I liked the sopranos but in my opinion its probably the most overrated show ever. I only mentioned it because Mad Men has a similar feel to it and its creator (Matt Weiner) used to write on the Sopranos and is a protege of David Chase.

I tried to get into Mad Men first season, but I couldn't. I'm regretting it now, and I'll probably just have to wait for the DVDs.

I've never seen Mad Men, so I can't argue against it, and you're right, it is an unfair comparison.

But in my opinion, LOST is the best show on TV right now, maybe ever. Nothing anyone says can change that either. If you haven't watched it, do yourself a favor and pick it up. I think Netflix just added it to instant streaming, so that's available also. I'm an aspiring TV writer, and Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof are basically my heroes when it comes to television.
From what I've heard, Mad Men is a great show, but it's not really an original concept. But what LOST does, whether it's story telling techniques, character development, or just the overall concept is so original and so engrossing it just can't be beat (at least in my mind). If you can make it through the first 5 episodes and not be hooked, I don't know...

Wow...Nice Clip. I watched the pilot this week. It was pretty good. The first season is $15.99. It's weird to see so many people smoking.

The Wire maybe one of the best dramas. Loved that show.

Yeah, I'm behind on Season 2, but I'll be DVRing it until I finish Season 2.

finished season 2 last night, gonna watch the 3 premiere later tonight.

season 2 was sooo good. cali epi's were especially awesome. def the best show i've seen since the wire.

sidenote: anyone watch breaking bad? probably gonna start that relatively soon.
