Can we decide how many years to give a play?

If a player has one year left on his contract. Can i resign him durin the season to a longer contract?

And durin the offseason can i use my cap to resign a player so he won't go into FA?

Umm the point of free agency is for a player to get the highest possible total for themselves. This is true to real life, hell look at Madden itself which uses the same system.

The obvious solution isn't just to go 1pt higher, but to make a bid you believe will not be outbid. If you know you have the cap space then you are at an advantage.

Fellas: Just so the bidding is easier to track and there's some sort of order, instead of reposting a new message with your new bid, update your original post, with the update bidding next to the player's name / last bid / teams still bidding.

Example:

Remember there is a time stamp at the bottom of every post and this what we will go by to track deadlines, most recent bidders, last bidder.

Years will be implemented once free agency off-season hits in terms of years etc.... The stipulations will resemble something like:

Players with OVR [80 - 99] under age of 29 will sign minimum 3 year contracts - can not be traded or released.

And no you cannot resign players during the year. Guys we are a creating a virtual system through rules / guidelines / restrictions / requirements. THERE ARE GOING TO BE HOLES and it will not be a perfect system as long as guys don't try to sneak around the system, we should be good.

48 hours from time of first bid....which is why it is paramount that guys simply EDIT their first original post, with updated bids, and new players being bid on, and status of bid on each player, so if you drop out of running for a player, write DROP next to player's name.

Dirty-Dozen - I believe the cap number gets tallied every year according to player's ratings increase / decrease. Therefore if you get a steal in free agency, and the player develops then his cap number going up, balances out how much of a steal you got. Vice-versa, if you overpay for a vet whose rating drops in year 2 ..... his cap drops according to his rating, however he must still be on the books.

If not, I could convert my Excel spreadsheet into a Google doc and make it available for everyone to use. Finally figured out how to use IF, THEN, AND statements well enough to create a spreadsheet that calculates cap space automatically.

It already ended for some of the first bid upon FA's. The window is 48 hours from when a new player has a bid on him with an extended 12 hour window if there are two parties going back and forth even with the initial 48 hour window coming to a close, I believe.

This is why the FA bidding, and releasing of players, should have a cleaner section of the forum. Couple of us had the idea to create a seperate forum section for free agents, where the posts would be the players name, position, and overall with the posts inside only being bids and by what team. That way to see the latest bid you just go to the last post, no searching through multiple pages.

No you have 305 (salary cap) - XXX (your current team salary) = points you can spend.
If you current salary is 250 points, you can spend 55 in free agency.

Well, if you see any free agents you want you can bid on them. Otherwise you can hold on to your points until the offseason. They represent your salary cap, so some teams have room and some teams don't. If your young players get better they will eat more of your points, and if you have less points you will release less player value in the offseason.

I think he will start producing before that. Not today, and the 49ers have a bye week next week, but after that. Just put him in the slot, and throw him a slant or two. Just get him the ball somehow, someway. I would like to see him in the exact formations that Gore busted out his two +75 yrd rushes, and do a PA something to him, just to mix it up.

I think he ends up with about 25-30 catches before the year is over, if not more. I have a few bets with some Raider fans from work that Crabtree will end up with more catches than Heyward-Bey.

Heyward Bey is terrible ... at least in the pros. He 's not disciplined route runner, and you 're not going to be that, speed alone isn't going to help you in the NFL ... plus the raiders QB ....no comment.

According to the free agent rules in offfseason, you have to bid a minumum of half of there worth. Thats why next to all the bums i signed i wrote what i bid, and not what there worth.
But I think if you decided to keep them the following season after signing them they would go back up to there actual value, because your only signing them to a 1 yr deal. Its only a 5 yr league anyways so i dont see the point of keeping track. We are moving plenty of players around through trades, and thats sorta the point.
