Just had to be first LOL

Microsoft employees knew of a disc damaging fault in the Xbox 360 before putting the console on the market, a recently unsealed document involved in an ongoing lawsuit suggests.
The US class-action lawsuit, launched in July 2007, demands compensation from the software giant for a design flaw in the Xbox 360 that results in damaged discs when the machine is tilted.
According to The Seattle Post-Intelligencer (http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/microsoft/archives/156941.asp?source=mypi), the document, a declaration by Microsoft's program manager Hiroo Umeno, suggests the company knew that discs could be damaged when the Xbox 360 was reoriented.
"This is ... information that we as a team, optical disc drive team, knew about," said Umeno. "When we first discovered the problem in September or October (2005), when we got a first report of disc movement, we knew this is what's causing the problem."

Sweet, we'll probably all get a check for .27 in punitive damages.

If peeps would leave their damn console alone while it's playing they wouldn't have problems. If you're tilting your console while it's spinning you deserve scratched game disks because you're a dumbass.

sort of. my 3 systems are on an entertaiment stand. well at the time it happened we were dog sitting for my aunt. The dog was running around the house chasing a ball and bumped the stand as he ran into the other room. the game froze. i started it back up and it didnt work. game scratched. the rest is history...

on a side note i took that game to Gamespot and got $20 trade in lol. they dont even check games.

RIP Big Ten Network.

The problem is the simplest bump or nudge will trigger it. It's not the fact that people are playing hot potato or going feng shui with their 360 while it's on, it's the fact that if you even breathe on your console it grinds your discs up like sandblaster.

ya, and i'm thinking its just the media format being used, discs. I could drop my nintendo, SNES, genesis on the floor (I did several times because of wired controllers) and they never stopped playing my games.

hell once i spilled a can of pop on my genesis and it didn't work. i tried it a few hours later and it worked like a charm. must have dried out.

What does this matter...people are still gonna buy it.

no wonder this system is now 199.99. They were overcharging for this crap from the jump.

I can see the rampaging dog or baby issue with disc scratching. But however many people there are in that class action lawsuit - I guarantee 50%+ of them are people that were indeed playing hot potato or had the console laying around where it could get kicked or jostled. It's a flawed console design, no doubt, but it's not a Toughbook either.

Somehow I've made it three years with the same console and no scratched discs - guess I'm lucky.

For real, mine's sat in the same place on my TV stand pretty much since the day I bought it. I dust it off every once in a while and that's about it. When I'd thought it conked out a few weeks back during the NXE upgrade, I was kind of glad b/c I've been wanting the Elite model. But mine just keeps on trucking.

You're doomed....

Bring it I say. I had a first generation Playstation 2 from release until the XBox 360 came out too. If only I could transfer console luck to stock market luck.

My system still scratches my games (superficial scratches) but its starting to piss me off. And when I called microsoft they told me I would have to pay $120 for a disk replacement....I was like what.....F**K No. This shit is covered for 3 years. And then they tell me no only RROD. So now im hoping for rrod so I can get another system that hopefully has been fixed.

Todd knocked over my 360 with madden in it once. I brought it to Walmart and told them my copy was scratched. I didn't buy it at walmart.... problem solved though...
