Just as expected, this game was a physical low scoring battle. The game went into the 3rd period scoreless and almost remained that way through regulation. Both teams got feisty as there were two fights. One involving Clowe, and the other involving Murray. The Sharks won both the fights and set the tone for the rest of the game. The only goal came at the 18:18 mark of the 3rd period when Jonathan Cheechoo put one past jean sebastien giguere to take the lead 1-0.

The Sharks looked to be out of it early as the Kings got a quick score in the 1st and another to start the 2nd period. Thornton when asked about it said, "We came out flat and we got punished early for it." After the 2 quick scores, Michalek decided to take things into his own hands by scoring two goals to tie it up. After that Cheechoo (3) and Marcel Goc added a goal. By the end of the 5-2 beating the Kings were worn down and mentally diminished. Kopitar said of the Sharks, "They come to play every day. They hit early and often and it wears a toll on your body and it showed tonight.

The Kings will be looking for sweet revenge after the beating the Sharks put on them just a short while ago. They jumped on the Sharks early, but just let up. That may not happen this time.

Lack Luster Sharks Lose a Close One

The Sharks must have thought they had this one in the bag when they showed up in Los Angeles, because they did not come to play today. They played slow and sloppy hockey all night. The Sharks got behind early when Teddy Purcell put one in the back of the net early in the first period. From then on out the Sharks just couldn't get a handle on the puck. The Kings would poke check the puck away almost immediately. The Sharks need to put this one behind them and look forward to their next game.
