View Full Version : Introduce yourself...

I realize most of us know each other but let's go ahead and take a minute to introduce ourselves.
I started the JFL with MMJester with NFL 2k5. Man did we have a great time.
I'm 28 and looking better every day. Ok... ok... I'm 30 cough cough 5 and the dashing good looks are uh... not as dashing as they use to be. I've started coloring my hair to hide the gray for crying out loud!
Anyway. I grew up in Mesquite TX a suburb of Dallas and now live in Waco TX. It's about an 1hr and a half south of Dallas down I35 and an 1hr and a half north of Austin. I'm married and have two kiddos, both boys. One is 16 and one is 2. I had my oldest at 18 and raised him on my own. Then I got married about 3 years ago and have a little one.
For the guys that remember the photo of the red head getting hugged by some other dude on a cruise and how ticked I got... well I married that girl. LOL. Still don't think the photo was explained enough though. ;) Honestly we have a great marriage.
She's a registered nurse and I'm... it's hard to explain. I work at KWTX a CBS affiliate in Waco. Remember the Branch Davidians and how some news photog was blamed for tipping them off the ATF was coming? That was my TV station and I know that guy now. I'm a commercial producer I guess by title. I shoot, edit, animate, and put commercials on the air. I also design graphics. This is my second TV job. I worked for an NBC affiliate for years. Then got a job with a minor league hockey team. Was told by the Houston Aeros of the AHL I had the Art Director job with them only to find out literally at the last minute after putting a deposit down on an apartment in Houston that their Art Director decided not to leave so that is how I ended up in Waco back in tv.
Life has really settled down now into a routine so running a league is possible again.
I'm really looking forward to the season and catching up with all of you again!
I'm on Facebook... Jon Black living in Waco. my work email is jon.black@kwtx.com if anyone needs to contact me during work hours.
My kiddo...

I'm another one of the "old timers" (in more ways than one). Started playing in the JFL back in the 2K5 days, first as the Eagles, traded teams with Biz84 and spent one disastrous season as the Vikings, and then the rest as my hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons.
Hard to believe, but I actually hit the big 4-0 this November. I'm an engineer by day, husband and father of two small children by night.
Grew up in Atlanta, but moved to Huntsville, AL a few years ago to take a job working as an engineer for NASA. Other than actually going into space it's pretty much my dream job.
I've been a lifelong gamer ever since my brother and I got an Atari 2600 back in the late 70's. First football game was the old "rock-paper-scissors" 4-on-4 version:

Despite all the grumblings about Madden, it really is amazing how far things have come.
As most of you know this is a special league and a special group of guys. Looking forward to another great season!
I played that Atari 2600 game, rematch? I don't remember any play calling. wasn't it like the hand-held football?
I got into JFL12k5 because I saw an ad by Jester on the 2k5 boards. Good group of guys. My job is going well and I'm happily married several years (no kids). On the latter half of 30.
I live in NJ but my college roots lie in Columbus.
Good luck to everyone this season, I really like the gameplay this year.

Been gaming since atari but mostly gamed on original ninentedo growing up, then went the way of the genisis, and saturn. Got out of gaming while I was an undergrad but got my Xbox while I was in grad school. 2K5 was a great game, nd nobody could beat the pricepoint. I played in some leagues with sundodger, and a couple other of the gamer tags look familiar. After 2K5 I went from madden game to madden game never feeling fulfilled. I gave All Pro a try, liked it but nobody else was playing online. Now I find myself back with madden hoping it will be different this time. I'm a long time Bears fan so I usually roll with the Bears but I'm trying something new.
I'm 30 and live in Charlotte, NC. I'm a chemist and I teach at a local university and do research on the side. I'm looking for a career change though and after I get married in october hope to start pursuing other career paths.

I got into JFL12k5 because I saw an ad by Jester on the 2k5 boards. Good group of guys.
nice...I remember the Billy Mays type adds I was slapping on the boards trying to drum up solid owners...man it's been a while.
I hooked up w/ thbends early on in 2K5. We put the league together, but he gets all the credit. I helped to gather owners and provided some content on the league site but man, Bendsy would always have that 2K5 league site looking badass..it was awesome. I'm still amazed how that game and those leagues stand alone and nothing has come close since. Someone should be embarassed. Hopefully we have some fun here though...lord knows I'm ready for some football!
I'm a 34 year old Investment Advisor with a wife and 15 mth old baby boy (he's awesome)...CHECK THIS OUT!!!

