Week 9 Recaps Go Here...

Seahawks 41
Lions 31

Leading up to the game you knew this was going to be a good old fashioned shootout. With the top two quarterbacks in passing yardage and two premier receivers each facing off against each other, this game was going to be a barn burner at its finest.

The Lions got the ball to start and put together a solid drive that led to a field goal (The presence of LenDale White was instantly apparent and Seattle's D knew they would have to step up against the pass and run if they wanted to be successful). After going down by three, the Seahawk's offense responded on their first time out by capping off a long drive with a 5-yd TD run by Lawrence Maroney.

Late in the second quarter, with Seattle down 10-7, Andre Johnson took a pass 51 yards for a touchdown with 2:25 left in the half. The Lions responded by immediately running the same exact play and hooked up with Calvin Johnson on the same exact route for a 71-yd TD. (I had to laugh at that myself Michael. That was nice.)

However, what happened next would ultimately determine the outcome of the game. With 1:26 left in the half, Seattle was gunning for another quick score. Andre Johnson was left in single coverage with no safety help and immediately left his man in the dust. Hasselbeck made the read and threw a soft touch pass that AJ took 66 yards for the score. With :11 to go and the Lions approaching Field Goal range, Stafford hooked up with a LenDale White in the flats and he was set to get about 8 or 9 yards. It was here that CB Marcus Trufant absolutely lights him up and forces him to fumble the ball. MLB David Hawthorne took it 71 yards for another Seattle TD and put his team up 28-14 to end the half.

Seattle got the ball to start the 2nd half and scored again to make it 35-14. Detroit would battle back and make it interesting, and I'll admit that I got pretty conservative (Seattle put together some long drives which only led to converting 2 out of 3 FG attempts). The Lions flexed some of their offensive muscle here when Stafford hooked up with Calvin Johnson about 100 times and got it as close as 38-31. It was simply too little too late though as another Seattle field goal with :39 left sealed the deal.

Stats:

[Seattle]
Matt Hasselbeck: 18-25, 307 yds, 3 TD, 1 INT
Lawrence Maroney: 14 car, 36 yds, 1 TD
Andre Johnson: 5 rec, 149 yds, 2 TD

[Detroit]
Matthew Stafford: 23-38, 413 yds, 3 TD, 3 INT
LenDale White: 13 car, 55 yds, 1 TD
Calvin Johnson: 13 rec, 240 yds, 2 TD

LOL yea that was my "anything u can do, i can do better" moment :)

Good recap...i couldnt recap it last night cause i was too pissed at Lendale White for that fumble before the half, that put me in such a deep hole i couldnt recover no matter how many passes i threw to Calvin lol

Game Recap courtesy of the Indianapolis Star

Colts 52
Texans 45

Indianapolis, IN The Indianapolis Colts were looking to rebound from their heart breaking defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, however they were facing an explosive Texans squad so the task would be difficult. The game started out well for the Colts scoring on their first drive of the game on a 4 yard Marshawn Lynch touchdown run. The Texans bounced right back scoring on an excellent 52 yard touchdown run by Steve Slaton, making the score Texans 7 Colts 7. Peyton Manning would lead the Colts down the field only to be intercepted in the endzone by Phillip Buchanon, he would return it 100 yards for a Texans touchdown and a 14-7 lead. The Colts would score on the kickoff thanks to T.J. Rushings 100 yard kickoff return squaring up the score at 14-14. The Texans would take the lead on a 47 yard Kris Brown field goal. Indianapolis would score next on a 13 yard Marshawn Lynch touchdown run making the score 21-17 Colts. However as the Texans had done all game they answered right back with an 11 yard Steve Slaton touchdown run and would lead 24-21 at the half. In the third quarter the Colts would tie the score at 24-24 on a 26 yard Adam Vinatieri field goal. The Colts would then take the lead 31-24 on a 22 yard Kevin Smith touchdown run. The fourth quarter would see some wild plays and a ton of scoring beginning with the Texans David Anderson's 18 yard touchdown reception from Matt Schaub making the score 31-31. The Colts would answer back with a 29 yard touchdown reception by Marshawn Lynch from Peyton Manning to take the lead 38-31. The next few minutes would be dominated by the Texans scoring on a 9 yard Cedric Peerman touchdown reception from Matt Schaub, and DeMeco Ryans 46 yard interception return for a touchdown giving the Texans a 45-38 lead. The Colts would score with 22 seconds remaining in the game on a 16 yard Mark Bradley touchdown reception from Peyton Manning evening the game at 45-45. Nickleback Ken Lucas, who was forced into a starting position due to the loss of Kelvin Hayden, who fractured his toe during this game and will miss 12 weeks, intercepted Matt Schaub and returned it 41 yards for a Colts touchdown giving them the 52-45 victory. This was an extremely competitive game which falls into the its a shame someone had to lose category. The Colts were definately lucky to survive this game improving their record to 2-6 and gaining their first victory of the season at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Bengals 28
Ravens 21

Well, I was hoping the Bengals would get their first sometime soon, not against me though! First off, lag was definetly an issue. I need to figure out my router i think. I didn't go for any field goals longer than 30 yards cause I could time the lag right. But I can't blame the loss on that, I didn't realize how much I would miss Ed Reed in the secondary. Pool doesn't cover the middle like Reed used to. Chris Henry owned the middle of the field, and surprisingly he had a good run game with Scott, was much less predictable this time around. He was very smart with his passes, no pick sixes this time! Anyway, good game Bengals, glad you got that first W. Good Luck in the future.:)

I have been a dominate defensive team since the Reed/Poole trade. Thanks again, haha.

