it seems to be going up and down. I was able to see an announcement from a guy called DanSG saying that the server switch would officially be done on Monday, but the forums would be put up today and tomorrow so people can talk about the Madden release. Any posts made during that time would be deleted come Monday.

I don't think any of the guys that started the site started it with the intention of making money out of it.

You look at MN before the merger and it was a great place, it wasn't too big, but damn near every active poster was a GOOD poster that brought something to the site.

Now, you have to recycle through all the bullshit to find even a shred of evidence that MN even existed, and that's sad.

You look at a site like MM that denied SG to buy them out and they're better than ever. I enjoy posting there more than SG because it still has that feel that MN had.

Pasta's site is definitely going to benefit from the current SG downfall.

I've been going there for three years, it's still enjoyable, but not what MN was. I don't think I will ever find a better community then MN was. From my understanding CNet is setting up new servers to move SG to. None of the post counts will be lost. On Friday I heard that the site would be back up and running today. They took it offline since the damn thing wasn't loading anyways. It wouldn't surprise me though if the site wasn't up and running today.

BTW, i know some of you IMed me. The BNL is still happening. And to the guys who keep IMing me about a fantasy football league, I'm not running one. Last I heard Bates was running the fantasy league, not sure if he still is or not. You'll have to ask him.

The "move" is definitely Cnet's fault and nobody elses at this point. Plus as usual there are always issues.

As far as changes, off the bat the goal is to just get the stuff running. Then we will keep the bulk of the forums the same, appearance wise. There is still talks if we want to keep vbulletin or move to a different forum package, but if we did the forums would look and navigate the same and members wouldn't have to re-register or anything like that.

Other extras:
-Profiles (NOt MySG, similar to the GS one)
-Rate games, and post your reviews. It'll be tied into your profile.
-Awards system
-Faster performance

We know that everyone is used to the site now so look and feel wise it'll be the same with extras.

There are other things in store as well coming with the site move. Whats stupid is these people wanted to "move" during the busiest time of year, then just weren't prepared for it. People are going to bitch and moan, and talk shit but that'll happen. Shit happens. not much else to say.

exactly. maybe its because it seems that every madden release the site crashes so i'm used it. or the fact that i just basically have lost interest in a lot of stuff but I really don't care that much anymore to be honest lol. The site will be back up and people will visit or they won't visit. I'm not going to kiss ass for people to visit. Its when shit like this happens who you know who the "real" people are. and trust me i've been through it so many times now that i know who the real people are. this thread is a perfect example. a lot of members come and go, its the guys who i've known the past 4-5 years from the MM days that I know I'll still be cool with no matter what happens.

Also, I find it funny that some people are bashing SG when they still log on every day. If it is really so bad, why even go on? Sure I enjoyed MN better then SG, and I'm sure Fred and everyone else would agree with that. But SG is still a tremendous community, you can't get around that. If I didn't find it to be enjoyable I wouldn't be on that site anymore. But on that site I have met some really cool guys like Charger, E, Pasta, Terror, and many more. I never stook around because of the improved info, I only go to the VG forums around Madden release or for something like the NCAA draft. I stuck around because there was still the "MN bond" between many of the members. All the DM and MA guys aren't there, but 95% of the MN guys are still around. Sure there are a few bad apples, but that is what you get for getting a bigger site. You can never fault RAC for leaving or Fred for joining SG. Why wouldn't you turn down an opprotunity like that and finally make the profit that probably could have been made a lot earlier. BHU made the offer and it sounded like he was serious, it turned out he got tired of it and sold it to CNet. But MN/SG still has the same community, the water cooler is still there, the NFL Chat is still there, all major reasons on why you came and stayed at the site in the first place.

I posted maybe once or twice on SG per day for the past month or so as it just seems different. I'm definitely glad pasta set up forums so that I have some way of keeping in contact with you d00ds and something to keep me occupied, but then theirs MM and this other board I troll quite often. So, getting banned from SG wasn't the worst thing in the world. Getting banned from MN would've been worse.

And I'm happy with the way I went out, not kicking or screaming, just with one sweet, simple .gif that pretty much said everything I wanted to say.
