With healthcare in the news this entire summer and early fall, my gf and I watched this movie last week and I must say, it really pissed me off to see how good other countries treat their people. Anyone else see it? What are your thoughts.

Made me want to move to France....it also makes sense as to why we are taught to hate the French. As far as the movie goes, pretty sickening even if it is extreme.

My Devil masters will not let me watch this movie. ;)

We had signs up in my building to not let a fat man in a baseball hat into the facility while he was filming this, lol.

I gotta check it out though. FYI, if you install TVersity, it's on there for free to stream to your PS3.

LOL @ Haze working for "the man"...haha. I know it was a bit extreme but the fact that everyone in the UK, Canada, France, & Cuba can go to any hospital for free but we cant when we live in the supposed greatest country in the world is a very frustrating.

I'm in a health economics class...here's some statistics.

Healthcare makes up 17% of our GDP. That is the highest percentage of GDP of any country in the world (Canada 10%, UK 11%, Germany 8%). Which means we spend the most on healthcare of any country.

The United States is 42nd of 191 in life expectancy.

The United States is 37th of 191 in healthcare quality (according to a 2003 WHO report).

Americans on average only pay 12% of their health care expenses.

Furthermore, I have also learned that the majority of surgeries and prescriptions are based on anecdotal evidence and not scientific research. In order for prescriptions to be allowed on the market in the US, they have to beat a placebo, and that's it. Any doctor can start a surgery, and they tell their buddies in the field who do the surgery because they believe it works, and ultimately gets wrote in medical books. However, 30 years later, people do scientific experiments and find out the surgeries are worthless and/or harmful.

i think republicans are just worried that if the government takes over healthcare then like 45% percent( not sure of the number but its close to that.) of private owned business income is Gone. and they will now control that. they are then saying that we will lose the freedom of life and liberty. idk. Rush Limbaugh said it on jay leno idk if any of you guys saw it. i friggin hate rush limbaugh BTW. "Voice for the GOP" now im pissed off talk amongst yourselves. Topic: Rhode Island...... Neither a "Rhode" Nor an Island.
DISCUSS.

Both sides are idiots

yes i agree. i just think we should be taken care of better. instead of it being a business it should be about taking care of people. like in that movie they asked the people in france what their biggest expense is. they replied with Vegetables, Vacations. WHAAAT? You would think the average Professional has Financial Aid. Government pays for everything. Childcare is paid for. when asked US senators said that if we did this it would put us into financial debt. WHERE DO THEY THINK WE ARE NOW?! to be honest i dont know what it takes to make this all work but i would love it if someone could explain universal Health Care as i believe it is called. Enlighten me. id love to learn something on PP.com.

and also this movie just kind of glorifies the whole UHC plan. what are down falls of this?

Im not even asking for childcare, LOL, lets just get people healthy.

Yes, both sides are idiots but goddamn, doing nothing is worst. There are industrial nations that have implemented national healthcare, its not like its an experiment. If someone or some country does something better than you, STEAL IT. It works in corp america, it will work in government.
