VNFL Week 4 Recap(1st Season)

Just finished playing Dominator and it ended in a lopsided score of 38-6. Was much closer than the score would indicate and after two scoring drives on the first 2 possessions I was shut down offensively. Luckily DeAngelo Hall had a pick 6 to get the first half score to 17-0. Bucs couldn't get much offense going and had some bad breaks getting stopped on short 3rd down opportunities.

Seattle tore it up at the start this time beginning when Nate Burleson returned the opening kick all the way to the Indy 4, allowing for a TD run on the next play. On the first play of the Colts next drive, Marsahwn Lynch was stripped of the ball and Seattle recovered to later score a FG.

It was 17-0 when the Colts scored 10 in the 2nd quarter and eventually it would be 20-10 Seattle at the half. Indy would threaten many times, but Seattle would either score right back or find a way to shut the Colts offense down as Peyton Manning was picked off three times - twice in the end zone - and Seattle would survive to improve to 2-2 on the season.


Notes:

Andre Johnson had 6 rec for 46 Yds and a TD in his Seahawks debut.

2nd year Seattle RB Justin Forsett had only 49 Yds on 16 carries but scored 3 TD's in the game.

Peyton Manning went 17-37 with 277 Yds, 2 TDs, and 3 INTs as the Seahawks pass D had a good game.

T.J. Houshandzadeh did well for the Colts in his debut w/ 4 rec and 81 Yds.

Cowboys @ Broncos

Denver got it going early with Knowshon breaking a 60 yard TD run on Denver's first play from scrimmage. They would not look back as the Broncos beat the Cowboys 41-14. Few mistakes were made by the Broncos, one being Orton's INT which was returned for a TD. Denver's D held tough, allowing only 20 rushing yards.

Nice recap Florida. My D could only hold you at 17 so long. Offense struggled on 3rd down. Larry Johnson is a beasst. Now i see why the Lions struggled. And he was working with a worse D than mine lol

The drama started before the kickoff of this game as the Colts sent newly acquired Andre Johnson and Louis Delmas to Seattle for WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, SS Deon Grant, and CB Ken Lucas. Lucas, Grant and Houshmandzadeh will be starters for the Colts.

The Colts have struggled this season to find a way to pull out a win. They have been extremely competitive and watching there games is enough to put a fan into cardiac arrest. This game was no different. The Seahawks took the opening kickoff 95 yards to the Colts 5 yard line. Rookie running back Justin Forsett scored on a 5 yard touchdown run, he would add two more TD's giving him three on the day. Marshawn Lynch would fumble on the first play from scrimmage for the Colts. Seattle would score a field goal and the Colts would trail 10-0. Peyton Manning and the Colts would engineer a long drive however Manning would throw an interception in the endzone. Seattle used this Colts turnover to score making it 17-0. Peyton Manning led the Colts to a scoring drive throwing a 6 yard touchdown pass and making the score 17-7 Seattle. The two teams would exchange field goals and Seattle would lead 20-10. The only scoring in the third quarter came on a 55 yard interception return for a touchdown by newly acquired Ken Lucas making the score 20-17. Seattle would score again making it 27-17. The Colts wouldnt give up with Peyton Manning finding Michael Jenkins for a 38 yard touchdown pass making the score 27-24. Seattle would score another touchdown and Indianapolis would add a safety. It was a hard fought game and Seattle leaves Lucas Oil Stadium with a much deserved win.

Notes: Indianapolis' receivers had a solid game: Michael Jenkins (4 receptions, 84yards, 1 TD) T.J.Houshmandzadeh (4 receptions 81 yards) Anthony Gonzalez (3 receptions 80 yards) Marshawn Lynch had 17 rushes for 60 yards. Peyton Manning struggled against a tough Seattle defense: 17 for 37 277 yards 2 TD's and 3 interceptions.

