Team Overview
With the recent hiring of renown football coach Bobby Petrino, the Razorbacks hope to be able to get over the hump in the extremely competitive SEC. With the loss of premiere backs Darren McFadden and Felix Jones, Petrino hopes to be able to incorporate an extremely well balanced offense that will keep opposing defenses guessing every time they match up on the line of scrimmage.
Key Returning Players
Casey Dick

Casey Dick is returning for his final year as a Razorback, and hopes Petrino's pass first offense will lead to his most impressive passing numbers of his college career.
Jonathan Luigs

Luigs Shows Glenn Dorsey a Thing or Two
Jonathan Luigs won the 2007 Remington Trophy for the most outstanding center in college football, and is listed as the 2nd best NFL linemen prospect. Luigs is the cornerstone of what should be an extremely potent Razorback offense.
Up and Comers
Ryan Mallett

The distant memory in the minds of many Lloyd Carr loving Wolverines fans, Mallett hopes to be able to move on from Michigan and eventually fill in for Casey Dick after this year. Mallett may even see some time this year depending on Dick's performance. Will this former prospect of what many critics refer to as THE QB producing school of old be able to show people that he can perform at levels similar to previous historic Wolverine quarterbacks?

Mauling the Hapless
Arkansas Opens the Season with a Blowout Win
98 - 6
There were no surprises in this opening game for the Hogs, unless you consider the level of blowout that was seen in this game. There was really nothing that Western Illinois could take away from this game other than that they have a long way to go before they can consider themselves the next Appalachian State.
While Casey Dick had 5 completions from 6 attempts for 147 yards and 3 touchdowns, the real story in the hogs offense was its run game. De'Anthony Curtis had 284 yards on 28 rushes with 5 touchdowns. Michael Smith had 90 yards on 7 rushes and 2 touchdowns. Nothing will be able to stop the Hogs if this potent run offense holds up.
The Hogs defense was also a high point, with 2 touchdowns off of 4 interceptions. The special teams had both a punt and kickoff returned for touchdowns.
While this game was a mere warm-up for the upcoming challenges at hand for the Hogs, it was good to see them get off to a great start. Hogs fans look forward to see what Arkansas can do against UL Monroe on 9/6.

Even In Victory, Hogs Experience Disappointing Loss
Arkansas Wins, but Stud HB Curtis Out 9 Weeks
45 - 7
The Razorbacks yet again showed their offensive prowess that new Coach Petrino was expected to bring. The hogs ran up the score once again, although not to the same level they had against Western Illinois, with 348 total yards offense.
Casey Dick went 10 for 16 for 96 yards and a TD. Michael Smith had 235 yards on 29 rushes and reached the end zone 4 times.
While it may seem like everything went extremely well for Arkansas, they were not able to go more than 3 plays into the game without a stunning injury: De'Anthony Curtis went down on his second rush of the day with a dislocated elbow. He is expected to be out for nine weeks. One can only hope that Smith will be able to maintain his numbers until Curtis returns towards the end of the season.
After two games against mediocre teams and the loss of it's stud running back, the hogs hope they can look ahead to next week for the big one against #10 Texas. This will be the first true test for the Razorbacks, and what a test it will be! Will Smith and Dick be able to rise to the occasion and upset the 10th ranked team in the nation?
We here at "The Hog" think so, with our in-house bookie having Arkansas as a 1 point favorite. The odd thing about this spread is that the same bookie also has the 3rd quarter score with Texas as a 20 POINT favorite. If you're a gambling man I'd be betting against the spread on both those wagers!

Stunning 4th Quarter Comeback Sparks Razorback Upset
Norton's 106 yd Interception Sparks Turnaround
21 - 20
What seemed like a game that was over even before halftime turned out to be a thrilling 4th quarter comeback to solidify one of the first upsets of this college football season. Traveling to Austin to face the #10 ranked Texas, the Razorbacks hoped to be able to slug it out with the Horns and hope to pull off a shocker in the end. Arkansas figured they would forget out the slugging aspect of the game plan, but still try to keep their promise of a stunning upset by scoring 21 points in the 4th quarter to come back from a 20 point deficit.
The first three quarters were marked by disappointing drives almost every time the Hogs touched the ball. Casey Dick seemed to collapse under pressure whenever they would reach scoring range, throwing 2 interceptions inside the 30 yd line. Dick was able to punch it in from the 1 yard line to make it a 2 score game with roughly half a quarter to go.
The Horns looked to quickly evaporate any chances Arkansas had in coming back by quickly marching down to the Hogs own 10 yard line. Right when it seemed the game was over, the unthinkable happened. Norton picked off McCoy's pass deep in the end zone and ran it back 106 yards for the touchdown, capping it all off with a nonchalant point to the Longhorn crowd. This 14 point turn around was exactly what the Razorbacks needed.
The very next possession McCoy threw yet another interception, giving the Razorbacks hope. Casey Dick created a brilliant drive, highlighted by short quick passes and ultimately capped off by a thrilling 38 yd reception by Smith.
Smith had 147 combined yards, but none were more important than those when he caught Dick's pass in the flat. Quickly met by the CB, Smith was barely able to pull off the spin move to break away and cap off the run with a dive into the end zone.
McCoy threw one final interception to allow Dick to finish off the game with a series of knees. This victory puts Arkansas right on the map for top 25 contention. If they are not ranked after this week, they most certainly will after meeting Alabama next week.

Joy in living comes from having fine emotions, trusting them, giving them the freedom of
a bird in the open. Joy in living can never WOW Power Leveling (http://www.wow-powerlevel.net/)be assumed as a pose, or put on from the outside
as a mask. People who have this joy don not need to talk about it; they radiate it. They just live out their joy and let it splash its sunlight and glow into other lives as electric fireplace (http://www.zjainuo.com/) naturally as bird sings. We can never get it by working for it directly. It comes, like happiness, to those
who are aiming at something higher. It is a byproduct of great, simple living. The joy of living from what we put into living, not from what we seek to get from it.
