Patch In The Works For UFC 2009
May 26, 2009 by pastapadre · Comments

THQ is currently working on a patch for UFC 2009 Undisputed. Given the time it takes to create the patch and get through the certification process we are looking at probably over two weeks and most likely a month or so away. The patch will address the online problem with no result being recorded when people quit and also will work to eliminate some of the lag that has been experienced.
No word yet on what else, if anything, would be included in the patch. Hopefully some of the minor grievances with career mode will be fixed up as well. Given the apparent success and popularity of the title it was inevitable that it would be patched, though how significant and effective it will be remains in question.
MLB 2K9 Patch Now Out
April 4, 2009 by pastapadre · Comments

Last year 2K Sports released a patch for MLB 2K8 that wasn’t especially effective, and at that didn’t even bother to put it out for the PS3. Fortunately this year 2K decided to provide both the 360 and PS3 with a patch that attempts to improve on some of the problem areas in MLB 2K9. It is now out for both systems and the game will prompt you to download it when starting it up.
Areas of focus in the patch include the toning down of CPU batting aggressiveness as well as the frequency of home runs. Fixing of the first baseman glitch, outfield error glitches, and ease of pick-offs at second base are also apparently addressed.
Reaction so far seems to be mixed. That doesn’t surprise me either because there is certainly a feeling of resentment out there for what was initially provided with the release of 2K9. It is difficult to praise a patch after having been mislead on several fronts and with the original game being so egregiously bad.
Leave your thoughts on the patch in the comments. How much has or hasn’t this improved the game? Does it change your perception of 2K9 at all now post-patch?

There are a pretty significant number of fixes and improvements included in the patch. It’ll be interesting to find out how much is seen in regards to online play, especially with the Team-Up mode. Continue on for the full list of what has been addressed.
Update: The patch is already out for the 360.
NCAA Basketball 09 Patch Now Out
November 26, 2008 by pastapadre · Comments

The patch for NCAA Basketball 09 that was originally planned to arrive in early December has made its way out early for both the 360 and PS3. It adds in authentic schedules, the display of named rosters online, and the ability to edit classic teams. It also attempts improvements in the areas of post play and full court press as well as “tightening up” of dynasty mode.
Unfortunately nothing still has been done regarding the public sharing of named roster files through the EA Locker that for all intents and purposes is broken. For the time being, or possibly for good, the only way to get the roster is by adding someone who already has it to your friend’s list.
NBA Live 09 Patch Details
November 20, 2008 by pastapadre · Comments

While the patch status for NBA Live 09 remains in question, we do finally have the details of what is being included. As expected many of the well discussed gripes such as shot percentages, delay in attempting shot blocks, and improvements to Online Team Play are included.
It sounds as though there are numerous fixes/improvements that aren’t specifically mentioned so we’ll be looking for or coming across them on our own. Hopefully they’ll wipe out the current record and stats in OTP given the changes. I’ll also be checking to see if they fixed the auto-inbounding that was plaguing the mode.

NBA Live 09 Patched Today…Apparently Isn’t The Patch
November 20, 2008 by pastapadre · Comments

A patch for NBA Live 09 was released this morning for the PS3 and 360. Or was it? According to EA no patch was released, however users of both consoles (including myself) were prompted to download an update. Given the timing it was reasonable to expect that this was the patch that everyone has been waiting on as it was submitted to Microsoft and Sony a couple weeks ago.
I spent a few minutes trying to get a feel for any differences between then and now. As far as I can tell nothing has was changed by this patch. The delay in jumping to block shots as well putting your arms up with the right stick is the same, the high shot percentages seem to be the same, and the menu lag remains. Those are just some of the more noticeable things that I expect will be addressed in the patch…though EA still hasn’t provided any official details on what will be included.
While it has happened before where MS or Sony has released an empty patch by error, it would seem to be quite the coincidence that both did so for the same game at the same time. Also, generally the companies receive at least some advance notice from them as to when patches are going live. In this case no one seems to know what is going on. If there is any more news regarding what this was all about today add an update to this posting.
Upcoming NCAA Basketball 09 Patch
November 19, 2008 by pastapadre · Comments

While we knew that the authentic schedules were going to be patched in for NCAA Basketball 09 following release of the game there will be more included in the patch. NCAA Strategies has received information on what the patch entails and when it is expected to be out.
The targeted date for the patch to arrive is Thursday December 4th. Incidentally that is the week that the game was originally scheduled to be released before they moved it up by two weeks. Along with the authentic schedules the patch will provide named rosters for online play as well as the ability to edit classic teams.
While those are welcome additions they are basically things that should’ve been included in the first place. At least getting the names back online shows they listened to the community. Whether there will be another patch that attempts to improve the gameplay or address issues that have been discovered (as we’ve seen from the second patches with other titles) remains very much in question.

Madden 09 Patch #2 Now Out
September 23, 2008 by pastapadre · Comments

After having to wait a few days from the initial time the second patch for Madden 09 was thought to go live it is now out for the 360 and PS3. As long as your console is connected online you will be automatically prompted to download the patch when next starting up the game. You will not have to restart franchise mode for the effects of the patch to come through.
Continue on to view all of the changes and feel free to leave your impressions of the game after the patch in the comments. Initial response seems to be that the gameplay related improvements have proven to be valuable, the CPU now takes too long to snap the ball even on extra points, and it may not have fixed freezes that some people have experienced in franchise mode.
Update: If you experienced freezing in franchise prior to the patch you will have to start over. Any that hadn’t previously had issues with freezing should be fine to continue.
Madden and NFL Head Coach 09 Patch Updates
September 19, 2008 by pastapadre · Comments

The patches for Madden 09 and NFL Head Coach 09 have been in certification testing with Microsoft and Sony for some time now so here is the latest on where we are at with those.
(Updated) Madden 09 will be receiving its second patch at 5am ET on Tuesday morning. It should be arriving for both the 360 and PS3. Originally it was believed that the patch would come out in the early AM hours of Saturday but it missed that cutoff and is now set for the AM hours of Tuesday for release by Microsoft and Sony. The details on what will come with the patch can be found here.
(Updated) The patch for Head Coach was set to be released at 5am ET on Saturday but it too didn’t make it out. It may be the same 5am ET release as the Madden patch on Tuesday morning. However the PS3 will not be receiving the patch until possibly later this week or next week (there was a problem that required resubmitting). The details on what will come with the patch can be found here.
