In more specifics I'm leaning towards All-American, 6 minute quarters. However I'm open to going with Heisman difficulty if that is preferred.

Most of the leagues I have been in have never really worked out. Usually due to bad communication between everyone in the league. PastaPadre you seem like a person who's good at organizing this type of stuff.

You know what would be revoluationary would be for EA to go ahead and integrate all it's liscencing power so we could have SportsCenter, CollegeGameDay, NFL Network, PTI segments actually in the game. I remember when ESPN 2K5 had a weekly Sportscenter...that's still one of the best production wise...if we could combine that innovation with Maddens gameplay..Wow...the streets would be EMPTY...:D

I remember having a franchise mode in the dorm with a few friends. Cuz I owned the ps2 we were using I would "practice" the draft (we'd import players from NCAA) starting around week 8 (sim to end of season). I would trade picks and players for hours and hours.

The sad thing for me is that I'm the only one who really follows sports. None of my friends get into this kind of stuff.

A couple other quick ideas of mine...

-Have dynasty owner profiles. Even if they're just a short paragraph describing each person.

-I can highlight the "game of the week" and post up a recap just on that with videos/screens provided by that user.

-Video highlight contests within the league for who has the best one each week.

Yep I'm hoping with this setup I won't have to do a lot of the time consuming behind the scenes stuff. So I can concentrate on doing the recaps for the site and other features. With being able to have much of the year played against the CPU, being able to sim ahead or replace guys if necessary, that takes a lot of stress off. If it was just a standard league I wouldn't have the time or energy to do that.

I'm already feeling bad about having to select only a handful of people out of the huge response I've gotten. I hope some will come together with their own dynasties and use the forum for that if they wish. I can always do small recaps on those too if they're going well.

As for my team based on where everyone else falls I'm leaning towards my usual suspects: Washington, Wake Forest, and Oklahoma State.

I am a new member to the site, but would love to join your dynasty. I heard about your site from my current lg. NFLFans. I have been apart of NFLFANS since season 3. And we are now in our 15 season which has span over Madden 07, 08, and we are now gearing up for 09. I believe Xtremedunkz and A Jay Jay (who has also requested to join) are members here from our lg as well. If there is any room for an avid Madden and NCAA player who is gaurenteed to stick around for as long as this thing will last, you can find him here. Also I dont know if you run your own madden lg, but we have 2 spots open for 09, which we will be having a lottery podcast selection coming in august (similar to nba, lottery pre to draft). If thats is something you are interested in I am sure our guys would love to have you. I believe all current 29-30guys have been involved in a minimum of 3 season with us.

If I get in I would like to play with Illinois or Alabama but will take any team if it is needed to keep parity.

I like that idea, with each user having a separate page or recap. Would be a way to make the dynasty come alive for each member, plus i think it would be interesting to read two different takes on a user vs user game.

It seems to me there are a lot of people here who like to do recaps. This could be good if there end up being multiple dynasties so each one could at least have one person who's good at doing recaps.

Its a no win situation whatever you decide. YOu had (by my estimates) about 120 people post about interest, and you get to pick 11. I guess thats good and bad, good that it generated so much interest and if someone drops you have replacements aplenty, but bad that you have to choose a small amount of people.

What are the house rules? Punt block is broken obviously, i play a sim style game (never played online, so im sure ill get dominated), but just want to make sure im not violating any unwritten rules

Is there something we need to regulate? I feel like the group we have isn't going to exploit anything. Since we only have 1-2 user games I don't really feel like we need to. All the online games I've played so far have been pretty balanced, competitive, and fun. That's without any unwritten rules being placed on them.

Ok, like i said, ive never played online (With next gen). I know in single player, the punt block formation is a guaranteed 30 yards, but i dont use that (unless im honestly trying to block a punt in the 4th or something).

Any ideas on sliders/penalties?

I've had a great experience with online games so far. Tons of great moments like the first time I threw a touchdown after faking a field goal and scoring on a 60 yard hailmary being down 3 points with 5 seconds left in the game.

I just played the first game against an FCS team, won 49-0.

I don't know about the other guys playing FCS schools, but I tried to keep it as realistic as possible. Only scored twice in the final two quarters I believe.

I just kept the play clock running until I had one second left and just went for first downs, I think anyone playing FCS should try to do the same. It's amazing how easy it is against them.

Just won a thriller. I was up comfortably (at least I thought so) 24-6 going into the 4th. Then WSU went on to score three TDs which included two onside kicks they recovered. I was forced to drive down the field with under a minute remaining, was able to get in FG range, and nailed an iced kick through the uprights. 27-25 final. Beau Johnson carried the team, he had over 100 yards rushing in the first half and two TDs.

OK so I played my game a little while ago at about 10 and I did my 10 hours of recruiting.
I log back in to check it out and stuff and at the main page where you can check everyone's status and stuff it says I am ready to advance but if I go to my recruiting section it says I still have 10 hours left and I can play my game again.

Any clue why this is happening? Am I good or do I have to re-do it?

I'm guessing that our dynasty is screwed. I still can't get in and when I view the settings from the outside it says its Heisman and 4 minute quarters. After how cool the feature was if it ends like this it'll be such a damn disappointment.

There is a thread over at operationsports (sorry, no link) that is discussing this. Where teams will play a game and win, lets say 30-0, and when you advance weeks, it shows something like the won 21-10 or sometimes it will change results. There have been people who have said they get a different batch of recruits and other various nonsense.

Can anyone get into our dynasty? I was all pumped, i just got all my stuff done yesterday, and was looking forward to going home tonight and starting my IU rebuilding project.

Hoping someone from EA puts out a press release of sorts on this, maybe its fixed in patch? Ideas? Thoughts? Plan?

The most aggravating thing, is this was the feature of the year, like offenseive playmaker years ago, and defensive playmaker, branching animations last year etc. This was supposed to be what they worked all year on and i dont have an exact quote or link, but im 99% sure one of the EA guys said that dynasty/franchise wasnt updated much since the majority of their resources went into the online component. And now this fails.

Ive been trying to support EA, and give them the benefit of the doubt, but this has to change. I would be perfectly happy if for 2010 they just fixed the issues and got us a perfect game with no new stuff.

Probably not. I believe some people will still be able to log into the dynasty, but it won't look right (wrong members possibly).

Hey pasta is there a way you can convert your OD into an offline dynasty, and keep that up as a back up. I know you can only commish one league but if someone is keeping a regular back up that person can convert it back and send out invites.

Okay so the story is that on the server side they found some rogue files in our dynasty locker. That to me sounds like what I had suggested earlier, some sort of unnatural merging. They removed the files and our dynasty is back! I think everything looks up to date too so far from what I've seen. Let me know if anything is off.

This is basically a test case. A temporary solution obviously, as they still need to get the permanent fix so it doesn't continue happening. But we'll see how it goes from here.
