Lead Role Cast in Transporter Series

Last month Cinemax announced they had begun developing a TV series based on the Transporter movie franchise. The first season is slated to run for 12 episodes, begin filming this summer, and air early next year.

Transporter, the series, will center on professional transporter Frank Martin, played in the movies by Jason Statham. Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, Martin can always be counted on to get the job done — discreetly. He has three rules: Never change the deal, no names and never open the package.

Now the lead has been cast and it’s Chris Vance who has turned in compelling performances on Prison Break, Dexter, and Burn Notice. While he has a strong screen presence he hasn’t really shown much in the way of action skills which will be required to pull off the role that Jason Statham carried in the films. Interestingly the same stunt team that worked on the films will be coordinating the action in the television series.
