  • THQ Had Been Losing Money on UFC
    Posted June 8th, 2012 at 5:30 pm 12 Comments »
EA Sports picking up the UFC license from THQ was arguably the single biggest surprise announcement to come out of E3 this year. It's been widely recognized for some time now that THQ as a company is in dire straits and - like Take Two and their handling of sports - they have a desire to get out from under the significant costs inherent in licenses. Still a transfer of the license would have been seen as a long shot particularly considering the disdain shown towards EA in the past by Dana Wh...
  • E3: Third Batch of Madden NFL 13 Videos
    Posted June 8th, 2012 at 1:45 pm 125 Comments »
Here is the third and final batch of Madden NFL 13 gameplay videos captured from the show floor of E3. These specific ones were grabbed within the first few hours of the first day so user play is somewhat behind those that were posted yesterday - it took some time to adjust to the improved defensive play. Still this is more opportunity to check out the Infinity Engine physics in action along with some of the other gameplay improvements. Time permitting the write-up on Connected Careers, w...

Here is the top 25 ranking of teams in NCAA Football 13 as grabbed from the show floor at E3. Defending National Champion Alabama leads the way despite five teams actually being rated higher in the game. The biggest discrepancy comes with Texas who got a 99 overall rating but are only ranked 22nd. The lowest rated team to make the top 25 is West Virginia at 87 overall who are all the way up at #10. • E3: Madden NFL 13 Canton Greats
    Posted June 7th, 2012 at 9:30 am 109 Comments »
There is a surprise bonus team being included in Madden NFL 13 which goes by the name 'Canton Greats'. Coached by a young John Madden on the sideline the team features a mix of legends and current superstars. Home field is Fawcett Stadium (Hall of Fame Field) and they have their own unique uniforms. Because depth charts were inaccessible with the E3 build it's unclear if the starting lineups contain all the legends or if others are present - and whether any more legends obtained (via pre-ord...

  • E3: Madden NFL 13 Day One Thoughts
    Posted June 5th, 2012 at 7:30 pm 108 Comments »
EA Sports made a splash yesterday by announcing the "Infinity Engine" and Connected Careers for Madden NFL 13. The latter really isn't on display at E3 - nor would it really be feasible to play through in such an environment - so the former is getting most of the glory and rightfully so. The physics-driven engine isn't completely changing the way Madden plays but it is definitely enhancing it to a great degree.  (more…)...

  • EA Sports Football Club Features and Access Expand With FIFA 13
    Posted June 5th, 2012 at 8:45 am 2 Comments »
While FIFA 13 had a strong presence at both the Microsoft and EA press conferences it lacked a big splash so it got somewhat overshadowed by Madden's reveals and the news of UFC going to EA Sports. Still there were some announcements made to FIFA that will be relevant to fans. EA Sports Football Club debuted last year and is being expanded upon. An app for Football Club - scheduled for the iPhone and iPod touch - will keep fans connected to the FIFA world. A new rewards program is being i...
  • NBA 2K13 Early Gameplay Footage
    Posted June 5th, 2012 at 7:45 am 124 Comments »
2K Sports last night debuted some early footage from NBA 2K13. Like last year at E3 the showing focuses primarily on a casual aspect of the game -  2K12 was about PlayStation Move controls and this time around it's the Slam Dunk Contest for the recently announced All-Star Weekend content. There is a brief look at actual gameplay though with the Spurs at Thunder before getting a glimpse at the Dunk Contest which many are describing as having "Guitar Hero" controls and for good reason. 2K ...
