Travis Rice Featured in Latest SSX Trailer
EA Sports has released a new trailer for the upcoming return of SSX - which was recently bumped back to release on February 28th. Travis Rice represents the first real-world snowboarder to be included in the series as a playable character and was in 2010's highly acclaimed documentary The Art of Flight. In this especially effective video he talks over over his strategies on how to survive some of the most treacherous descents on earth as real-life footage is mixed with SSX gameplay footage.Â...
Initial Impressions of NFL Blitz
The last attempt at a pure arcade-style football game came from EA Sports in late 2009 with Madden NFL Arcade. It represented one of the first attempts by a sports developer to release a full-fledged offering digitally through XBLA and PSN. Though quite fun it ultimately didn't extend much beyond just that and thus died off relatively quickly.
With NFL Blitz the company has hoped to resurrect a beloved franchise and provide more significant content to make for an ideal $15 package. They h...
Soundtrack for MLB 12: The Show
Last year MLB 11: The Show had one of the worst soundtracks in memory to be featured within a sports title. Thankfully the series includes the ability to customize the soundtrack with the "My MLB Music" feature. MLB 12: The Show's soundtrack may or may not be better but having that option available at least negates it as a concern going in. Continue on for a look at the 10 songs included (down from 12 last year) in MLB 12: The Show! (more...)...

#1 of 2011: FIFA 12
Joining the elite class of Pastapadre Game of the Year winners is 2011's top entry FIFA 12. Though not without its own issues what it offered was the most well-rounded and fully-featured experience embodying everything one could ask for out of sports title. FIFA 12 also gets credit for taking a chance by introducing new technology and innovating in a time where companies have become more risk-averse than ever. (more...)...
Netflix Launches First Original Series Next Month
2011 was a rough year for Netflix with the company's stock price being cut in half due to numerous blunders and the ups and downs that come with relying on making agreements with content partners.
One way to get around that though is by providing their own original content. Exclusive series such as House of Cards and the return of Arrested Development are coming down the pipeline. The first original series though to hit is Lilyhammer.
All eight episodes of Lilyhammer will be available ...

#2 of 2011 – Tiger Woods 12: The Masters
Last year NBA 2K11 transcended the typical sports game genre by beginning to tap into the rich history of the league and featuring Michael Jordan - resulting in a special feel to the edition of the series. With Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters it was the inclusion of Augusta National, which had never before been featured in a video game, that took the series to new heights. It may only be a one-year bump but Tiger 12 was one of the most compelling sports games of the year possibly even f...
NFL Blitz Now Available
The reboot of NFL Blitz from EA Sports is out now on XBLA and PSN for $15. Blitz features single player "Gauntlet" mode, co-op/online co-op, online "Battles", "Elite League" mode (similar to Ultimate Team), commentary from Tim Kitzrow - and a full quarter of gameplay action can be seen here.
No late hits as mandated by the league and outdated rosters are the big drawbacks to consider as well as aspects such as no left-handed throwing QBs - yes Mike Vick and Tim Tebow are right-handed i...
NFL Blitz Arriving With a Whimper – Lack of NBA Jam Support Partially Responsible
Based on the results of the poll posted last week regarding purchase plans for NFL Blitz - which releases tomorrow on XBLA and PSN for $15 - enthusiasm has dropped considerably since the original announcement of the game. Only 13% plan to buy Blitz and 59% are dead set against it. The remaining chunk is in wait and see mode and may base a decision on the trial version. Considering the only unedited gameplay video generated pure indifference it might be tough to hook those people who are on ...
