NEW YORK -- Chad Pennington has made a comeback from a comeback.

The Miami Dolphins quarterback won The Associated Press 2008 NFL Comeback Player of the Year award Wednesday, the second time in three years Pennington has received the honor. He also earned it in 2006 while with the New York Jets.

Pennington is the first player in the 11 seasons of the award to win it twice.

Pennington received 19 votes, 13 more than quarterbacks Kerry Collins of Tennessee and Jake Delhomme of Carolina. Another quarterback, Arizona's Kurt Warner, received four votes, as did his teammate, wide receiver Anquan Boldin. So did Tampa Bay wideout Antonio Bryant.

Two of Pennington's teammates also received votes: linebacker Joey Porter (3) and running back Ronnie Brown (1).

Also with one vote were San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers, Pittsburgh safety Ryan Clark and Baltimore tackle Willie Anderson.

Coming back from what...being a career backup? Not his award.

Uhh yeah, hes been a backup his whole career and now is like 2nd in the league in yards, i dont watch "Chan" so i never really noticed how good he is but apparently he has some skill.

I wouldn't really consider Turner's emergence this year a comeback though, as people who win the award usually have a good thing going, then suffer a setback, and then overcome whatever the obstacle was and have renewed success. I just don't really see Turner as having that kind of situation, although his smooth transition into being a featured back was really phenomenal.

that sounds like Turner would win "Most Improved Player of the Year", which is different than "Comeback Player for the Year".

Chan got injured, benched, then cut by the Jests. He has lead a 1-15 team to an 11-5 record, AFC East Championship + playoffs, and has the stats to be at least considered for league MVP.

If that doesn't win you this awards, then I don't know what does lol.

Chad is and always has been one of the best QB's in the game. He's always had my respect.

Besides Manning and Brady, i think Pennington's about the smartest QB you can get. He may not have the psyhical talent like Russel and Young, but he has the brains to be an elite Quarterback.
