The first trailer for the remake of Total Recall has arrived. Directed by Len Wiseman and starring Colin Farrell the film is based on the Philip K. Dick story "We Can Remember it For You Wholesale". I got to see some very early footage of the film as well as some conceptualized scenes play out while at Comic-Con and came away impressed but understandably many will approach the film with some level of skepticism. Total Recall is slated to release on August 3. Total Recall is an action thrill...

  • Your Thoughts on UEFA 2012 as DLC

    Posted March 30th, 2012 at 11:15 am 6 Comments »
Yesterday EA Sports made the official announcement of UEFA EURO 2012. However unlike past releases it will not be a standalone title - instead it arrives on April 24 as $20 downloadable content for FIFA 12. Immediate reaction to the move has seemed generally positive. That appears primarily to be due to the price coming in at $20 as opposed to the $60 it would have been on its own. There's a good chance that consumers who would be interested in UEFA already own FIFA 12 which helps make it...

The MLB season has been underway since early Wednesday morning with the two game series between the Mariners and A's having taken place in Japan. That provides the opportunity to take a look at MLB Today Season mode which was the main feature addition for MLB 2K12. Seemingly, as with most things MLB 2K, it's not actually working as advertised. • Review: Wrath of the Titans

It'd be difficult to approach Wrath of the Titans with a completely open mind. The film it follows, Clash of the Titans, was dull and almost single-handedly began the downfall of 3D in the US. Those low expectations though may actually be an advantage for Wrath. Though flawed it's an entertaining film with some spectacular special effects. Even more surprising - the 3D is worthwhile and enhances the experience.  (more...)...
  • UEFA 2012 Coming In a Matter of Weeks – But Not As a Standalone Title
    by

Given that the UEFA EURO series always releases in spring prior to the official tournament the question of where EA Sports' announcement of the game was considering the late date had arisen. That announcement finally came today and given the news it makes more sense why promotion of the game didn't begin sooner. (more...)...
  • Anchorman 2 is Going to Happen
    by
    Posted March 29th, 2012 at 11:15 am 3 Comments »
In a surprising development Will Ferrell appeared on Conan to announce Anchorman 2. The sequel to the 2004 film is something Ferrell and director Adam McKay had always wanted to do but Paramount wouldn't give the green light to even after significantly reducing the budget they were requesting for the project. Once thought pretty much dead - but now it's happening! All the main characters including those played by Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and David Koechner are expected to return with Ferr...
  • Fan Voting Opens for NHL 13 Cover
    by
    Posted March 29th, 2012 at 10:00 am 8 Comments »
With the success of the cover votes for their other sports titles it comes as little surprise that EA Sports is now spreading a similar initiative to the NHL series. The cover athlete of NHL 13 is being determined by fan voting with the first round already underway. All of the 30 teams have two representatives to start which is similar to how Madden NFL 13 handled it. One player will advance from each team to the round of 30 where things change somewhat. Instead of a tournament bracket th...
