While multi-platform sports games will likely be fairly comparable across the board between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this upcoming generation, there are a few ways in which the two systems differentiate from one another that developers will look to take advantage of. One example of those for the PS4 is the Dualshock 4 controller that provides for the use of a unique central touchpad. A new video that came out today includes discussion with developers on how they are utilizing the to...

Despite the end of the week bringing the launch of the PlayStation 4 the sports games have still shown very little in the way of raw gameplay footage. While Madden NFL 25 and NBA Live 14 are being almost completely hidden, off-screen videos from conventions for FIFA 14 and a short clip for NBA 2K14 were all that was available to see of those two in action until now. Thanks to demo units being up in retail stores more off-screen videos have materialized for both while FIFA also has some direc...

Of all the areas the new Ignite Engine was supposed to be of benefit to Madden NFL 25 on Xbox One and PS4, the one that has demonstrated the least in the way of dividends in all the footage to date is "Living Worlds". Elements that were said to be improved but have not appeared to be so include the same sparsely populated and static sidelines with generic players, completely disconnected cut scene celebrations, crowds that have numerous replicated fans in each small area and lack diversit...

Despite getting the most hands-on exposure of the next-gen sports games prior to release - given its appearances at conventions (which has also brought gameplay videos) and Microsoft's Xbox One road tour - EA Sports has yet to go deep into the features that separate FIFA 14 from its current-gen versions. The recent trailer further outlined them but offered little substance. With just over a week to go until the PS4 arrives the company has released the first of four planned producer videos...

EA Sports today released more on the controls for NBA Live 14, performing the signature style dribbling moves for various players, and the depth of coaching styles and strategies. It's all very good information that is impressive in the depth it will provide users but without showing everything in context of an actual game, and continuing to hold back looks at extended unedited footage, will likely continue to ring hollow for most.  (more…)...
