2009 looks to be the year for the PS3 16 exclusives.

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.ps3fanboy.com/media/2009/01/gow425intro09.jpg (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/photos/ps3-games-to-look-for-in-2009/1257715/)

2008 was "The Year of the PS3?" Pfft. Excuse me, but even PS3's fantastic 2008 library won't be able to compete with the likes of 2009 (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/photos/ps3-games-to-look-for-in-2009/1257715/). In one year, you'll see the likes of Killzone 2, Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain. And there's tons of other exclusives, PlayStation Network titles, and third party titles that are bound for the system. (And to think, there are still games that haven't been revealed yet!)

The following list includes games that are currently scheduled for a 2009 release. However, as was the case in 2008, some of these games may stumble into delays. The list is broken up in order, with PS3 exclusives coming first. (And boy, are there a lot!)

PS3 Exclusives (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/photos/ps3-games-to-look-for-in-2009/1257715/)
PlayStation Network Exclusives (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/photos/ps3-games-to-look-for-in-2009/1257685/)
Multiplatform Titles (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/photos/ps3-games-to-look-for-in-2009/1258355/)

You aint lying Juke...luckily I'm not one of those others and will be able to enjoy all these fantastic games. Though for the 3rd straight year it looks like my wallet will be crying, girlfriend will be pissed off, and alot of people will be getting IOUs on birthdays.

Modern Warfare 2. I might get this. I might even give MAG a lil go round. 256 players is a bit much though.

2008 was supposed to be the year of the PS3 as well, we all saw how that turned out. It doesnt matter what games Sony throws out there, they have to cut the price of their system. They have already said they will not cut the price before summer, so if they do cut the price of the PS3, i excpect it to be somewhere in late summer to early fall.

And how did it turn out for the Ps3 again?...cause I mean looking at the exclusives the Ps3 was the better system to have. 360 had Fable II and the Wii had Brawl and Mario Kart.

If your still going by sales then yeah the Ps3 is still the loser, but hell I go by quality of games and the Ps3 is easily coming out with noteworthy game in bunches. Looking at 2009 it will be no different either.

Ok, and what did they do with those noteworthy games??? The PS3's numbers FELL in 2008, while Microsoft's and Nintendo's numbers climbed. You mentioned one game for Microsoft's console, Fable II yet you conveniently left out Gears of War II which outsold EVERY PS3 exclusive, even the almighty Metal Gear Solid 4. I can do that too, the only game the PS3 had was Metal Gear. See how easy that was? You can talk about how amazing all these games are, but if people aren't buying them, theres not much for Sony to go on.

I will say this tho, besides Ghostbusters, Among Thieves is my most anticipated title of 09. Theres not an Xbox exclusive that is sure to hit in 09 that im really looking forward to.

http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2009/01/06/low-november-ps3-growth-down-to-40gbs-successful-introduction/

Pretty easy to see why numbers fell in 08

Talking to CNET (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13772_3-10132039-52.html), Sony has revealed why the PS3's November sales were actually lower in 2008 than in 2007, despite an upward trend for other consoles across the board. It seems that the introduction of the 40GB model and a new lower price in November 2007 was too successful, meaning that the PS3 was unable to compete with itself even a year later. What Sony forgot to mention is that the cheapest Xbox 360 is currently selling for half the cheapest PS3's price.

Sounds obvious, doesn't it? Price cut equals more sales. Maybe if Sony had done the same thing in 2008 the PS3 would have outsold its own year-old ghost (that's a racing game metaphor, not a Christmas Carol "Ghost of Christmas Past" one). Microsoft's Aaron Greenburg says in the same CNET post (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13772_3-10132039-52.html) that the company's internal figures suggest that the Xbox 360 now has an 8 million unit lead on the PS3 worldwide, with 28 million 360s and 20 million PS3s in the wild.

Until the December NPD numbers appear we won't know the true truth, but it's fair to assume he 360 outsold the PS3 by a decent margin. Hopefully we'll see a price drop soon, so that more people can get hold of a PS3 without having to take out a second mortgage.

Sounds like spin to me. 'Oh we did too well which is why our numbers fell below Microsofts and Nintendos.'

I expect Sony's number to pick up drastically in 09, due to some, hopefully stellar titles and a price cut. However, i dont think theyll be able to catch Microsoft or Nintendo in units sold. The "console war" will end just like you see it now. Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony. All of the heavy hitters are out, Sony wont have another title like Metal Gear Solid 4, same goes for MS with Halo/Gears of War.

But Sony will have more/better exclusives from here on out. And MGS4 wasn't the only great game for the PS3 in 2008 - just like Fable wasn't the only one for the 360. Damn.
And if you consider the end of this console generation to be the point where the new consoles are introduced... that's just not right - look at the PS2 - today; you're arguing everything based on sales, well, if the PS3 follows in the footsteps of the PS2 your bold prediction might be incorrect.

