and it doesn't look any easier this week.
Expect Tech to lose but remember that their offense, led by Jonathan Dwyer and new starting quarterback Josh Nesbitt, is potent and will still rank in the top five in points scored every year.

Game Summary
1st Quarter
After last week's demolisment at the hands of the Notre Dame it didn't get easier this week where the Techians would head into the volatile Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. They won the toss so I kicked off into the 82 degree weather. After a couple three and outs by both teams Riley Cooper made the catch of the year. He jumped up seemingly out of bounds, snagged it in front of safety Deron Jasper and took it to the house.]7-0 Tech responded on the back of their run game but, it was Josh Nesbitt's 13 yard pass to Greg Smith that scored the points.7-7 The quarter would end after Florida missed a 52 yard field goal.

2nd Quarter
After a Tech punt, Newton made his second big play of the day as he lobbed a bullet that Justin Williams picked out of the air for a 69 yard TD.14-7 The next Tech drive Nesbitt drove all the way to Gators 30 yard line but, instead of taking the field goal Nesbitt went for it on 4th down and hit a very wide open Marcus Wright for the 30 yard TD pass.14-14 On Florida's next drive Newton was picked by freshman corner Isaac Allen who gave me good field position. I was faced with another 4th down and I converted it, this time with a Roddy Jones run. It wasn't ment to be as Nesbitt fumbled right into a scrum of Gators' players. Florida would do nothing on offense and would punt. I would just kneel to end the half.

3rd Quarter
I got the ball to start the half since they started with it. I would do nothing and would have a three and out. Florida would have a nice drive that culimated with a 7 yard pass from Newton to Deonte Thompson.21-14 It was time for my offense to turn it on. But again, I'd do nothing and punt but they would do the same so I got the ball back. Nesbitt would lead a long drive but in the end we had to settle for a 34 yard Iain Vance FG.21-17

4th Quarter
After receiving the kickoff to start the quarter, the Newton-led Gators drove down the field relatively easily which culminated with a 21 yard TD pass from Newton to Carl Moore.28-17 On my next drive I drove it easily down the field and Vance hit a 40 yarder.28-20 After all, I have faith in my D today. Well I would have faith, if it got on the field. The ensueing kickoff was taken 103 yards to the house by Thompson for the longest return in history.[b]35-20 On the next drive I drove it flawlessly down the field but started having trouble when I got to Florida's 3 yard line. After three consecutive sacks Nesbitt threw a pick to ice the game.

#2 Florida 35

Final Analysis
[i]We stayed with them for the majority of the game which is something to be proud of but in the end we lost again. Newton picked us apart and our safeties are seriously lacking from last year's guys. I think we'll give Jerrard Tarrant the start at FS this week. I was happy with Josh Nesbitt's performance through the air but our ground game was definetely lacking.

Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech
After starting 0-2, this is a game that Georgia Tech will want to use to bounce back. Virginia Tech also lost it's first game to Nebraska so both teams are looking for their first wins of the season and the first ACC win of the season.
In last weeks game Techs normally stout running game fizzled and the Jackets will need to get back on track in that category if they want to win today.
The pass defense of the Jackets has been absimal also year and today the Jackets have to face another great passer, this time Tyrod Taylor.
Tech looks to be overmatched in this game but with the running game they have don't underestimate them.

Game Summary
1st Quarter
In my first home game of the season I was also looking for my first win of the year. I won the coin toss and chose to defer until the second half. I have confidence my D can come out rolling. They would fumble the kickoff so I got the ball with relatively good field position. I wouldd do nothing through and would punt. Tyrod Taylor would orchestrate a good drive that would culminate with a 7 yard pass to a wide open Zack Luckett0-7 After a good drive highlighted with a couple Marcus Wright runs, Roddy Jones would run it in from 1 yard out for Ga Tech's first points7-7

Tech would lead another great drive which ended with a 36 yard Dustin Keys field goal14-24 The next Georiga Tech drive was all Marcus Wright and he capped it off with a 12 yard score21-24 Tech's next drive amounted to nothing so they punted. The next drive was perfectly led and on the last play of the quarter, Jonathan Dwyer took the ball 39 yards for the major and the lead.28-24

4th Quarter
After a long drive by Virginia Tech, Taylor threw his second pick of the game, this time to Osahon Tongo. I would do nothing through and would punt it back to Tech. On their drive Taylor played like he wanted to lose and threw a pick to Dominique Reese. On the next play Wright would seal it by running for a 30 yard TD.35-24 Jerrard Tarrant would seal it with a pick in the end zone and Marcus Wright would add an 80 yard TD run.

Final Analysis
[i]I think that Marcus Wright and Jonathan Dwyer are the best combination of backs in NCAA history. Wright rushed for over 300 yards today! Our pass D defenitely got it together with 5 picks of Taylor and inserting Jerrard Tarrant into the lineup was a terrific move.

(1-2)North Carolina at (1-2)Georgia Tech
After Marcus Wrights show last week the Jackets have one goal today:
Get it in number 3's hands.
Wright is the key to the offense and if he puts up half the numbers he did last week it will be a Tech win.
North Carolina pulled off the upset last year which really tore the wheels off this team but don't expect the same result this year especially after Tech's pass D got it together last week against Virginia Tech.

Final Analysis
[i]Our D needs to improve. This game was the very defintion of why not to sit on a lead. We were lucky we won. On a happier note our running game once again won the game for us but Josh Nesbitt has to stop getting hurt do much during the game.
