Besides the two mountain sports titles the wave of sports game releases for the year is now in the rear view mirror and the focus naturally turns to enjoying them rather than the anticipation that precedes them. It was an especially strong crop of games with NBA 2K17, PES 2017, FIFA 17, Madden NFL 17, and Forza Horizon 3 all having been reviewed very highly. Which game is getting the most play-time now and why is that the case? Vote in the poll below and leave any additional thoughts in t...

Consumers have the choice between two excellent soccer games this year. Not only is there no going wrong with either FIFA 17 or Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 they excel in very different ways making a decision on which one to buy somewhat easier. Additionally both games have demos available to try and in the case of FIFA there are the full 10 hours to play through EA Access subscriptions on either Xbox One or PC. FIFA 17 is a really well-rounded product considering its extensive slate of li...

This year's E3 was a fairly uneventful one for the crop of annual licensed sports games. FIFA 17 had the big announcement of a story mode and description of some gameplay advancements while Madden NFL 17 detailed improvements to Franchise mode. Arguably more interesting were the happenings with the somewhat less traditional sports titles. Ubisoft announced a new mountain sports game called Steep with a trailer and gameplay walkthrough that looks spectacular, the first trailer and f...

There's Battle Royale which features a draft and then three inning games online with increasing rewards at stake, and Conquest which is single-player and incorporates building a fan base while conquering the territo...

The first promotional push for MLB The Show 16 related to Road to the Show with the "Perks" and "Showtime" features generating decidedly mixed reaction. Gameplay should be a different story, as there will naturally be those who feel not enough has been done, but all that which has been improved upon will likely be viewed in a positive light. The primary focus for this year was on variety in animations, but there are also new elements of personality that have been injected, while major i...

The voting for various categories in the Pastapadre Community Awards continues with Best New or Non-Yearly Sports Game. This is a category that has become increasingly difficult to populate with worthy nominees as developers have almost entirely ceased production of the traditional non-league licensed games that dictate annual releases. Previous winners have included The Golf Club, UFC Undisputed 3, Forza 4, and EA Sports MMA. Now Open for Voting: Best Gameplay – Best Presentation â€...