Well for starters, saying "Sony will have better exclusives from here on out" is a wee bit biased and your arguments that follow should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Anyway, i never said MGS4 was the PS3's only great game, but it was the systems best game and i dont see another title matching it. As for the end of the console gen, yes its when all the new consoles are out. NO one still considers the PS2 part of this "current" gen of consoles, regardless of how many units it sells. Youre trying to make the argument that beacuse the PS2 still sells that its still part of the current generation of systems???

No, I'm saying the PS3 will likely be moving more units later in it's life, just like the PS2. Why is saying Sony will have better exclusives from here on out biased? It's not. I just made the switch from 360 to PS3 because of this. I didn't just get a PS3 and decide to support it.

Because there is ZERO evidence in that statement. Saying one system will have the "better" games just shows that you hope your system of choice has said titles. Now unless you have a crystal ball and can see into the future of gaming, theres no telling who will have the "better" exclusives. There are exclusives on all 3 sides that have yet to be announced yet.

The only thing i know, is that whoever has the "better" titles, ill be able to get em. Unless its Nintendo, i dont have a Wii.

MLB The Show (annually)
Uncharted 2
Little Big Planet 2
Killzone 2
God of War 3

... these are all confirmed exclusives. There's my evidence. My crystal ball told me.

Are you implying MS has something up their sleeves? I don't think we're gonna see too many yet unnanounced exclusives this generation.

Thing is there are very few games I think we can consider "blockbusters" on both systems.

The games you listed, God Of War 3 is probably the only game that can be considered a blockbuster, on the same level as the Halos, MSG, Gears. The others you listed will sell, but they don't appeal to everyone with the other games do. They aren't system sellers like the others.

I don't know if I agree totally, I would say Uncharted 2 as well, but I get what you mean. People are always looking to get new games though, Masta's probably the only one I ever see talking about checking out older games. Most gamers move on. The games I mentioned will be the big ones throughout the year, with little competition, except for Halo:ODST. I guess I don't really know what else is coming out this year. Possibly COD5?

Both MS and Sony have stated they have unannounced titles.

If you say Little Big Planet 2, then ill Say Gears of War 3.(neither of these will come out in 09)

MS has plans to release the next Mass Effect title and as of this moment, it'll be exclusive(altho that may, and possibly will change). Alan Wake is also a title MS is holding on to.

Again saying the PS3 has the "better exclusives" is a subjective statement and one from a slanted point of view. If i wanted to do that i could, id just say something like Alan Wake will do to survival horror what Resident Evil did and it'll be the best game of the year.

After all is said and done, Sony could very well have the most and best exclusives at the end of the year, but will it translate to increased productivity? People said this last yr and the answer was no, even with the Playstation 3's biggest title releasing that year.

Well if you aren't talking exclusives, theres a slew of titles coming out.

Street Fighter IV
Resident Evil 5
Chronicles of Riddick
Ghostbusters
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Batman: Arkham Asylum

Just to name a few.

Microsoft is hoping Alan Wake and Mass Effect are going to make it into 09. There is also the exclusive GTA IV DLC that is coming next month as well. Not to forget about Halo:ODST and Halo Wars. You say there isnt much competition, i say you just aren't looking at both sides.

lol OS. dude you know how small that group is to the rest of the world. if sites like OS, SG, etc.. would be a big part of the consumer base we'd have every single thing we asked for in a sports game. it doesn't work that way. even if people at OS bought ps3 for the show, it still wasn't more than 100. thats nothing.

What you consider a good year differs from what I consider to be a good year. You're looking at it in terms of sales, and I'm looking at it in terms of games that I'll personally enjoy. 360 has a much larger base right now, I think 8 million more units out there than PS3 - I think it's obvious which platform will sell more software. Like I said, for me it's all about great games that I'll be able to play on one system and not on the other - in the end I chose the PS3. I experienced the best of the best on the 360, and I've got nothing bad to say about any of those games. Now I plan on experiencing the best of the PS3.

And if you mean "slanted point of view" as in, it's my opinion - I agree. But damn, dude, I have no reason not to own a 360 over the PS3 if that's what I wanted.

Well i dont mean to jump on ya, it just sounded like you were waving the Sony flag. I couldnt make a statement like "the PS3 will have the better exlcusives" and not see myself as being biased. Then again, there is a reason i own both consoles, i love things about each and couldnt see myself giving up one or the other.

Yeah, I sold it just before Christmas. Didn't want to really, but I got a really good offer and I would have had to wait for my tax return to get a PS3 otherwise. I'm sure I'll own one again some day.
