MIAMI -- The Pro Bowl will be played one week before the Super Bowl in 2010 and both games will be staged in Dolphin Stadium, a person directly involved in the decision told The Associated Press on Monday.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL has not announced the move.

Barring a schedule change, next season's Pro Bowl will take place Jan. 31, 2010, with the Super Bowl that year on Feb. 7. The league's plan is for players on the AFC and NFC championship squads not to take part in the Pro Bowl.

I think this is stupid. I know people already have their qualms with the Pro Bowl, whether it be with the selection process or the actual game, but let's leave them out of this. I just think this move is a dumb one, partially because it leaves out the players from arguably the four best teams in the league. And I feel like it would just be weird having the Pro Bowl in between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl, where it really doesn't belong amidst the playoff schedule. Thoughts?

This is a good move. People might actually watch it now. And who cares about the players in the Super Bowl, like they care about missing out on the Pro Bowl. The only thing the players don't get is the free trip to Hawaii, which they have plenty of money to cover on their own.

I think thats kind of dumb, now it will be even more of a joke. If they don't want it to be in Hawaii just have it rotate among warm weather/dome teams like the superbowl, I'm sure the owners would love it like that. ($$)

edit: yeah I guess more people would watch it then, cause then it'd be more like another spectacle of the super bowl...on second thought, (lol) I think its a good idea because it adds to the whole super bowl atmosphere

lol, 2 minute flip flop

The top players are usually in the Super Bowl though... so now we just won't ever see those guys in the Pro Bowl, the guys who are probably most deserving to go that is. I do agree it will help with viewing though, just because the season isn't officially over yet and people are still interested. I'll watch it more I suppose.

I like the move, I might actually watch the game this time. If players have to play in the Super Bowl, still give them the honor of being on the team, but they just sit it out.

Will also help with the ridiculous two week break between the conference championships and Super Bowl.

what nfl player would want to PLAY in the pro bowl?

the whole thing is a joke, fine....vote the players into the "pro bowl" but, do they really need to play the game? its just a joke

like, say the vikings miss the playoffs in 2010....is adrian peterson really going to want to go to miami to play in the pro bowl after his season is over? why not to go some exotic private resort somwheres else

A good deal of the NFL is in town for the Super Bowl anyway. Definitely players like Adrian Peterson will be there regardless Pro Bowl or not.

Here's my question: What if the Super Bowl was played in a city like Detroit, like it was a few years ago? Most players would enjoy the trip to Hawaii with their families to play in the Pro Bowl, but why on earth would someone who makes the Pro Bowl want to go up the Michigan to play?

They'll probably just create a rotation of the Super Bowl in the big warm weather towns, like Miami, San Diego, New Orleans, maybe Houston, probably the new Dallas...

The site of the Super Bowl locations after Miami have already been announced and will be played in the new Cowboys stadium in in 2011, and in Indianopolis in 2012. Neither of which are bad or cold cities, but they aren't exactly a vacation in Hawaii...