Wow, my first televised game and I blew it! As I told him, the third quarter was an embarrassment. I became an arena league team with a bunch of tight ends in the spread formation. If I would have kept my cool I could have at least made him sweat till the end. And without a doubt he baited me into every one of my four picks, an outstanding job on defense. There will be a round two though, I feel a playoff rematch in the making. And I will make sure I remember to play my brand of football! Congrats though Pats, Your a legit 4-0.

LIONS WIN!!! LIONS WIN!!! LIONS WIN!!!

For the first time in 20 games the Detriot Lions have a victory!!! It was a great game between the Bears and Lions...The Lions jumped out to an early lead after Cutlers 1st pass was broken up by new Lion Bob Sanders and intercepted by Anthony Herny...The Lions drove down and got a field goal to take a 3-0 lead a lead they would never give back...After a couple of touchdown passes to Calvin Johnson it was 17-0...On that kick off Devin Hester said enough and returned it 101yrds to make in 17-7...The Bears would try and score again before half but we picked at the goalline by Bob Sanders and didnt score again till late in the 4th when Matt Forte caught a 3yrd TD pass just after the 2min warning but by then the game was pretty much sealed as the Lions just ran out the clock...The defense of the Lions is what won the game with 6 sacks and 2 picks...New Lion Robert Mathis had 3 sacks and a fumble recovery in his Lions debut..New Lions Freddie Keiaho(5 tackles 1 for a loss) and Marlin Jackson(2 tackles 1 forced fumble) also played a big role in the defense improvement...Coach Michael1807 had a much diff offensive approach this game mixing up more between run and pass no that he wasnt alwasy playing from behind with 20 rushing attempts to match 22 passing attempts...Look for the Lions to build from this big division win and try to continue it next week!!!

Browns triumph over Bengals 28-6.

The Bengals came into Cleveland Stadium to try and reverse their misfortunes but a staunch Brown's defense is able to preserve a victory in the second half. The Brown's were able to win the game by controlling the clock and making key passes when they needed to. The 4th quarter was dominated by a Brown's drive that started at the end of the 3rd quarter and sapped 10:21 off the clock.

Key Stats:

- At one point Carson Palmer was 12/12 on the game. He finished 17/25 and only 159 yards.

- The Browns didn't allow one point in the second half or let the Bengals cross the 50 yard line.

- Brady Quinn was 9/11 with 1 TD and 1 INT. The INT a result of getting hit while throwing. A very strong performance.

- The Browns had 126 rushing yards compared to the Bengals 10.

- The Browns had a possession time of 25:13 while the Bengals could only muster 14:47.

Yeah good game man. The Browns just took it to the Bengals. Very demoralizing. Looking like a very depressing year. I couldn't run. I'm usually confident about the passing game but I threw a pick 6 in the third quarter and whatever slim chance of hope I had was over at that point. My run Defense was deplorable. The Browns did what they wanted on both sides of the ball pretty much unchallenged. Again, good game man.

Bills 17 - Dolphins 13

The Bills managed to squeak out a win over the division Dolphins.Miami went on the board first, but Buffalo went up with a wide open pass to Norwood for 54 yard TD. Miami managed to execute their Wildcat with R.Brown running the ball and Pennington throwing great passes on and off the PA but didnt get their first TD until late in the 2nd on a T.O Pass.

They held Buffalo the almost nothing with their blitz and run defense keeping the run game stuffed and the pass game very short. After the half Bills owner/coach told his defense they needed to step it up if they were going to win this game, which they did, holding Miami to only 3 points and forcing an INT. Buffalo would get a break with Wayne over the middle who would be stopped at the 4, and could not get it into the zone after 3 an out, and would be called for 2 holding penalties BACK to BACK making a short FG into 43 yarder.

The game winner would come on a last chance drive with Mcintyre getting in for the game winning TD. GG!

Packers Win. 27-11 with Aaron Rodgers throwing for 246 yards with 3 touchdowns. Vikings used Tarvaris Jackson and Adrian Peterson all game and still got beat. Vikings had one FG in the first half and scored with 3 minutes to go in the game. Good luck to Tarvaris and Peterson the rest of the season.......
