The NHL 16 EA Sports Hockey League beta has now been open for a week - and it remains so through tomorrow - providing an unprecedented (for the sports gaming genre) glimpse at the game which isn't due out until mid-September. EASHL was a mode that I found very compelling when it launched in NHL 09, and played heavily that year and a few that followed. However beyond then interest waned as it went largely unchanged and took on a microtransaction slant in the upgrading of player ratings. ...

With the beta for NHL 16 only two days away now, the nine different player types to choose from, plus three styles of goalie, for use in EA Sports Hockey League have now been revealed. Unlike past versions of EASHL, there is no upgrading of players in the mode, as that has been replaced by the concept of various player classes.  (more…)...

The extremely popular EA Sports Hockey League was one of the many features that didn't make the transition from NHL 14 to NHL 15 on the new systems. Those who own NHL 15 however will be able to get an early preview of the mode that will be returning in NHL 16.  (more…)...

A full panel was on hand to discuss the confirmation that there will be no EA Sports Hockey League or GM Connected modes in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version of NHL 15. It's tremendously bad news for the game and some of its most hardcore fans who would never have even contemplated this as a possibility, and the way EA Sports has handled it could have even longer-lasting ramifications to the series than just a single year. The show is now archived to watch for those who couldn't make i...

After a week of speculation as circumstantial evidence continued to mount EA Sports has now finally confirmed that there will be no EA Sports Hockey League or GM Connected modes in the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version of NHL 15. It's another in a long line of major mishaps in recent years by EA - not just about losing the critical features but the way they alienated consumers in the process and damaged a brand.  (more…)...
