With my 360 on the fritz, I thought I should pick up a new ps3 game. What is out to get? Anything interesting?

No SOCOM, No LBP, anything else is open...

Doesn't need to be a game you play online since I dont know many people who play with the ps3 online and use voice.

I only have singing games for PS3.

I had Uncharted, RFOM, SOCOM. I dont think I need any more shooters. I have enough of those lol.

I also got Buzz Quiz TV on Christmas eve. My wife and I have a lot of fun playing this game together, there are 5000 questions out of the box and I purchased some add on content via the PSN store which gave me an additional 1500 questions

I was thinking about getting that Buzz Quiz game. Assasins Creed was was an ok game Fred. I usually don't like games like that, and found it entertaining. It did become monotonous after a while though.

Buzz is a fun game. The only thing that I find wrong with it is after awhile playing the same rounds every game gets boring. I hope they release a patch where players can select the rounds. This game can be played online which is a plus, but I have not tried it yet.

Although I know you've said that you aren't into Metal Gear, I would highly recommend MSG4.

Heavenly Sword is short and didn't get the best reviews, but I really enjoyed it. It's very under rated, IMO.

and if you have an open mind and are willing to try something you may not normally play, I would suggest Valkyria Chronicles. It's a RPG/Strategy/3rd person shooter hybrid. It's my favorite PS3 game, behind MSG4. Download the demo from the PS Store and check it out.

Hot Shots Golf is a very fun game, as well.

What about Mirrors Edge? That game looks interesting.

Or Spiderman Web of Shadows?

MK VS DC is a good game, on and offline, as is the wrestling game Smackdown VS RAW 2009.

You said no shooters or sports games... I think that leaves you with MGS4 - which isn't for everyone. No LBP? Damn.

Fred

No LBP because nobody made it sound appealing when I asked what the hell it was on SG. The only thing I gathered is create shit.

Mirror's Edge is an interesting game, but I found it to be frustrating as hell. I wanted to punch babies after missing jumps a few times. I'd try the demo.

No, you don't need to be into creating levels to love LBP - if you do get into it though, it gives the game infinite replay value obviously. But playing through the levels is a lot like the Donkey Kong games for the SNES, but with some of the best graphics this generation and most impressive physics engines out there.

The story in story mode is nothing really to pay attention to - you're really playing to collect all stuff scattered throughout the levels. Trying to find all that stuff can be addicting as hell. Then again, the items you're collecting are all things you can use to create levels - so maybe you wouldn't care. It is a lot of fun though. My wife basically forced me to buy the game, but the minute I started playing it became one of my favorites.

I know you're not into "kiddie" games though, so not really a recommendation, just trying to give you an idea of what it's about.

P.S. Mirrors Edge = terrible.

Mirrors Edge = good proof of concept, NOT complete game.

It'd be an awesome addition gameplay to a good FPS (imagine Far-Cry with the added Mirrors Edge elements)

LBP takes me back to the old school days of side scrollers with
a new and funny feel, and that's with out creating anything.
Just a fun game, and I can play it with my daughter.

LBP is the way to go if you would like to try something new ... I'm the same way when it comes to games.. i hate kiddie looking stuff but man is this game good.. i has a vintage feel to it with prob. the best graphics out on any system..
