Harrison Ford Joins Cowboys & Aliens

Today on Twitter director Jon Favreau confirmed that Harrison Ford has signed on for Cowboys & Aliens. This represents Favreau’s next project following the nearing completion and release of Iron Man 2. The film is being written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers, Fringe) and being overseen by Damon Lindelof (Lost).

Ford joins Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde as the big names tied to the film. Based on the comic, the story takes place in the early 1800’s where the Cowboys are battling the Native Americans until they are interrupted by the arrival of an alien spacecraft. The two sides are forced to come together to fight off the invasion. Cowboys & Aliens has a tentative release date of July 29 2011.