When my son was 4 months old we saw Marvin Lewis eating a burrito at a local Mexican restaurant...so naturally I interrupt the man's dinner and beg him to take a picture w/ my boy...he gladly accommodated...his first brush w/ greatness!

Uh... 12 years buddy. We KNOW... We KNOW. It sucks.
Ever since Jimmy Johnson left Jerry has done nothing but drive this thing into the ground. Then Parcells shows up and refuels the team. Jerry runs him off and is living on the fumes. I just hope he hires a good coach next year!
How about those Eagles. Picking up Vick might sound like a good idea now BUT just wait. First time McNabb has a bad game, and he WILL, the Eagles fans will be asking for Vick. Of course the overly sensative McNabb will take it way too seriously and all hell will break loose.
Man I went off. Sorry. Hot topic... Eagles and Cowboys. lol
Yeah i can see that coming but I honesty dont think Vick will take any snaps under center this year, unless McNabb gets hurt or there trying to do sometype of Wildcat formation...
but im not worried really...Giants are terrible without there star player...Plax...
Cowboys Off will fall again mid season...and frankly idk who romo is going to throw too...
and the redskins well enough said...
overall though...all 4 teams in the NFC East all have Good Defence so should be interesing

Hello everyone. My name is Steve. I am a 40 year old who is addicted to Madden, lol. I'm the newest of the new guys: Indianapolis Colts owner. I am married and have two sons: Ryan (2), Evan (2 weeks). I have worked in education as a teacher's aide and have coached three sports: football, basketball, and baseball/softball, for eleven years. I actually coached one of the players in this game and several others who have been in past Maddens: Antwaan Randle El when he was in high school. I just finished up my degree in May of 2009 from Indiana University, so I will be able to teach social studies to middle and high school students (still looking for a job, subbing currently and working at a group home for developmentally handicapped individuals). Don't want to take up too much space so looking forward to playing my first game and glad to be a part of this league, thanks.

But its nice to see that Madden actually put out a game that I actually love to play....LOL. Anywho, Im recently married (July 5th) and currently living in MD and have no kids as of yet. But Im sure that will be changing sooner than later. From what Ive seen so far, I think Im going to have an enjoyable time with this league and look forward to leading my Niners to a SB victory.

Hey guys, how's everyone doing? I'm the new owner of the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS. In my first game I beat the Bills 48-0. Expect big things for the leagues #1 passer, Sanchez! I'm 29 and live in Chicago with my girlfriend. My space bar is screwed up and you can tell in a few sentences that there are extra spaces. It will be fixed soon. I'm a huge falcons fan and not looking forward to playing the falcons later this season. I cant wait to get more involved in this league as it seems there are a bunch of cool guys.
Adios

My name is Bill I am 30 years old and live in New Jersey. I am marriesd with 2 sons (20 months, and 3 weeks old) I am a Chemistry professor at a community college here in New Jersey although both me and my wife are from the midwest. I joined up with the JFL (different gamertag) back in the 2k5 days but haven't ever really gotten involved in Madden until this year. I've tried to like Madden in yesrs past but just haven't been able to. This year seems different though as they finally developed leagues and went back to a more realistic game speed.

It's nice that most of us are a little older. Seems like most "kids" that I play in other leagues with get distracted by other games, like Halo, COD and then lose interest in madden.

Hey fellas, just joined the other league for 360 on this site. Was just wondering who I should talk to about joining this league. Or if there are any openings at all, I have been playing madden for a while and am a pretty good player. Just looking to play in a few quality leagues to get my fix because I cant stand playing ranked matches/cheese matches anymore. 31 yrs old, and very responsible about getting games played and getting back to everyone who contacts me. I play sim style and dont cheese, or run the same plays over and over. Any feedback would be appreaciated. Thanks
Alright now I am official. Just joined as the Raiders, looking forward to playing some tough comp this year. Rumors are flying around, word out of Oakland is that Al has finally brought in another GM to help him with player personell decisions. Be on the lookout for some big moves in Oakland in the coming weeks. Nnamdi Asoumugha was asked what he thought of Al and his decision to finally bring in some front office help. "Well its about time, I mean I love Al Davis. But there is nothing wrong with bringing in help, he has a great feel for the game. But its been tough here since Gruden and Allen left. This new GM has a plan in place from everything I know about him. But the one thing I love is that he is known for bringing accountability to all the teams he has been involved with."
Sources close to the Raiders are telling us that Mr. Davis has given his new GM plenty of wiggle room. One thing is for sure, this guy has a reputation for cutting all dead weight. Any player currently on the Oakland Raiders roster better be ready to show up and play, or they may find themselves out of a job.
