FIFA 13 Ultimate Team Back Online After Being Pulled Due to Exploit

Early this morning EA Sports restored Ultimate Team functionality in FIFA 13. The mode had been taken offline for a couple days without the company discussing why such an extreme action was being taken. It had to have been very serious though as, on average, they’d be losing somewhere around $400K every single day that the mode was unavailable. Now that the mode is back an explanation from EA has come as well.

The problem involved “a very small number of users attempting to gain an unfair advantage by manipulating coins”. Permanent bans have been levied to all of those users who attempted to gain an unfair advantage through the exploit that was discovered.

Ultimate Team in FIFA has been a target for account thieves in the past, given their monetary value, and now this represents another occurrence of the inevitable when money is on the line. People will look for ways to manipulate or cheat the system through an exploit.
