Fumbles

The increased number of fumbles seems to be the biggest complaint so far that has ruined the game for many of the community members that I hang with. I know you can cover up but sometimes there is no reason to cover up and a fumble happens anyways.

The main reason for many of them is for offline play there is no slider to control this, and for online play even if there was a slider you couldn't play with them anyways.

Pasta any word you have heard regarding this from the Madden team and whether or not they see it as a problem?

Its hard to say right now. I know they're evaluating things and that certainly seems it would be on top of the list. But as to a patch, to my knowledge nothing is in the works. There was a rumor started in Game Informer last month that said they were already on top of a patch to deal with fumbles and that it would come out soon after release. I haven't heard that there is anything to that but I wouldn't count it out either.

I'd say our average probably falls around 4. And thats with many fewer drives than an actual game.

It is hard to not be annoyed when there are three fumbles on a single play like I've actually seen lol.

I agree. Lets don't forget about the ints the cpu throws as well. I feel like an outfielder more than a DB. :mad:

Unless your speaking specifically CPU...I have not found that the fumbles are a problem...In fact I see very few per game...To me it seems like they got it right...I see one or two here and there but in head to head play they are not happening at a crazy rate...There have been games when I've seen 3-4...then games when I've seen none...Its football...turnovers happen

I hope to god they patch this, or add a slider for offline play. My QB and RB are leading the league in fumbles by like 4 each after 3 games....

Also, has anyone noticed some weirdness during franchise mode? The POY for week two had 6 picks in one game... that's not very realistic.

This is my rant from SG..

People who are denying that there's a fumbling issue are insane, people that are offering suggestions for how not to fumble are insane. It doesn't matter what you do in this game... I've fumbled while covering the ball as many times as I've fumbled without covering the ball.. I've fumbled while stepping out of a leg tackle. I've fumbled by being tapped while running out of bounds.

I actually press R1 at the end of every run, or anytime I'm in traffic now and it doesn't make any difference at all.

Aside from the fact that it doesn't actually work, what's the point of forcing you to cover up the ball ALL THE TIME? Players like LT, LJ or Adrian Peterson routinely make moves in traffic or to escape tackles in the hole... you eliminate that if you're forced to cover up whenever contact is initiated (and covering up doesn't make a difference, if I haven't mentioned it.)

The fumbles add an frustrating component to the game that just doesn't need to be there and is in no way realistic. I can't tell you how many times I've seen multiple fumbles on the same play... or INT, fumble, fumble. It's just dumb. Like every madden, they get so into their new gimmick that it ruins some aspect of gameplay... The hit stick is cool, the weapons are cool... but they shouldn't turn it the game into a constant fumble drill.

I really haven't noticed to much of a problem with this in the games I've played online or head to head offline. Every once in a while I'll get a game where there will be 3 or 4 fumbles but more often then not there are none or 1 in my games and they usually only come on a big hit when you'd be more likely to fumble.

Or maybe I just haven't been paying close enough attention lol.

Just played online w/ Fred. Bobby Wade fumbled and then Hunter Hillenmeyer fumbled the recovery... and then in the 4th, I convert a 3rd down by a couple yards w/ a screen pass... cover up... and Adrian Peterson fumbles when a corner hits him.

Fumbles are not a huge problem with me. The most I had was like 3, so I haven't really had the big problems some might have. But, it sucks when I am in the red zone and sure ball carrier fumbles and we lose it.

i've only fumbled once so far, i think its bc LJ has a pretty damn good carry rating. But is there a cover the ball button on the xbox 360? I used it all the time on the ps2 versions bc nothing is worse than a fumble bc u couldve easily prevented it