Ya, we play next, and there have been reports of a bounty on Reeds head. League is investigating. (Watch for Flacco blocking in the open field! lol)

Packers @ Buccaneers -- 52-31

Packers beat the Buccaneers after a long offensive battle. Dominator ran the ball very successfully throughout the first half running for over 140 yards between Freeman and Graham. Even though no touchdowns were to those two, he did get a rushing touchdown with Williams. Going into halftime, the Packers lead the way 21-17 after a fumble recovered by Raji (DE) was returned after an amazing lateral to Collins. (Replay will be posted once I figure out how to do so.) Midway through the 3rd quarter, Dominator's hard drive went capoot after scoring a touchdown to go up 24-21. The Packers dominated the rest of the game scoring 24 points in the 4th quarter to steal the victory.

STATS:

[Packers]

Matt Ryan -- 214 yards, 4 TDS, 1 INT, 17/26
Ryan Grant -- 10 attempts, 2 receptions, 68 yards overall, 1 TD
Darren Sproles -- 4 attempts, 2 receptions, 38 yards overall, 1 TD
Jerricho Cotchery -- 5 receptions, 113 yards, 1 TD
James Jones -- 4 receptions, 31 yards, 2 TDs
B.J. Raji -- 3 tackles, 1 sack, 1 force fumble
Nick Collins -- 5 tackles, 1 TD

[Buccaneers]

Josh Freeman -- 284 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, 18/28, 71 rushing yards
Earnest Graham -- 14 attempts for 70 yards
Carnell Williams -- 6 receptions for 128 yards

Doplphins 21 Patriots 27

This was a very one sided game despite what the score says. He was able to put up some points at the with Brian Griese who looks to start next week vs the 5-3 Buccaneers. The score was 27- 7 in the 4th quarter with 2 minutes left. He had some serious quarterback issues. with no chad pennington, he had to rely on a young inexperienced Chad Henne. Who made a lot of poor throws to open recievers. Check out the play right before half time. Takes a nice hit and it floats up to Mayo for 6. Brian Griese was able to come in at the end and end the game on a high note. GG general slade.. cant wait for our rematch in week 13 at miami. could be a fight for the AFC title. GG

Falcons begin to hit their stride with a 35-21 victory over the Redskins

The story of this game (as I told floridagatorfan) were the two T's... Turnovers and Turner. Michael Turner seemed to be the only player on the field who could do anything offensively, absolutely carrying his team in the second half of the game. Without an answer for Turner, who was picking up roughly 6 yards a clip in the second half, the Falcons offense stayed grounded, quite literally. A solid dose of dives, off tackles runs, and tosses kept the Redskins D off guard and kept the ball out of Matt Ryan's hands, who looked shaky.

FloridaGatorFan, your defense is NUTS. So hard for me to pass on, I'm just lucky the run got going. That, and the huge fumble return and the 3 picks. I think that fumble recovery and return really swung an even game in my favor. I had Roddy White back from injury this game and could barely use him.

Yeah, hopefully I can win in a rematch. Very frustrating they I couldn't stop that sweep and that I threw the picks early in the game. Second straight game where I feel I have had a couple of bad breaks and that fumble and return was a big swing.

Overall was a good game and I will definitely need to upgrade some of my defensive players in the draft.

Great game...My blood pressure is too high for a recap as Bernard Effin Berrian drops a HUGE 3rd down pass that would've sealed the win or at least kept the clock running. 9ers played awesome and Titans come up short. Im so heated right now and it has nothing to do with the 9ers. He played a great game but that drop will irk me for a long time. The loss doesn't really hurt that bad as I'm now 6-2 and that was an NFC opponent and all i care about is my division & conference but damn Bernard Berrian...Like Keyshawn.."Come on MAN!"

yeah..it was a great game...Back and forth with big plays. You win some and you lose some. It would be a hole in my wall if that was the playoffs though. Im thinking about putting Berrian on the market after that drop....seriously..there was no reason he shouldve dropped that..especially when I was holding Y for catch and RB for protect ball

Ces't La Madden though

Thanks man. I know the lag was a factor. I will take them as I can get them. lol I've adapted a lil. I love to pass.........but ummm yeah I've put a lil time in and gotten enough beat downs to realize I had to change up some things. I also took some nuggets from each loss to try and implement in my scheme........including our first game. lol For that..I say thanks. Good luck the rest of the way man. At least I won't be a replay of the actual Lions from 2008 in this league. Just glad to be off the snide.
