View Full Version : Looking forward to the draft

Anyone feeling this way after just one game? I pretty much got my ass kicked and Lawyer Milloy sucks no wonder he was a FA. Somehow was able to make a game of it though.

This is probably the best part of it being a franchise instead of a league. Always had issues in leagues with people quitting once they lost games and realized they weren't making the playoffs. Now there is always the future :)

I'm definitely amped for the draft. Going to go after a backup for McNabb, since he should retire in 4-5 years, lol.

Even though it played well, my defense needs some upgrades, so yeah, I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah Pasta...definitely and since I've done the draft in a Mock OF. You will readily see who will be able to help you right away because you can see EVERY single rating. I hope to bolster my WR core and RBs because Ochocinco and Coles aren't getting any younger.

Cedric Benson= NOT the answer at RB...

Hopefully you can get the draft going on a Sat and if people aren't able to participate; at least they can set their Pre-Draft rankings like in Fantasy Football and the CPU will simulate their picks accordingly

You can see all ratings? That's dumb. They should make it like it is offline.

yea but since there is no scouting then we would just be picking random players. I wish it was like offline, that would give me something to do after iv played my game and im waiting for the week to advance

Yeah unfortunately you can see ALL the ratings. On one hand it makes for "if you need a guy specifically; you can get him" But it does take the mystery or "gem or bust" system out of play.

Also; I don't know if the draft classes are set to where they will be the same or randomize but there are some really FAST players in the Draft. i.e. you will still be able to get 95 speed guys in rounds 5 & 6. Not that speed is everything but it was astounding that guys were in abundance. There are also some "easter egg" names in the Draft as well. Like Tim Tribow who happens to be #15. LaRon James is another one.

Those were all in Head Coach. There's also Boar Jackson, etc, etc.

Does it show their potential rating also?

good ques.. they should hide that

AzureEffect

Maybe they will tweak it to where it hides those ratings. I participated in a Mock OF when the game first dropped; so maybe they are working on that and did not expect any Franchises to get to that point before they are able to fix it. The draft is pretty schweet though, as you can particpate on the web...you don't HAVE to be on your console to make your picks.

I believe it did not show the Potential rating but all the other ratings were there.

hey Azure how long does everyone have to make their pick?

AzureEffect
08-24-2009, 12:28 PM
The Commish has the option to make it as long as 60 seconds or as short as 15 seconds. The CPU usually picks within 3 seconds...although we have 32 users in this League. It goes really fast though. Kind of fun. The BAD thing is that it automatically goes to Week 1 of the next season after the draft. It's no real "Off-Season"

HMMM, Do I tank this season and try to get TRIBOW? lol

AzureEffect
08-24-2009, 12:40 PM
LOL. He's not even the best QB prospect in the class though. He's definitely the fastest (85 speed if I remember) and a pretty good TRK rating. Other than that; just another QB. There's like 3 guys in that class that are along the lines of 97 THP, 87 THA.

I don't really remember their names but it's definitely some pretty good prospects in the class.

do we get to check out some of the prospects before we start the draft?

Yeah, as long as the draft is not live you are allowed to Pre-rank players and therefore check the ratings of the entire class. The pre-ranking feature helps because it's alot of prospects but it's not necessary.

I gaurantee though that if the ratings aren't hidden by the time that our League drafts that we will see some ridiculous speed on teams because it's right there for the taking and you don't have to look far to get it. Now who knows, this may be the only class with speedsters or it they may be limited to every 2 classes or so.

It should be interesting to see how it all plays out and if the "Tribow" class is the first class we get.

I'm still holding hope for this season seeing as I wasn't completely obliterated in week one.

Is there anything before the draft or does it go from the Superbowl to the Draft to the Regular Season? If so, what about progression? Does it just happen?

The draft should be fun, and it's amusing that we're discussing it while Week 1 is still in progress. lol

I know this....I need a friggin QB, I haven't even played my game yet, but I tweaked my rosters for offline play, everything looks tight.....EXCEPT Campbell, forget TRIBOW like Azzure said...he's got a few things going for him...I want BRADFORD!!

I'm just gonna play all my young guys and hope they progress for a run next year. The only good old guy I have is Ellis anyway.

The sad part is the progression isn't that great, at least offline. I think at most one of my players went up 2 or 3 OVR, even after a breakout season.

I'm ready to keep this moving so I can blow my team up and rebuild in the draft. Need like 3 games a week!

Really? Jason Smith went from an 84 to an 89 for me. Lauranitis went from a 77 to an 83.

Anyway. My defense was amazing in my first game, but I am sure that I won't be that lucky for the rest of the season. I am mainly going to be looking for CB, WR and LB help when the draft rolls around.

Yeah it was crazy.

Kerry Rhodes is a 92 OVR, with A potential. He had 7 INT's (Couple for TD's) and led the team in TKLS. I think he went up 1 OVR.

Yeah, but you need to remember that a 90+ guy is already near the peak of his potential...

I still think he should have increased more than 1 OVR, I think 3 or 4 would have been good for the kind of season he had.

After losing 34-0 this week to the Raiders, I think I'm officially on the clock.
