Wow, never would have anticipated this. However I think it is the right move, they have been a very mediocre for awhile now.

It get's to the point where you can't hang on to a guy solely because of what he did in his past.
Shanahan is a good coach, and he did have to deal with a lot of injuries this year. But being the first team to ever blow a first place lead in week 17 after having it the entire year, and putting together one of the worst defenses we've seen in some time.
Just might be time to part ways.

Yeah, this was definitely a move that needed to take place. The Broncos have been very average for awhile now. TBH, they shouldn't have even been playing for the division in Week 17. If it wasn't for Ed, they would have lost to the Chargers earlier in the year as well.

Who else thinks he'll get hired pretty quick again.
not surprised. the broncos offense was heading into to the wrong direction and not making the playoffs when they should didnt help much. This offense is going to struggle with him not there. Im curious to see the direction the offense will be heading in.

Yeah, I'd anticipate him getting scooped up pretty quickly.
edit: and lol, raider21 you seem very resentful about the NFL, saying F*** you to Brady, laughing at him possibly being out for another year, "Shannarat"...
Didnt really see this coming, but looking at it it makes sense. Denver defense has been terrible and with the massive collapse, had to happen

I know sometimes, even if something is good, people need something fresh. I don't personally agree with this, but I don't know much about the Broncos either.

not much of a shock to me, in this league three years without a playoff appearance is just not good enough

He also was the first coach to have a team lose a 3 game lead with 3 games remaining.

Him and Mangini will likely be back next year.

Lmao....Call it what you want but I don't like Brady (Yes FUCK HIM) or his *'s and Give me a break on the Shannarat... He was only our nemesis for over a decade. Sorry for being happy he is gone. I guess you never made fun of your rival team before.

Damn. With the Bronco's problems with their defence, I could understand if they were to take some of Shanahan's power away and hand over personel decisions to a GM, but from a purely coaching standpoint he is one of the best in the league, and is probobly a future hall of fame coach.
I'll give him 5 days before he becomes the new head coach of another team.

Was asked to fire defensive coordinator, obviously didn't, so he got fire instead.
Detroit should avoid fucking around with risky coordinators and hire him.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!
Jerry fire Wade and Hire Mike!
Mike is firm and is exactly what the team needs. Shanahan worked out Romo before Romo decided to sign with the Cowboys. And, Shanhan actually worked out TO before he signed with Dallas also.

ok, maybe not alot per se, but it just seems like a good fit, they need defense, he brings defense...
lol, John Clayton agrees with me (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=3800871)

cowher also said no to the jets...rumor has it he was only considering the jets initially because his daughters both go to school in new york...i dont see cowher going to the broncos...a lot of the players they are invested in are fit for a passing offense, a la cutler, marshall, and royal...and with the swiss cheese defense the broncos currently possess this team would have a long way to go before becoming a cowher team...
be interesting to see where shanahan goes, i have to think that with the weapons offensively in detroit that he could definitely make some good things happen pretty quickly...but as has been his problem for quite sometime, he would need to find a decent defensive coordinator to sign along with any team that he would be coaching...
either way, i'm definitely happy to have shanahan out of the division, being a chiefs fan and all...and i REALLY hope that KC doesn't get some crazy idea to sign him...that would be ridiculous...
here's an idea...how about marty schottenheimer to denver? he would face two of his former teams (KC and SD) plus the much-hated raiders...being that SD dropped him after a 14-2 season and that the SD-Denver rivalry is about as bittter as it has been in some years, i think that he would find some joy in showing the chargers the mistake they made each and every year....plus schottenheimer has a proven track record of turning around struggling franchises (browns, chiefs, chargers)...something to keep an eye out for...

Anyone else see the press conference this afternoon? Shit... teams are gonna be ready to release their current coach to get the guy, if he doesn't become a business man.
