NBA 2K11 Top Sports Game in January
NPD has released the official sales for January in the US and NBA 2K11 is the only sports title found in the top 10. The combined total sales of all platforms landed NBA 2K11 in sixth place for the month. For the last three years no sports offering charted in January's top 10 so this demonstrates the continued strength of 2K's offering this time around. Being honored for so many 'Sports Game of the Year' awards and even being in the discussion at some outlets for overall 'Best Game of the Year...

Madden NFL 11 and NBA 2K11 Amongst Highest Selling Games of 2010
With strong showings in December both Madden 11 and NBA 2K11 were able to secure their respective spots within the top 10 highest selling games of 2010. Madden 11 finished as the second highest selling game of the year while NBA 2K11 came in tenth. (more...)...

Madden 11: Top Sports Game in November
Last year Madden 10 was the top sports game in November and the series has traditionally done well over the holidays. However given the huge sales boost that NBA 2K11 received the expectation was that game would maintain its lead. Despite NBA 2K11 doubling its opening month sales in October and finishing in first place it fell to ninth in November while Madden 11 landed in fourth. (more...)...

Remaining October Sales Results
Having already detailed the doubling in sales that the NBA 2K series received with 2K11 and the drop-off that Madden 11 is now experiencing that leaves a handful of other titles and their sales to still discuss. Madden 11 Sales Now Struggling
Last year Madden 10 came out relatively weak early on and then showed great strength through the holidays providing a year-over-year increase from Madden 09. That development was based largely on very good word of mouth. Madden 11 initially broke out of the gate with a 12% increase in first month sales. Now it has tailed off and overall is down 18% year-over-year. There are several reasons why Madden 11 is now having trouble holding its ground. (more...)...

NBA 2K11 Tops October Sales
NBA 2K11 added Michael Jordan not just as a marketing tactic but as the focus of several game modes despite the significant cost that came with obtaining his rights and personal blessings. That decision has paid off as NBA 2K11 sold more copies than any other game in October. (more...)...

September Sales Success for EA Sports
September was big for EA Sports as their three most recent games finished in the top five in sales for the month. Unfortunately NPD has decided to no longer provide the actual sales numbers for consoles or individual titles instead leaving that to the manufacturers and publishers which is a little disconcerting. FIFA 11 Becomes Fastest Selling Sports Game in History
EA Sports has announced that worldwide sales of FIFA 11 have hit 2.6 million through October 2nd. Those figures include six days at retail in the US and only two days out in Europe. FIFA 11 is now the fastest selling sports game ever, topping FIFA 10 which broke the record last year with 1.7 million in its first week. Madden 11 Sales Open Strong
After a start to the year that saw dramatic declines in sales with UFC Undisputed 2010 and Tiger Woods 11, NCAA Football 11 was able to buck the trend by growing by 8%. Madden 11 Struggling to Meet Sales Expectations?
I've seen quite a bit of chatter today regarding some thoughts that initial indications are the sales for Madden 11 have been disappointing. At this point there is absolutely no concrete data to suggest sales are down. However this CNBC article seems to have stirred up discussion by making some purely unsubstantiated assumptions.
