UFC Goes to EA Sports
A huge announcement out of the EA press conference as the company has secured the license for UFC which had been with THQ. The deal there was scheduled to run through 2018 but the troubles with the company financially - and their inability to grow the franchise - led them to (as now is known) sell the license to EA with UFC's approval. This despite Dana White's statements in the past that he would never work with EA. EA Sports MMA was a good first effort with some fantastic online feature...

Connected Careers for Madden NFL 13
The reveal of NHL 13's GM Connected mode did in fact largely spoil that of Connected Careers for Madden NFL 13. The mode essentially combines standard Franchise, Online Franchise, and Superstar Modes into a single initiative with the user choosing to be a player, control a team in a traditional manner or as a coach, and even integrates legends as an option to choose from to run through a career with. Microsoft Shows Madden NFL 13 in Demonstration of Xbox SmartGlass
One big new feature announced by Microsoft today is Xbox SmartGlass which is an app that turns a smartphone or tablet into a second screen to communicate with the Xbox 360. Essentially it's what the Wii U is doing with a dedicated controller however Microsoft is taking advantage of devices that far more people have available to them already. NBA 2K13 Footage Coming Next Week
2K Sports has announced that the first gameplay footage from NBA 2K13 will debut Monday night during the GameTrailers E3 Special on Spike at 10pm. E3 2011 Recap
This turned out to be a somewhat curious year for sports games at E3 as a whole. While there were a bunch that had a presence they were held in more restricted fashion than in the past. Madden was of course very prominent but outside of that the majority were held for behind-closed-doors showings only. That has resulted in Madden NFL 12 picking up some big momentum and the rest of the games seeing much more limited success out of the event. (more...)...

Madden 12 Player Traits Collection
The Facebook page (appreciate it if you'd "like" it while there or in the sidebar!) now contains all 225 images captured while at E3 displaying the new 'Player Traits' in Madden NFL 12 and are sorted by conference and then division and team. Keep in mind these are just preliminary and may change by the time Madden 12 ships. In particular the number of "clutch" players will likely drop especially from any rookies that have it now.
